$1500 for gearbox oil?????
so no one else makes toroidal CVT transmission fluid? let alone have part numbers for it?
Correct, no one else makes this Transmission Fluid.
Only Global.Rakuten has some if you want to buy some from Japan.
I am buying mine from CVT.CO.NZ & then will compare against the Japan market...
-
Yes that's what I seen. The systems menu counter, that's about it!
If its only that needs resetting, I'd be madly pissed off after paying all this much!
-
Auto won't simply bolt in though, not electrically.
You will need the Consult 3 unit to reset the oil contaminant counter.
Well Gerrit is suggesting I can do it all by myself.
So I've had enough guess work.
Will just take a gamble & get his $1,600 CVT kit & then see how it's meant to be done.
It seems only the Waikaru, NZ fela had Nissan GT-8 Extroid flushed & even then he reckons they didn't reset the TCU...
-
He didn't say don't buy the KTF-1 from Jp- he just said make sure you buy the CORRECT oil, otherwise you will blow your CVT, which is true.
What about the adaptation procedure he is talking about?
That doesn't explain why I should or not follow his instructions.
-
Hey felas.
I've been in talks with Gerrit from CVT.CO.NZ and he is suggesting I not buy the KTF-1 oil from Global.Rakuten Japanese web site because a couple have done so & now have stuffed transmissions!!! Is this the fact??? Or his just wishy washy talking me down from buying from Rakuten for cheaper & therefore him losing out???
He says if I don't have the TCU Reset, my car will start to limp after a short while because the oil contamination sensor counter has not been reset by doing the correct adaptation procedures.
Has anyone on here bought from Global Rakuten & used the KTF-1 without any hassles???
Here are the screen shots below;

My sponsorship pack arrived today.
Was only a 2-3 week turn around to get the lanyards & stickers to arrive.
But yes the Membership Letter I sent somehow got returned back to me as well!!
But thanks for the Web Admin changing my profile to a NSW Member AAA+++
Heaps happy now
As I did pay back in May...

I only found the web site global.rakuten.com.
Is that the one you were referring to Lee?
-
yes i do. i think ive got them for sale for $45 for both + postage.
You sure the Gasket is the same for the GT-8 because you bought yours for the Y34 Gloria, didn't you Lee-Ham???
-
Did Nissan do the TCU (Transmission Control Module) fluid deteoration fluid sensor reset as well??
Did they replace the o-ring & filter also?
I've got the same model with 90,000kms now & CVT.CO.NZ aren't interested in sending me the tranny filter & o-ring seperately!!!
Any chance you can find out the cost to ship the KTF-1 oil from North Shore Nissan to Gordon, 2072, NSW via Sea Mail & not courier via you???

Hi all,
Im hopping some one can help with this we have recently picked up our V35 350GT8 2002, Most of the time the car is fine but twice the car has been on the Highway and twice the car has appeared to start slipping, ie. revs increase but the speed does not to the extent that the car is doing 100klm/h and doing 4500rpm (there is still drive there) at which point I pulled over let the car sit for a minute then once we had taken off it was fine.
Has any one heard of this before???
The 'Snow' Button was on my mums cars when she experienced the same problem.
Higher Revs than normal.
Make sure this is off!

Good ol' thread, cheers folks I have contacted some of you via PM Messaging from this page today

I got the Meguiar's Headlight Lens Correction Kit from Repco $65.
Includes the Sand Papers #1-#4.
Buffing Cloth with Polish & the UV Protectant Sealant Polish as the final stage!
I done mine in about 1:30hrs.
Could of been done neater with much more time as you say 'machine buffing' to remove all sanding marks from the previous user!!!
Here are the pix before & after of mine.
Road actually looks brighter now after the procedure with the HID's fitted

Is there a Filter inside the CVT that can be changed as well?
Like Auto's have or just the O-ring & that's it!?
-
What the???
VLSD Fluid that is used in a Remote Controlled Car??? Lol

Exactly the same thing that is happening with me!+1 to MV. theyre currently sending me a shift kit for the RE4.
cvt.co.nz do sell gear too, but they werent interested in my business once i said i wasnt buying oil from them.
31526-5P009 (O-Ring)31397-5P000 (Gasket) (someone will need to confirm Y34 is same as V35. it should be same, but Y34 is "6 speed" CVT so small chance is different sump)
CVT.CO.NZ - don't want to help you out unless you're buying oil from them for the Extroid!!! How lame...
You still have the gasket & o-ring for the GT-8 CVT Lee-Ham?
-
The early CVT's had only one drum in the fluid, which meant the higher drum wore quickly if the fluid was old or the fluid level was low. The newer CVT's, both drums are in the fluid, which makes them much more reliable. This is essentially why the early CVT's got a bad name.
I spoke to my Nissan mech buddy last night, there is definitely a fluid timer which changes certain functions as the fluid deteriorates. This can be reset from the Consult3 as I thought.
But would the PV35 have a fluid deterioration sensor?
Has anyone got a GT-8 & confirm they had theirs reset after the flush???
As the way I am reading this page, is that its mainly in the J31 (Pushbelt) CVT models that you can have it reset?!
-
Yeah I remember that. He used some insane weight (something like 1,000,000 viscosity) of RC car oil to fill the diff center or similar. Said it worked a treat.
What acronyn is 'RC' Josh???

Cool, thanks for the info
Hi-Flow Aftermarket CATS it is...

Whatever the Tune may be.
Discovery Series 1 is the only vehicle besides Commercial, that could handle 4.500kg towing these days!!!
As you can get Iron Man B Rated Coil Spring for the rear & mine weighed 2.5t wet weight (no sway with a tri-axle flatbed trailer loaded)!
As Dodge RAM 3500HD, Chevrolet Silverado 3500 & Ford F-350 all count as Commercial Vehicles on Rego...
With Dual Sun Roofs, V8 & full leather you seriously can't go wrong!

Was wondering if there were any options to upgrade the stock open diff that comes in the Auto V35?
I have found that on take off @ a busy intersection the back left wheel will break traction easialy and then traction controll will kick in and everythig slows down. Was thinking that a LSD would help since power would go evenaly to both rear wheels. Have also noticed this when turning right and giving it a bit of stick mid turn
Badluck, but my LSD Diff breaks Traction just the same as yours! Lol
Therefore you turn the VDC off when you're ready to take off from uneven surfaces...
-
LSD it is for the GT-8 & 6MT...according to this -
The CVT and 6MT sedan came with VLSD as standard.
Best Ever Spec Sheet!!!
Thank you so much Greg AAA+++
PS. Do you read/write Japanese?
To do the same and source out a workshop manual in English in any format as I can only find a Japanese CD Workshop after countless searches!
-
Damn I would of got the CAT combo one if I knew about it before!!!
As an Exhaust shop was saying it was going to be $1,500 for a set of CATS if I needed to replace mine in the future!
How do the In-Line Resonator pipes;
produce slightly more rwhp???, Than the S.S Test Pipes;
Or shall I go for the Spun CAT design (http://www.kinetixracing.com/kinetix_350Z_and_G35_high-flow_catalytic_converters.aspx)
with improved strength & more clearance???
As when I bought the car, the front left CAT was touching the underbody when under load.
After the exhaust system got fitted, its been better after some slight man power bending.
But I can still hear it when uphill in 1st gear taking off!

Isn't the above picture what a Velocity Plenum is Andrew?Apparently they are not worth the time, money or effort. Most reviews don't paint them in a positive light. The more popular option is the Cosworth setup.
Or for much less money get the Kinetix V+ plenum for VERY similar (if not superior) results.
http://www.z1motorsports.com/350_g35/product_info.php?cPath=427_429&products_id=2172
Cosworth Twin Air Intake USD: $1,342 vs Kinetix Velocity Plenum USD: $758.
Well obviously anything with a dual air intake will piss over a single air intake anyday.
Like the 370GT's have...
Cosworth is the photo below, correct?
What about O2 issues.
Anyone have issues with aftermarket Plenums or Manifolds on here???
