  1. Take off the steering column covers. (Couple screws, piece of piss)

Look around all your wiring looms. Especially places where splices have been made.

The biggest give away is electrical tape. All the wiring is pretty well in your face once the covers come off.

The smoke may be coming from further down in your footwell and the smoke is just making its path up and away out of your steering column section

When you say you can still hear the indicator noise is that permanantly or stays on for a little while?

It definitely sounds electrical. Do you have an aftermarket turbo timer in the car?

Has the person who installed the car alarm made proper electrical terminations or just twist a twist and tape job.

It probably wouldnt hurt to double check all your fuses too.

More of a look and discover type thing really. With any electrical fault be careful though. No one likes shorting out wires and blowing up the pcb to your mongoose alarm hahaha

Thanks so much for the help! Basically what happens is I indicate and when it switches off the ticking sound stays on and almost at a faster rate of interval ticks. I went under near the footwell and fiddlled around with the plug that goes into the indicator box and now its stopped and is fine! I am no auto electrician Mick but there is electrical tape in many spots and some wires and plugs bunched up not connected into anything, I mean it all looks neat but yeah. Maybe get a auto electrician to have a look for me.

  2. Hey guys. So basically I was driving around and stopped at a set of lights and suddenly smoke vapour appeared out of my steering column (the plastic surround) this happened a few weeks ago once and just recently it happened again.

My indicator works but as soon as the flashing arrow is off I can still hear the indicating noise! Could this be the reason why there was a bit of smoke? A fuse screwed up? The car is a r33 gts25. The car has been driving fine and all other electronics work, the car also has an alarm system that utilizes the indicator bulbs when you lock and unlock the car, could this be another reason? Many thanks.

  3. Hey all, my name is Tommy I am 22 and work in the building design industry.
I have loved Skylines since Gran Turismo 1 on the playstation one, One day I hope to own a GTR R33/32.

So I picked up a 1993 ECR33 GTS25 Skyline 2 weeks ago off a elderly man for a price I couldn't refuse. I am the second owner since he imported it with 33xxx km. It even had some service manuals from Japan and a instruction booklet for a HKS exhaust system that might have been on the car previously, pretty cool.
The car had no roadworthy and was unregistered.. so I took a chance and put a deposit down and proceeded to pick the car up the following week with my unregistered vehicle permit.

    Some info.
    -1993
    - 5 speed manual
    - Rb25de ( I am on my probationary license)
    - Hicas equipped :/
    - JVC 10 CD stacker (gangster)
    - JVC head unit with cassette player (more gangster)
    - Alloy radiator
    - According to the build plate it is a type M? Although it has no type M aero bits.

Getting the car on the road was actually easier then I thought, got a unregoed permit from vicroads, took it to my mechanic and we fixed up a few minor issues (bushes mainly). I got my roadworthy, went through the pits (which I was shitting myself over) and it was finally regoed after 5 days. Not a bad effort!
My plans are to fix up the paint because I really do like this colour and a majority of panels are faded into almost a matte finish, although one side still looks great! But again I cant complain because it was cheap and I had great difficulty finding a manual that was unmolested. (if any members can point me in the direction of a reputable paint workshop in Melbourne that would be greatly appreciated)
I just booked in to get a exhaust made up from a local guy who does a fantastic job, 2.5" catback with a stainless supercat cannon 2.5" inlet and 4" tip. Should sound the goods!

    Pics for your time.
    Thanks for reading.

  4. Hey guys I just recently purchased a Nissan Skyline so why not join the forums!

    It is

The only modifications are a bad ass JVC 10 CD stacker and a JVC headunit with cassette player, and of course some "GENUINE" Bob Jane wheels with great tread.

I have a question in regards to muffler. I recently picked up a HKS super drager and I want to put it on the car. It is only the diff back section and it is 3.5" piping (way to big for N/A) and 5" tip. Can a exhaust shop somehow sleeve it and chop it up to 2.5"? or could I just bolt it to the stock system and it would be okay? Cheers.

Pics for your time. The car has some paint imperfections but at this stage im not bothered.
    Cheers :)
