  1. Some updates.

Since I'm waiting for my next tune I've spent some time with the new SR20det. The GT3071 in .64 came out. and now replaced with a much more responsively ATR28SS1 turbocharger:

I'm not a very big fan with the .64 rear housings as it turn to chocks the SR in upper revs. So for this Sr20det I've was fitted with a .86 FNT turbine housing, and for any one whom haven't read earlier post the ATR28SS1 has a 63mm compressor wheel.

few other thing I've noticed that the SR20s are much harder to work with, replacing the GT3071 turbocharger took me almost 6 hours to complete in which replacing a Rb25det turbocharger would take me less then 2 hours.

Even the Tar weight between a S14 and R33 is only 50KGs how ever this S14's chassis felt much lighter then the R33 (might because half of it is fiberglass) . Not only in driving around in corners but also by pushing them around in the workshop.

Any way, a dead fuel pump, a bad cluster and a wrongly connected electric fan explained the random cut out pretty well. Means it run lean and dry most of times, with the electric fan blowing at a wrong direction this car would have been overheated and shutting down once so often, the malfunction cluster would inform the driver that nothing should be worried about. A touch of the Gizmmo ebc indicate this engine has been running 24psi most of its life after been fitted into this chassis since the end of 2011. In which I really appreciate the honesty and generosity of the seller, experienced none of the problems that I've mentioned perhaps, and decided to leave this car at his parent's garage collecting dust.

How ever the cosmetic side of things do looking pretty good. And every single bolt on it has been lock-tight, which would be my misery pulling them apart.

On the positive side it is much better to drive now. boost comes in nice and early, torque pulls all the way to red. With some luck I might be seeing 230rwkws mark on Pump 98 fuel this Friday.

I'm very interested to see your results with the FNT 0.86 rear housing. So for clarification its an ss1PU right?

  2. Post it up so I can compare all 3 results :)

I get full boost by easily 4000 rpm if not earlier

Might take a video and get you an exact rpm

I think there is a fair bit of difference in the mid range. Seems to be about 20kw until my boost drops off.

    Hey Manuel,

Sorry for the dalay but i've got the time to post up my graphs for a comparo. I have just realised that your ss1 is in a R33 but it doesn't hurt to get some feedback

  3. Hey Morgan,

It's smaller than the SS1PU and will make less power in total. Stao is referring to his E85 results, where his SS1PU E85 result was over 320kw IIRC.

I have forgotten to PM you in some time so are due for a catch :) PM me if you need me to clarify.

    Hey Man hows it been?

I'm a little confused bro, stao's post above states 260rwkw on 98 not e85. I want as much response as possible and it seems that the ss1.5 will deliver the same power earlier on than the ss1pu but the ss1pu will make more up top.

  4. Not sure but before when I got it tuned made 252rwkw but boost control was pritty bad 25psi spike dropping to 21psi

Ill see what it runs at the creek I'm pritty confident ill run 120mph plus trap speed as last outing pulled a 12.4 @122mph with kando turbo

Did you have cams? I'm not running any and making 236rwkw, I would expect around that mark with cams. Good luck at the drags!

  5. Just fitted my 20psi actuator preloaded 3 turns and set boost

Hovers around 23-24psi all the way to redline

So did the trick low boost is now 20-21psi

Can't wait to take it to the drags and claim my 11sec slip just got to replace my diff as its single spinning which will hurt my take off

Sounds good. Im also running 20psi. Just scored an R33 ABS auto diff with 4.3's in it. Just trying to source an LSD to suit, bang in some coilovers and hit the drags. What kind of power u making at 20psi?

  6. Just want to give Stao some props on his turbos. I recently installed an ATR28G2 SS1PU to my sr20. Car has 180k and is unopened with all the usual bolt on's. I was running 18 psi and getting 226rwkw, no cams and it felt pretty good. I just whacked on a bellmouth dump and upped pressure to 20 psi and the car pulled 236rwkw.

What really blew me away was the change in mid-range from about 4500rpm, it feels like a different turbo, noticeably more torque. I winder what it will do with cams, New HG, head studs and 24 psi?? All I can say is great product, great performance and great price, keep up the great work Stao..
