Without knowing what your short list includes, I learnt at my local Chinese restaurant tonight of a 2014 Lexus IS-F with 20,000Km that's supposedly going for  $55K.

But I bet the restauranter has got something wrong in the data somewhere. It's too cheap. Lol

    Hi Terry,

I'm not made of money lol!

I originally wanted an 05 or 06 wrx sti which I did have and were both a nightmare. Both needed rebuilds almost as soon as I got them after taking them to different mechanics.

    I want a JDM S15 (99' or 00') or an R34 GTT (Can't afford a GTR :( ) - Budget is about $18k or a bit more for the right one

There is very little of both to pick from locally and the ones I do like and have contacted just seem suss to me.

I am thinking of importing but this would cost more than if I find one already here

  2. Hi Guys,

I have purchased a few cars privately over the years and all have had had problems very early on. I'm not a mechanic but I have a good idea of what to check prior to purchasing and I triple check everything yet I have been burned 3 times now...

I can't believe I am even thinking about buying another performance car but I haven't had a car I am happy with at all. I want to give it 1 more shot to put a god damn smile on my face.

Is there anyone honest in Sydney that can help me out with buying a car that has good knowledge of what to look for and how to avoid these f**king lemons? A case of beer or few will be your reward.

Please PM me! I am located in Ryde

I am just in this state of mind now where I think everyone is dodgy and whatever car I end up buying will need a rebuild pronto.

P.S - It's not my driving if that's what you are thinking. All of them have been bodged up before they sell them and I draw the short straw every time even with "pre-inspections". I think they are a load of shit, they look like they are checking everything but how can this happen?!

Also I think it's worth mentioning I am not taking these cars to backyard mechanics, these are some of the most well known shops I have taken my cars to.

Currency Exchange At The Moment:- If one wants to buy a car from Japan, it may be well worthwhile to hold off until August. The Bank of Japan is said to be expanding their QQE Programme at the 29th July.

If the outcome is as predicted, we may see the Aussie Dollar worth 95 Yen once more. That'd be 23% more value in the AUD as you bid at auction; but also buying a JDM through private treaty.

Have you got the source for this ? I am about to sign up to start the process for importing but would wait a few weeks if this is solid news. If true it would be awesome!!
