  1. Just in the process of setting up my new turbo kit and most of it's fitted just upto the boost controller bit then dyno.

Do I have to run a dual stage boost controller if I have dual wastegate set up on my single turbo set up?

Also if it matters it's dual bov set up as well on hot side one on cold side.

What do you recommend running with a haltec boost controller wise for my set up?post-100589-14226160057598_thumb.jpg

  2. It's very lazy coming up onto boost as per earlier comments.

Maybe throw up a pic or two of your setup?

100% agree with Stao you need to be confident that the cam timing is set correctly. Not just lining up timing marks, but by using a degree wheel to know with certainty the valves are opening/closing when they should be. With that resolved first, then move to the turbo.

You appear to have gone with a 10cm IW turbine housing? General consensus is that those ones aren't good at permitting proper boost control, and boost response is also average. But it's one of those talked-about points on a forum and I have no direct first hand experiences with that turbine setup. Thinking you will have to play with it a bit to get a reasonable understanding of the truth.

Three things I would look at are the wastegate actuator spec, correct/best setting of its preload, and setup of your boost controller. It's looking so lazy to come on that it makes me wonder if the wastegate valve is just blowing open.

The impeller OD sizes on the turbo you have are roughly 78mm (comp), 67mm (turbine) which gives a very rough correlation to a GT3576. 10cm housing roughly equivalent to a 0.63 A/R.

On an RB25 with cam upgrade and everything setup properly it's probably fair to think you would see it making best torque across 4500-8000rpm. Under 3500 it's not going to be responding super-quick.

Learning more of you then I could find anywhere else about this turbo and it's issues. You are a big help thanks.
  3. Can I get some opinion on what u guys think of my dyno result I think it's a bit lazy but professional opinion would be great. Someone told me that the tuner may not have tuned in the vct on the 25 as this haltech was bought second hand from a rb20 which did not have vct could that be much of a issue with not seeing full boost earlier?

Decided to try out the kinugawa td06 -25g turbo still a jap made turbo but had some issues with over boost and had to do some mods on the rear housing waste gate hole.

  4. hey guys so i need some expert advise on the whole rb25det s1 and s2 loom and engine differences.

    current set up is a rb25de(+)t engine in a r32 4 door running the stock rb20det loom/ and i assume rb20det computer?

this rb25de+t is a vct but vct isn't plugged in cause its a rb20det loom.

Question 1.so i am currently getting a rb25det series 2 engine built and my question is do i need a complete rb25det series 2 loom to run this engine.

or can i get it to run on my current loom?

Question 2. would it work if i used s1 coilpacks on the s2 engine?

Question 3. what are the differences between a series 1 and 2?

    Question 4. which is better?

    cheers guys.

  5. hey guys just having a random over heating issue and wondering if any of you guys have encountered before??

so my rb25det seems to randomly over heat after i change the coolant. ill take it up the road it will heat right up to 115 degress plus and ill just pull over, turn the car off and let it sit for a few minutes, turn it back on and its back to good again around 85 degress.

also sometimes does it if its sit or a few days.

what could it be? water pump? blockage?
