Interesting problem...

I can smell petrol in my car almost evertime i drive it now... Sometimes its pretty bad... BUT... i cannot see any leaks....

Now, i filled my car up on the weekend, went into the shop to pay, and came back out and noticed drips from under the tank on the drivers side... but it wasn't coming out the inlet.. after driving out of the petrol station the drips stopped.. the only other time i have seen it drip, is when i jacked it up a few weeks ago and the car was tilting towards the drivers side..

I'm thinking there may be a whole at the top of the petrol tank...?

Anyone else had a similar problem they can share?

Ive got a similar problem...open your boot, lift your carpet up and ul see where your fuel pump is located....undo the four screws that hold the lid on, and disconnect the plug (wont do anything harmful) and then check your feed and return lines for wear....if there fine and not cracked, undo your lines....and undo the screws that hold the fuel pump lid in place and check your seal around the top of the fuel tank.......mines broken and leaks. Might be ur problem.....check it out

I got some crap to fix when it stops raining........il let ya's know whats wrong, if i find it, any ideas???

Hmm well theres a few ideas for me to think about... cheers guys...

I drove all the way to Mt Barker and back lastnight, and didn't smell petrol at all!!! So it's not a consistent problem...

Bit dangerous though... I might get high when im driving on one of my coastal cruises one day!

Ah, so annoying, I've only had my car for a month or so... and now i am having a problem, with what i hope is my boost gauge (standard)... gonna post a thread about that one too...

Stay tuned for the next installment of James' R32 issues.... :D

The hose attatched to my Fuel pump was pretty much melted and gone so ive replaced that, and my fuel tank seal was broken so now im no longer leaking fuel and no longer smelling fuel - other then the fuel that spilt on too me when i replaced my rear hoses again (fuel doesnt help inte eyes)....but yeh im hoping shes fixed and hoping that my submergable fuel line stays sealed and doesnt melt to a gel again.

    • Yes the gear for the R33/34 is different, it is red and has a different number of teeth. My part didn't come with that gear though, so I don't know how many teeth are on the red one. You'd have to reuse the 260RS/R33 gear, as long as it's not destroyed.   Haha, as unfortunate as that might be it was working fine for about the first 1500km I've had the car for now.
    • Update all   thanks to the workshop manual, it lead me back to checking fuses as mentioned central locking and door open lights worked when acc was switched on. diagram attached shows two points of power 1. ACC and 2.  Batt with the later being fused (#28) I did check the fuses using a multimeter but I must have stuffed that up also. Went back and checked the batt fuse in interior fuse box and you wouldn’t believe it… a blown fuse. replaced fuse and everything is now working as it should including the climate control   thank you all with your positive insight and knowledge.
    • Where is the warning "That this thread is super old"   I just went into a 5 year old thread, went to do a reply, and couldn't see anywhere obvious a warning of it being super old
    • Duncan is correct. Pitwork (and Toyota's own cheap brand "Drive Joy") were primarily created as brands to sell other manufacturers car parts. It would be weird if Nissan sold parts for Toyota vehicles with a Nissan logo on it, so they created Pitwork to sell parts for other brans Toyota, Honda etc. They are not the same as Nissan genuine parts, although they *do* meet Nissan's standards for replacement parts. They aren't supposed to be a substitute for genuine parts, but a cheaper alternative that is better than Ebay fake parts from you-know-where.
