  1. Re4r01a forward clutch

    How do trans gurus!

Currently rebuilding an re4r01a from my stagea rs4.  Purchased a banner kit including frictions, and am fitting a transgo kit too.

There are two snap rings for the forward clutch frictions and steels.  With the old setup, i believe they were 1.6mm frictions, the inner snap ring held them all in and the outer seemed redundant.

With the new frictions, I believe I have 2mm frictions.  The outer snap ring holds them in, with not much clearance (approx 0.15 mm), making the inner ring redundant as it won't fit

Can anyone forsee any issues with this?

From my understanding, adding extra frictions can make the gear change harsher but also take more power?

Would this be the same with thicker frictions?

Im learning as i go, Thanks in advance!

  2. Hallo bud, as above, the spec 2 r33 gtst coils should have fitted. (You do have s1 rs4?)

Where did you get the yellow jackets from?

They're not necessarily the cheapest but autoextreme can sort you out some decent ones.

Just whatever you do - don't get benchmark ones! I know of more sets that have failed than work lol.

  3. Sorry to drag up an old thread - I have searched honest!

Has anyone upgraded the belt and clutch packs? Anyone know of any decent suppliers of kevlar etc? Going to have the box out to fit a transgo kit so might as well get everything upgraded while its out.

Are the clutch packs different from different cars - I.e. would the ones from a patrol be any stronger, or are there aftermarket ones?

I'm not after mental power from the engine, would just rather do things once.

    (S1 re4r01a)

    Ta!

  4. Whereabouts are you bud?

Dvla vehicle check won't show much tbh - most aren't registered as stageas. Seen them registered as skylines before. My v5 just says Nissan!

Normal service stuff really, OEM cambelt is good enough.

  5. Forgot I should have asked you ted!

    Will check ecu number

Yeah, there's a few that can tune the fcon here in the UK, the mapper that I've had the best feedback from so far suggested it.

That's good then, will gave a looksie during the week to double check.

  6. Hi All,

Quick (hopefully) question regarding the ecu harness for the Stagea.

Have an auto s1 rs4 and have been looking at piggybacks (mostly fcon) - I've found the pinout diagrams on t'interweb but just wanted a definitive answer on which harness, if any, will fit

From looking at the diagrams, will the r34 gtt harness fit? I can see that the gtst one is completely different. I would have expected the gtt one to be matched to the s2 stagea, but seems to be the same as s1 too?

I did search before posting but couldn't find a definite answer!

    Ta!

  7. Cheers dude, yeah power is going to be looked at too! Got the basics on there for now - filter, exhaust ebc, neo sidemount, and hopefully push for 330-350bhp by end of the year.

Then sort out a manual conversion and start pushing a bit more!

Just realised last pic is upside down - thats not meant to be one of our usual unfunny English 'jokes' ;-)

  8. Howdo all!

Been lurking around for a while, mainly going through the 'post a pic of your stagea' thread and thought it was about time I introduced myself and asked a few questions!

Names keith, everyone calls me mowgs, drive a 1997 rs4 in wet and miserable Sussex in england.

I've started sprucing her up a bit and have my heart set on rejigging the front end. Now everyone seems to go down the masa route, but I've seen one picture that made my mind up for me.

I would like to make an r33 front fit the stagea, the one picture I've seen it looks like it should have come out the factory like it! Much more natural than the r34 fronts - and it seems to be a lot less common!

My question is, does anyone on here know the guy who did it? Anyone know what would be involved?

I've got bumper, bar and grill, with bonnet, headlights and wings in the pipeline.

I'm guessing I'll need new bonnet hinges, bonnet catch, bumper supports etc, and it looks as though the wings have been cut and blended around where the top of the wheel arch is, but does anyone have any more info - pitfalls etc?

    Cheers peeps!
