  1. Exhaust done and dusted.

Amazing job. Really happy with how it turned out. Sits much more snug against the car which was what i was really hoping for :)

Sounds great. Not loud or droney and not much cabin noise (we did do a good job with insulation when i swapped the centre console when the manual was added).

On too the next job!!! :)

    This is nice man!

Do you have a build thread?

  2. Hey mate, this was a random score. I joined a Facebook group "stagea owners club" it's NZ based.

One of the lads on their was selling his car which has the spoiler and kindly offered it for swaps with an original and cash his way. I went straight to the ATM lol.

I know lots of people after them and for some reason they are dam hard to get. Good luck on finding one.

As for the wheels they are wolf s36 18x8.5 and 9.5 245/45/18s offset I'm a little unsure measures roughly 20/30p. Lowered on bc golds no rubbing etc

Damn, I'll have to keep looking. I was hoping it may have been a site online, I don't really want to see if I can get one from Nissan direct ($$$$$$$$$$). I may see if I can find that group, being in NZ myself

Also, that plenum looks good, a flapper disc and autosol you say? hmmm.

  3. Parked in the uni carpark in June, some kid back out and dented and scratched the front passenger fender and front bar, and scratched the rim.

Luckily he was a good kid, left a note saying to go see security, he'd given security his contact details as it was raining (he was 17, pretty top thinking really)

Rang them, got it all sorted after parents asked to see the car to ensure quotes were correct, they were pretty good about it too.

Went to the local, got the guard and front bar fixed, both wheels on the passenger side got a respray as they couldn't match the colour. So now I'm thinking I have to get the other side matched :D

  4. Hmmm I had a similar problem on my Mondeo, was fine when cruising and low accel, when flooring it it jumped and jerked everywhere. Turned out that a spark plug was not sparking correctly and jumping down the side of the plug, or something along the lines of this. A new set of plugs fixed the problem immediately.

However, if you are throwing a code, best to fix this, rather than having more significant problems later down the line

  5. That's true. I guess this enables mirroring of both android AND apple, without the need for a new headunit/dvd screen, utilising stock ones. Plus it seems easy to install.
But it does have its drawbacks. You still have to use your phone rather than the screen. But with further reading, it appears they're developing new models to utilise stock touchscreens? Not sure.

Cool little unit though, in my opinion, and if you want to use GPS, music and video, for cars like ours (M35 and V35) it could be cheaper to use a unit like this than to buy a headunit and new stereo surround, depending on your uses.

  6. Okay, so this probably isn't everyone's cup of tea, but it is interesting nonetheless.

What the thing does is mirror the screen of your smartphone wirelessly onto a screen into your car. It is powered by USB and connects with AV cables or HDMI (your choice).
So I'm not condoning using your phone while driving, but seriously, if you had one of these it could be quite convenient, especially with our screens. You could set up your GPS maps, have your music playing or streaming, or play or stream video (to the back seats, of course) all from your phone, connecting as soon as you get in your car.

Thoughts? Obviously some drawbacks, but its look easy to set up and opens up a couple of things without major hacking or installations.

  7. They certainly are nice, saw an S2 M35 dumped on 18's today that looked sick

If I was shopping for myself I would have considered one but my missus wanted a sedan

Thinking of putting some of these on it as I can get a 19"set in 9.5 and 10.5 for $1800 new

I've probably seen your V35 around then, I'm in a M35 Stagea around Tauranga as well - Hi guys!

  8. I'll take a photo of mine, show you how the aux pins came out.

Na, if you have the TV in aux, you only need the handbrake bypass to access video. But if you're driving you don't really need the bypass anyways, unless you put in a reverse cam. But the audio still plays wen moving.

For the Audio, the pins are stated in this topic:

    http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/347479-fitting-an-asuka-tv-tuner-in-a-m35/

The first post is great, it tells you how to wire up a lead of your own, and which pinouts are which in a nice diagram. If you are making your own lead, my suggestion is put the video in at the same time.

  9. If you end up making it, its nice and easy, plus you can route the cables anywhere you like. I ended up placing a nice set into the side of the centre console (kind of like the wall mounted ones, or like wha you see out the back of a stero, but inside the centre console, if you get what i mean?) Was pretty easy, only required 3 small holes and a bit of solder for the wires, lookes nice and tidy, and is out of the way of prying eyes.

If you were anywhere near Tauranga I'd give you a hand.

  10. Yup, you can setup an Aux cord including video for the TV to run, I'm currently using an iPod classic for all my music and it just runs though the TV tuner. Wiring take a little bi of running bu its worth it. I leave my Radio on Aux most of the time, or if you have the steering wheel controls, just press mode until it goes to aux (this is the easiest way I've found).

Take a look at this topic:

    http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/203961-stagea-series-2-m35-digital-tv-upgrade/page-10

And you'll see the plug about 2 posts down to use. You can either make one of these (I think in that topic it tells you how), you can order one, or, if you are lucky enough, you might find a wrecked stagea with one of the looms. Simply plug it into the tv tuner (located in the passenger side of the boot, you need to remove the side pocket) and then route it to wherever you wish (mine is in my centre console)

    Hope this helps

  11. I've got a 3L DD in Tauranga, runs great, fuel is around 10.0l/100km including both town and open road driving since I've owned it.
But if you are chosing between 2.5 NA and 3.5 NA go with the 3.5, my auntie had the 2.5 NAs as company cars and had heaps of problems because they worked too hard pulling the weight with no turbo.

Being honest, I think the 3L is great, its a balance between sizes and power. Somewhat of a shame its DD not DE but if you aren't modding the motor, theres no worries at all.

There are some Stageas with cruise control, but if you don't get one with it from factory, there are some aftermarket options available, I'm sure the guys on the forum will be able to help you out with that, especially as they know how to keep it looking factory.

I'm not really sure about benefits between 4WD and 2WD 3.5L motors/cars. I guess better traction on 4WD cars? Someone else with more experience/knowledge will be able to fill you in on this.

    Hope this helps.

  12. Nz engineers report, certification, teething problems etc.

I've always driven manuals, current work vehicle is a 6 speed, totally over it. Can't wait for the auto wagon to arrive.

Gone for me are the days of spending thousands of dollars to modify some shit box I purchased, only to sell it later and lose money.

Save the cash, buy the vehicle you really want that doesn't require a gas axe, maybe get a few bolt ons.

The vehicle will have a good resale value cause it has not been modified.

I can get all that, half my family is in that business.

I've only had manuals up until now, I'm not 100% sure whether I'd be over the auto if I got it done, but I think it would add something to the car.

However, I completely see where you are coming from, and I agree with the good resale value.
