Apexi Dual pods

Apexi 3.5in dumps back pipe

HKS hard piping kit

Possibly big injectors

Possibly Z32's

Running on 7psi

140kw at all four did it 4 runs in a row and all lines are pretty much touching...

Have since found out how to get it on 14psi and 20... (Turn the boost controller on... Fkin idiot)

interesting to compare this to my old GTR. very similar mods.

mine was:

R32 GTR with R33 GTR brand new crate motor

Head porting by prime garage

tomei expreme manifolds

tomei expreme dump pipes

tomei 600cc injectors

nismo fuel pump

nismo air flow meters

Tomei pon cams 260/260 9.15mm

trust full piping kit inc intake etc.

HKS GT-SS turbos

Apexi Power FC

trust profec B II

trust intercooler

front pipes and 3.5 inch exhaust

made 303kw at the same boost as you 17psi and on a set of R34 GTR 18inch wheels with average tyres ran a 11.7 @ 120mph with lots more to go in driver and car!

BUT check out the response difference.

at 4,000rpm you are making about 105kw at the same RPM I'm making 160kw

at 4,400rpm you are making about 160kw and I'm making 210kw

at 5,000rpm you are making about 215kw and I'm making 250kw.

at 5,600 rpm you are making about 250kw and I'm making about 275kw (you are starting to catch up)

at 6,200 rpm you are making dead on 280kw and I'm making about 295kw (getting even closer)

and at 6,800 rpm you are making about 295kw and I'm making my peak of 303kw (very close now)

at 7,400rpm we are just about dead even on 300kw. Yours revs a bit harder. mine was a fresh engine just run in so we kept revs down under 8,000rpm.

we both have very similar set-ups and very similar AFRs and boost levels. what does your boost curve look like?

I would have thought mine may even suffer a little in response as I have a 1.2mm tomei head gasket which lowers compression a little.

the only real differences are I have mild cams and headwork. which seems to have done it's job.

my graph:

picture002wg6.jpg

there may even be more to be gained from yours response wise with more tuning (timing) and maybe some cams? for a very similar set-up it does give away a lot in the mid-range. as much as 50kw at the wheels in some points.

at 128km/h mine (T517z) makes 220-230rwkw... tops out at 360rwkw @ 1.38 BAR... yours seems to be a little stronger through the mid range, whilst mine tops out a bit higher... what's your rev limit?

I'll post a dyno chart later

Got my car off the dyno today, went from twin 2835's to a single GT35R. Car is 100% better to drive now, so so so much better.

Specs:

N1 Block

TOMEI Forged 86.5mm Pistons

Pauter Forged Rods

TOMEI Procams (270 x 10.8mm)

JUN High Flow Oil Pump

Garrett GT35R (.82 T4 rear)

Ebay manifold

PWR 50mm Wastegate

2x 044 Bosch fuel pumps (external)

Greddy Fuel Rail

Sard fuel pressure regulator

APEX'i Power FC (non d-jet)

Nismo Fuel Pump (pickup)

Denso 700cc Injectors

Spitfire coils

557rwhp @ 1.8bar (415rwkw @ 26psi). Have revved it to 8800rpm, however its predominately a track car, so we've brought the limiter down to reduce the wear on the motor. Made ~500hp all the way to the 8800rpm limiter.

    • I think the pic in the first post is another car, and post 7 is OP's car with standard arms and swaybar swaybar swaybar. I can't tell what brand the silver coilovers are, and even if I could I don't know whether the spring rate is OK, if you can find a brand on the shocks and numbers on the springs that might help. Also, if you can measure the ride height from centre of your wheel to the guard that will help with advice too as handling suffers if ride height is too low
    • sadly, pics no work. that car must have spent a lot of time in a cryo bubble
    • In the first photo you posted, the colour of the control arms are the signature colour for Ikeya. Same for the swaybar, signature colour for Whiteline.  I like Hardrace, they also do hardened rubber bushes if your car is mainly a street car.  I like GKTech as well, but they use a lot of rose joints in their stuff so might not be the best choice for everyone.  The system might have been good back in its day, but it's a prehistoric system now. I suspect that most people have removed the HICAS as they want the car to do what they want to do, not what the car wants to do. From what I also understand, it isn't consistent in it's behaviour on track so it's hard to trust the car/know where its absolute limits are for track use.  Having said that, I think the HICAS eliminator kit was the first thing I installed when I bought my car. I don't personally have any experience with the HICAS system on a race track.
    • Thanks for the info. Didn’t know I had aftermarket control arms already? Will talk to my garage. What brand would u recommend if I want to play around with my camber more? I would think my camber is around stock level right now or more negative now due to lowering with coilovers. I will be lower her again 1.5 cm to get some more.    also why does everyone like to remove the hicas system? Is it because most don’t work properly anymore or ppl just don’t like them. Mine is functioning as it should be right now.    thanks for the good info
    • It looks like you've got Ikeya control arms and an aftermarket sway bar, maybe whiteline?  Or am I just going crazy? lol Unfortunately it won't, but what it will do is look really pretty. That's about all unfortunately.  How much neg camber do you currently have? Generally lowing the car dials in quite a bit of neg camber as it is. If you do go down this path, your best bet is get adjustable arms, toe arms (or preferably a good HICAS elimination kit) and traction rods. With all 3 being adjustable, you'll be able to dial out any bump steer that is introduced by playing with the camber settings.
