ok, where do i start
got an r33 gtst, last week on my way to work I pulled into the servo and there noticed when I turned off my engine smoke was coming from my engine bay. let it sit for 5 then when it subsided opened it up to try find the source. nothing appeared to be coming from leads, turbo etc (that I could see).
got under the car and noticed the smoke was pouring out from the bell housing (just incase where motor n box meet) didn't see it dropping oil/ has never dropped oil.
oil was full when I left that morning and check it it again at the servo, fine as chips wasn't milky or watery. after letting it sit for 10 mins, smoking stopped and decided to drive it again.
Get 2 mins up the road and I can slightly hear mayb bearing crunching or something like it, definitely coming from either right side or dead under. Car looses power on acceleration up the hill and completely stops.
after waiting about half hr, car decided to start again enough for me to move it into the car park opposite. by this time it has a really loud know in the engine bay, if I had to guess id say coming from bottom of motor.
during the whole time the car never overheated and unfortunately I was paying attention to the oil pressure so not sure if that dropped or not.
after about 4 hrs when I came back to tow, the knock in engine stopped, couldn't hear the bearings crunching when I drove it onto the trailer and there was a small puddle of oil (im assuming) noticed from a far so could have been box fluid.
I haven't driven it since so wouldn't know if its still doing it, not keen to risk further damage.
any ideas what this could be?. or how to start pin pointing things with out ripping the box out.
a friend- mechanic said it could be the rear main seal gasket, how do I check?
