Got my power fc recently fitted and tuned.

I noticed my engine liught flashing when accelerating hard in 3rd 4th or 5th.

I wasnt sure what it meant, read a few previous threads and i realised its knock warning.

I didnt have my hand controller plugged in, just plugged it in then took my car on the freeway accelerated from 4th all the way to around 5000+rpm saw the engine light come on agian.

Read the knock value and it was 96.

Question Is: is this really bad? Did the tuner do a bad job..? should i take it back and get a retune?

Thanks for any advice :D

i just read some previous threads...it means "im knocking, therefore back off" why do you have to back off...? i cant hear it pinging...well ive never heard a car ping i know its meant to sound like metal on metal but all i can hear is the spool

What should i do to stop it...?

I specifically asked the tuner to undertune it so i can safely hammer it without worrying! Has he done a bad job if im knocking?

Take it back

The tuner hasn't tuned it safe enough to take in to considerating different operating conditions.

Thanks for quick reply. It cost me $400 to get it tuned, would the tuner charge me that again for a re-tune?

If its knocking due to the lack of tuning then No you shouldn't have to pay again.

If its knocking due to the failure of a fuel pump then chances are all you will have to do is drop in a new fuel pump, then give the afr's a quick look over to ensure they are still all good.

The tuner i used is supposedly highly reputable in Victoria.

I seriously cant afford another $400 on a re tune. im sick of spending money fixing SHIT NOT DONE PROPERLY IN THE FIRST PLACE.

I thought it was weird when he was only on the dyno for 40 minutes...he must of rushed it.

Dont stress to much, the exact same thing happened to me, i took it back free of charge until he got it right....

I to went to a well know tuner... but the customer service has been quite good, now my rwkw has one down a little but on a 33 degree day it was knocking around mid 20's and the light hasnt come on since, even in the heat loading it up in 5th...

it wont cost you a cent.

Its not a "retune"

its a slight adjustment on a map point which will take all of 5 mins.

Just remember what RPM, what speed, what gear. And that will help yuor tuner find the point even faster if they know what they are doing.

I've had mine back once, and needs to go back again.

Its the way of tuning. On a dyno you CANT get it exact.

Doesnt mean the tuner is crap at all.

Bit hard to replicate 170km/h+ @ 7500rpm on a drag strip :( (thats where my knock was)

    • haha don't worry I'm sue you've got more fun ahead buying a 30 year old turbo car....but at least you are in the right place to ask
    • some days eh? The keyless entry and interior light on/off with the key will be controlled by the Body Control Module, but I'm not certain where that is or what it looks like (you might get lucky with a search to get a part#, which could be printed on it). I'd start at the A pillar/ Under dash/kick panel on the driver's side
    • It might be hit and miss, but Nissan Genuine Parts and Pitworks are not the same thing, although both are available from Nissan Dealers with Nissan Part Numbers. Nissan Genuine Parts are the OEM stuff, Pitworks are their attempt to get people back from generic parts makers
    • I did end up getting it sorted, as GTSBoy said, there was a corroded connection and wire that needed to be replaced. I ended up taking out the light assembly, giving everything a good clean and re-soldered the old joints, and it came out good.
    • Wow, thanks for your help guys 🙏. I really appreciate it. Thanks @Rezz, if i fail finding any new or used, full or partial set of original Stage carpets i will come back to you for sure 😉 Explenation is right there, i just missed it 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for pointing out. @soviet_merlin in the meantime, I received a reply from nengun, and i quote: "Thanks for your message and interest in Nengun. KG4900 is for the full set of floor mats, while KG4911 is only the Driver's Floor Mat. FR, RH means Front Right Hand Side. All the Full Set options are now discontinued. However, the Driver's Floor Mat options are still available according to the latest information available to us. We do not know what the differences would be, but if you only want the one mat, we can certainly see what we can find out for you". Interesting. It seems they still have some "new old stock" that Duncan mentioned 🤔. I wonder if they can provide any photos......And i also just realized that amayama have G4900 sets. I'm tempted too.
