  1. Hey man,

Similar issue about 6 months ago on my 370gt coupe. Rattling etc
Nissan quotes $1193.45 For one.. Lol

I went HFC ($600 installed) But have since just swapped to 370z cats ($200 plus $100 to install)
Keep an eye out for 370z cats or just go hfc [emoji4]
Thanks mate, I will definitely go for HFC. Are you in the eastern States? Prices in WA are a bit more than the eastern States. The local Nissan dealership in Perth quoted $2k per cat lol
  2. Super Cat Converters in wangara sell them they are a wholesaler who supply to exhaust shops.

Much appreciate the valuable advice. Will look into HFCs and give the Super Cat converters in Wangara a shout and see what they say. I've checked their website and they do installations as well. This is my first Japanese import vehicle so not too sure where to source quality mechanics and part suppliers. Any suggestions for good mechanics/mod shops and tuners in the greater Perth region?

  3. Hey guys,

I have 2008 v36 370gt. Everytime the car is turned on and is idling I hear a rattling sound. Took it a mechanic and was told the cats are nearly done - got a quote from Nissan for $2000 per cat lol. For a second opinion took it to Autobahn here in Perth, and I was advised that they can "regenerate" cats and it would stop rattling. I've booked the appointment for Regen early next year. I personally think I'll have no luck with the regen so now I am starting to look for a plan b. Would it advisable to change the whole exhaust system and this would take care of the rattling sound? If yes, what would be a nice exhaust system that is not too obnoxious (as I use my car as my everyday) but can roar on higher revs when needed [emoji23]

Also, folks from Western Australia, any recommendations for a good shop I could go to?

    Thanks in advance.

  4. Nickcorr is spot on here. It took around four months for my front bumper to arrive. If you want it quicker, it is identical to that of the 2012 G37 but you'll need to convince your dealer to get it in for you, as they usually ask for the VIN.
Everyone gets treated as a second class citizen when it comes to imports, even when you have a friend at a dealership like I used to. Nissan Australia make it intentionally painful.
Thanks The Max, I was thinking of just contacting infinity directly and give that a go if it doesn't work, then I will go through my dealer and see how we go with it. After reading nick and your posts, I felt a bit at ease coz I was gonna go crazy at nissan tomorrow morning. I completely agree with you on that one besides we pay top dollar to have genuine parts imported. This is the worse experience ever.
    Regards,
    S
  5. Looks like you have a coupe rather than a sedan, so that makes a difference.. (My sedan was waiting 3 months for a new bumper from Japan, and the panel beater said that was very common..)
With the Coupe being sold in AUS as an Infiniti, have you contacted them as well? There might be something G37 that is suitable.
Thanks for that Nickcorr. I'm going to email infiniti today and see what they have to say.
But really disappointed with nissan on this one.
    Thanks once again [emoji1]
  6. Hey guys,

I have a 2008 nissan skyline v36 370gt. My front bumper is damaged in a crash. The person at fault doesn't want to go through insurance due to high excess on his policy. So I got parts ordered from Nissan they were due to arrive on 06/01/2018, around Christmas got an email saying they have been delayed and now expecting them on 16/02/2018 and I just got an email from them saying its again delayed till 09/03/2018. Guys, need some help here regarding where I can find a brand new bumper and get it all fixed in the greater Perth region.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. Hey all,

Lately I've been experiencing rough gear shifts and the receptiveness I feel has been significantly reduced. When i push the pedal to the metal, it takes longer for the gear to down shift and when I release the pedal it sort of stalls at the lower gear (high revs) and it's pretty rough. Has anyone experienced something like this? If so, how was it fixed?

Would really appreciate some insight on this.

    Thanks in advance.

  8. Parking Sensor Recommendations Hi,

Looking at getting some parking sensors installed on my V36, first of all are there genuine Nissan ones available to purchase? If not, does anyone know of a particular make that looks almost OEM?

I saw a V36 listed on CarSales with the following sensor display, unsure if its from manufacturer though.

    Thanks,
    Jacob
    Hey Jacob,

I have this in my v36 and sometimes it gets really annoying since it keeps beeping if there are cars that are upto 10m away. I got it with my car and did not have to install it. We can "mute" it but as soon as the vehicle goes over 20kmps, it gets out of silent mode. It's annoying when driving during rush hour. I would recommend looking at an after market part instead.
    Good luck.

  9. Looks like maybe.. just maybe the cable I linked before might help him. But best to check.

Also worth noting, is the handbrake mod might be needed so the video doesn't cut out when moving. I believe this is just grounding a certain cable, but that might be needed to keep picture showing like mine does. I'd imagine the audio stay anyway.

See this thread, as it may help

    Hey Pete_Repeat,
I finally got the mirabox installed. However, I am faced with the following challenges :

    1. I can mirror screen and screen only... For some reason, my audio isn't mirroring... I think that's because of some sort of limitations of my mirabox may be? Not too sure. My box has WiFi mirroring. May be there's no audio via WiFi? Did you come across something of this sort?

    2. Parking brake mod [emoji20]. I've looked through the entire thread and I found its just grounding a cable. But will definitely look extensively on it. Any tips on this?
  10. I can't believe even Nissan would charge you $3800 for a couple of cat converters.
George will sell you some for about $250 each

Excellent link mate, I've messaged George on ebay asking for recommendations. Personally I don't mind spending up to $2k for the exhaust system. Let's see. Any suggestions on good ones? As I mentioned, I am not looking for attention something loud and attention seeking.
  11. One option also is to use an android box installed in the car. Perhaps using a bluetooth touchpad to control and include a Bluetooth media remote for ease of changing tracks.
Getting data using your phone hotspot perhaps.

    Hi Pete_Repeat,

Many thanks for all the in depth insight on how to get this to work. I've contacted sinergy about the cable harness. Let's see what they have to say. If they can do a conversion to English, I don't even mind driving there from perth to get it done [emoji1]
It's really frustrating to listen to music and then the Bluetooth drops off lol
  12. I got a quote through SGIC under my mothers name for $1230, $1000 excess plus $300 for being under 25. That's the best by far I have got so far. I'm currently waiting on a broker to get back to me to see if they can get something cheaper so I will post what ends up happening.
I've tried all the major companies, only sgic has quoted me under $1700 a year.

Try Shannon's, I'm paying $1300 per year with $500 excess. They are pretty good.
  13. Hi fellow skyliners,

I have a 2008 v36. My car has been having a rattling noises when idling. I took it to my mechanic and he reckons its cat converters. Upon asking nissan for quotes it's about $3800 for the two plus labour. I was thinking that I could possibly get something else probably cheaper and as effective? I am not looking for something really loud... I kinda like the stock sound but don't mind if it gets a bit louder and deeper. My mate told me that he removed the cats but ever since he's been having fuel efficiency probs.

Could I get something after market that would do the job and give me bang for my buck?

Would really appreciate all help, suggestions and ideas.

    Thanks in advance.

  14. Hey dude,

Nah no luck so far aye.

I'm probably going to have to end up going to an Auto Electrician. [emoji20]

I've gotten in touch with sinergy motor sports from SA and they have a RCA Harness that may work but from what I've researched it plugs in the back of the head unit.

    Please see the link below

    http://www.sinergymotorsports.com.au/cart/products-page/nissan-skyline-v36/video-rca-input-cable-harness/

Again, I'm not 100% sure if this will work but I'm still researching on it and nobody from sinergy has gotten back to me. May be you can show it to the auto electrician and see if it works. I would strongly recommend to get a professional opinion before you order a $100 cable.
  15. Not sure on the adapter. My car came with the rca inputs already in the centre console/arm rest.
I think this goes in the back of the headunit so is more work, but maybe it'l fit in the unusual connector you have in the centre console.

I do stress, I am not speaking from experience for this so hopefully someone whom has done this will comment.

    Hey Pete_Repeat,
I've contacted sinergy to see if they have it in Stock.. Fingers crossed! Will keep you posted.
  16. Co axial in the centre console. Perhaps it's just a matter of finding the right wires on the back of that plug and wiring them up to an rca plate? Would have thought the analogue video and audio input was on that plug.
There would likely be info out there about this, either for the v3ů or G37 I'd say.
Edit: I vaguely reebr reading itay have both composite and coaxial video on that plug.. But could be wrong.

    Hey Pete_Repeat,

So I just got the mira box. Nobody in Perth is installing it. I can hook it up to power it but need serious help with having it connected to the head unit. To avoid static, I would like to go for the wired option. I am tired of looking for a cable to go in my aux port in the Centre console since I don't have a standard RCA Input in the center console. Any idea where I can order the cable or adapter from?

    Thanks in advance.
