  1. I WOULD LIKE TO SAY A BIG THANKYOU TO JIM 72GT on sau THE OWNER OF A KGC10 DONE UP AS A REPLICA GTR FOR DRIVING IT FOR MY WEDDING ON 5/11/11.

I dream about the car every day and when i buy a bigger house which should be soon i will buy that car. when jim turned up at my place i saw the car and almost cryed it was clean neat and fitted in with the other wedding cars very nice. Jim drove very professional from my house in the wedding convoy to chatswood and even waited to after my church service was done to let us take photos and wow did it attract attention.

When i get the photos i will post them up for all to see then hang them on my wall.

Jim thankyou very much for all the effort you went to eventhough your own skyline was out of action you did all the running around to borrow your mates same car to make my day even better goodluck in moving house and in the future.

    THANKYOU VERY MUCH

    Hey Adam!

Honestly mate it was my pleasure. One thing I should point out straight up is ....that was not MY car  The closer the date came, it became evident my KGC10 would not be ready, so thanks to a "NSW Corvettes Unlimited " member and VERY good friend of mine, lets call him "Ganders"... very generously made his freshly refurbished KGC10 available for the day.

And a great day it was! During the Wedding ceremony we went for a coffee up on Victoria ave nearby.....in that time the parked KGC10 appeared to be the cause of three near misses due to people doing double takes and sudden pull ups in an attempt to get photos!! :D It caused a bit of a stir with a few of the people walking by as well " What is it?..NO WAY!! Hey come back and look at this" etc

It was a pleasure to meet you, your brothers, mates, grooms men etc. I had fun, and ..um yeah, I now have ANOTHER plan for mine

P.S. I wore a family heirloom thin black tie and got my hair cut Jase, the Skyline did the rest

  2. Hi everyone on the 5 november i am getting married and i want to use a 1970 gtr for one of the wedding cars the owner can drive it i just want a lift from epping to chatswood and after the church a few photos in the local park. Its my dream car can anyone help me. my family has an old ford xb gt goss and that is the second car for the wedding party for the other boys. thanks everyone

WELL! Congratulations to the happy couple......and to this corner of the forum. A combined effort saw Adam arrive at the church with style and class in a genuine 1971 Nissan Skyline GT (looking suspiciously like a GT-R of the same vintage!)

Unless someone can point to an earlier occurrence, I think we can claim a first!!

    Again, congratulations.

  3. RE the S20 in Australia;

The only one I know of, (I wish I had kept the ad from "Auto Action"!anyone remember the huge ad space EKW had?) came into and went out of East Keilor Wreckers ~ mid eighties. Engine and gearbox only. IIRC it was from a Fairlady Z432. They were asking Au$8000 back then!

From memory  Was bought by a company in England who regularly sourced 2nd hand Z car parts from Australia back then. It is now in good hands in GB and well looked after.

  4. Jim did you ever organise club rego for the car?

I did, but sadly there is very little I could say about that club on a public forum . Save for the fact there are a few good folk there having their best efforts go to waste. Got a better idea now anyway.

    OH! By the way.....

Skylines Australia NSW Rules and Constitution

Where? I can't find 'em :stupid:

    Cheers,

    Jim.

  5. You might be best served finding a needle in a haystack for your wedding fella.

Only 2 good ones or even suitable cars in this country & both are in Victoria as best I know and to get them to Sydney for a day might cost you more than you're prepared to pay. If it's a classic Skyline you want as a wedding car, I would suggest you rethink your choice of model and maybe one with 4 doors.

    Cheers, D

Geez! After talking with Shelby I thought you knew better than that!!

We have three 1971 KGC10s in Sydney ( 1 GT-X and 2 GT's) all are silver GT-R tribute cars . One very nice stock KGC10 GT-X in Singleton area. The fourth GT-R lookalike has been sold and moved on to SouthCoast somewhere I believe.

The two cars in Victoria are stock bodied KGC10's both yet to be refurbished. Another in WA.

Mine is currently unregistered but should be right by then and wedding ready if you like!?

    We could try for two?

    Cheers

    Jim.

  6. • Estimated 180 Kilowatts @ Wheels @12 LBS

Wots this estimated bullshit!! stick it on a dyno ya cheap tnuc !!! :nyaanyaa:

even the guys in the prince skyline GT register like what i have done with the car....

    Even?? EVEN?!?!?

Ya know....It's people like you what cause unrest Pete (Jim here :) ).

It's a bit cheap i'nit?? Gotta be worth every penny of that?!?!?

    Oh! umm...Does Marvin approve ?

    ...aaand, wots next?

    :domokun:

    Cheers mate,

    Jim.

  7. Ok..assuming this is not a rev up and you are not just trawling for bites;

That is a pic of an Australian delivered 240K coupe. The build plate shows it's a KHGC110. 2.4 litre L6 powered.

A quick google image search using "KPGC110" will give you a lot more info to digest.

    Have fun!

  8. Spotted up the road from my nanna's house, made my day :)

    Cheers Dan

....And she wasn't alone! The Prince Skyline GT Register is currently at rest in the Blue Mountains (NSW) after traveling from Victoria, (a few from Queensland as well I think?) to Bathurst over the weekend. Lithgow was another stopover.

I'm still trying to get up the hill to catch up with whoever made it!

  9. What CSA said X2.

....But if you do buy remember you are buying a hobby. Without the Prince register network it can be a long and lonely road when the inherent characteristics of what is now a very rare 40+ year old car come to light. An enthusiast will experience a rare joy that goes with the ownership of a classic Skyline GT-B, and this one is one of the best out there.

The years have not diminished my memories of how horrid a car they were.

A couple of weeks ago I spotted a KGC10 GTR or maybe look-a-like on the M5 heading north towards the M7 interchange, rego 3300 H or K in a bronzy gold colour. Looked grewat from where I was and in excellent condition.

Yes! One of the four KGC10's in Sydney at the moment. All Silver KPGC10 look a likes. That particular one you saw is running in a new motor. All straight 6's with triple twin choke side draughts. I like to think of them as GT-Bs a few years on :P

  10. Hey all, have missed the added posts in the this thread

72GT - Still learning about these cars, yes it's actually a KGC10 2 door I'm after, ideally I'd love to do a nice tasteful GTR mock up. God knows I couldn't afford a real KPGC10 :D

Terry/Duncan - Looks like a nice car, plenty of goodies too! What's the best way to get in contact, might be worth a flight :)

    Hey Adz, PM sent ;)

    Jim.

  11. Hi Adzmax,

There are seven in Australia (known). Two basically unmolested KGC10s, four GT-R replicas, one of which may be for sale (Sydney) . These have been built in Japan from either a standard GT or GT-X. In W.A. one radical ,big flares, big wheels, loooow, etc also may be for sale. See C-red tuning, is also an importer of Japanese parts .

Have a good read of Kevs Hakosuka rebuild thread. Throw some questions to Kev. He has recently done what you propose. All care was taken to source a good car through a (still!) respected importer. Kevs is not the only case like this. It is a risky business, I was just plain lucky.

    KGC10 = 1971-72 Nissan Skyline GT 2 door ( & GT-X)

KPGC10 = 1971-2 Nissan Skyline GT-R. The real deal with the S20 and the other 10,000 parts that make it GT-R, around $100,000 in round figures for what I would call a good car.

I can put you in contact with the owner of the car that MAY be for sale in Sydney.....or is it a KGC110 your after?!

    Cheers :P

  12. Can you get a pic up?

i have a reco 15/16 i'll be useing (its on the way)

but i have 2 leaking RMR30 ones, might be able to piece them together to make a non-leaking one. im hopefully keeping one as spare, but will let you know what happens.

    or

just get the leak fixed at a brake shop, not a full rebuild!

Thanks Mag86. You sure you're not talking about master cylinders? I'm in need of the vacuum booster (big round black bugger!) unit that the master cylinder attaches to.

To fix the vacuum leak in the booster means opening it up....not too hard if you have the tools. Once open you might as well replace all rubber bits anyway! If I get a chance I'll post a pic or two of the offending unit :)

  13. Hi all,

I'm in need of a replacement brake booster for my 1975 240K (C110). Any experiences with suitable bolt on replacements? Is the C210 unit an option? I've had one dud 240K unit already from a wreckers, seemed OK but once in place ....same syptoms! touch the pedal and air can be heard being drawn in (this is inside the car) and the idle goes way off, just like it has a vacuum leak! (funny that :( )

So, if you have a lead on a good booster or a suitable replacement please speak up

    Jim.

  14. OK. Out of interest, ask him if the position of the wheel cylinder , acting on either the top or the bottom of the shoes is a factor. I wondered as I checked a few different pics and diagrams. Unfortunately few described the direction of the view (left or right hand side of car) but the position of the wheel cylinder appeared to effect which shoe was the primary!

Just looking at a brake theory book (old!) the servo, and slight rotation action of the shoes described would seem to suggest the picture in the Gregorys (and your pictured setup) is correct!

I'm still trying to make sense of this and the different position of the wheel cylinder is the only thing that comes close to explaining it!

Anyone clear on drum brake theory? Now I'm curious :(

  15. I had to put some rear brake shoes on my 240K last weekend,

I replaced then the same way they were originally placed,

But I'm not sure if this is the correct orientation,

ie swap the two shoes around (leading / trailing)

It's the Left side in these picture

The setup in your pictures matches the "Gregorys" 240K w/shop manual. Leading shoe friction material starts lower down the shoe and ends closer to the wheel cylinder.

    Jim.

  16. OK... about time we got this thread out of whatever parallel universe it has wandered into and back onto The history of Skylines in Australia.

..Although what I'm about to ask may seem to be from an alternate universe :D

It has been stated that a Datsun dealer in South Australia (Ken Eustace) in late January of 1972 did offer for sale at least one Nissan Skyline 2000 GT-R. That's the S20 engined two door of 1971-2 (KPGC10). It has been described as off white, black bonnet, fitted with minilites and went to Woomera with an RAF pilot who eventually shipped off to Germany with the car.

If you are reading this and it strikes a familiar note or think you can offer anything constructive to either proving or disproving the sale of any C10 series Skyline anywhere in Australia during late 1969 to 1973 I would love to hear about it on this forum! Perhaps you or someone you know lived there or were involved in the motorsport scene in South Australia at the time. The Prince Skyline GT and Nissan Prince A200 GT presence appears to have been strong in South Australia leading up to this time. Anyone associated with these cars at the time would have been more likely than most to have seen or heard about it. They are also most likely going to be 50+

To my knowledge there are 5 C10 series Skylines, all KGC10's currently in Australia, only two of which bear any resemblance to how they left the factory!

    • one in WA
    • two in NSW
    • two in Victoria

During the mid eighties an S20 that had been removed from a Z432 (not in OZ) was sold from Victoria and went overseas.

Please feel free to add anything of interest on this subject .

    Jim.

P.S. I've added a few memory prompting ( I hope!) pics of some unmolested examples of the KGC10, and a white KPGC10. Just imagine the skinny wheels from the silver gt-r on the white car and thats how it should have looked at the dealer.
