  1. Thread revival.

I have MCA BLUE in my EVO X and my GTR R33 (now sold) has MCA RACE PRIME with 14kg front and 8kg rear which is in between their recommended tarmac and circuit set up. The RACE PRIME even with a much stiffer set up drove better and dampened bumps on the street better than the blues.

I would say MCA know their stuff so dont be put off by the high spring rates.

I have now also ordered some MCA RED for my evo X  and I have gone with the same set up between MCA's tarmac and circuit rates. This works out to be 10kg springs front and rear so im expecting them to handle better on street and track than blues with the more sophisticated valving.

Nice car mate are you happy with it?
I miss my 33 gtr there is something about them I like.

    Hi.

Ye im happy with it since I improved the tuning,  brakes tyres and suspension. It really goes and handles well now.

I wanted to use it as a track car but although it has lots of great mods it would benefit from an extended baffled sump tomei oil pump and a few other things to get it track ready which I hadn't allowed for. So it will be a expensive excercise.

Evos are certainly cheaper to use as a track car

    Hi guys,

I have done a forum search and can find a little bit of info but I'm keen to understand if there are more areas that are common to rust on R33 GTR than what I note below

    Wheel arches

Spare wheel area in boot and boot channels

    Chassis rails

    Strut top etc.

I have experience with R32's but unsure if there are any subtle differences with R33's

    Thanks for the help

You got it covered mostly. I cant think of anywhere else.

  6. I just installed my coilovers on my GTR. I had never done coilovers before but it was pretty easy. Literally 3 bolts on each coilovers. Just needed to remove the back seat and parcel shelf to gain access to rears. Oh btw if you are doing this at home then on the front you need to jack up both sides  to the same height to release tension to get the coilovers to slot into the mounting points.

I went with MCA race primes with 14kg front and 8kg rear springs which is between their default Tarmac and circuit set ups.

I thought they would be boneshakers on the road but they ride the bumps pretty well I actually thought they would be a lot worse. Id go as far as go say its pretty comfortable. I have an EVO X with MCA blues on and they ride better than them.

So anyone thinking of buying MCA coilovers dont be too alarmed by the high spring rates.

Would you be willing to ship the muffler to Melbourne? And also take some pics?
    Cheers

It is HKS but it doesnt have it stamped on it. I remember reading up on this issue.

    From Supra forum....

"The original HKS Ti 4'' racing exhaust hasn't got any 'HKS' marking on it. It only has a small plate on the band which
says : RO Jasma member and a code (051 G16), and a row of Japanese writing. It doesn't say HKS anywhere.

Jasma means : Japanese Automotive Sports Muffler Association , like 'TonyN' mentioned above....
Being Jasma certified ,it means it is street legal and it's OK for street use.,
But the HKS 4' Ti for the Supra exceeds the 'Jasma' certification thus the 'RO' designation beside the 'Jasma' ,
which means 'Race Only'. So the 'RO Jasma' designation is not for street use...BUT it designates that it is a genuine exhaust unit
    made in Japan.

So in other words...'thrustn' your HKS 4' Ti exhaust is a genuine product by 'HKS',so no worries about it.
My friend from U.K. has a mk4 with the HKS Ti on it. And it has only the RO Jasma label on the muffler band !
I am looking to get one for my Supra also, but I need to save some cash first cause this exhaust ain't cheap... LOL"

I spoke to Dan this morning and yes TMR can crack the TCU software. Speak to Dan McCoey he is very knowledgeble.

If you speak to him this week tell him Tony referred you he is working on my car as we speak.

Appears to be a SST tunning issue which no other major workshop has picked up on. And im talking a 'few' specialist Evo workshops.

Wow thats huge news. People all over the world have been trying to crack it since 2008. I knew they could control some SST tables but to have full control of the TCU will help performance a lot.

Mine is more of fixing a slipping issue and possible replacing of clutch packs. $5 to $6k exercise.

But if you have a specific question i can ask next time i chat to him next week.

Ye I had slipping in mine too so I installed new Viton seals and SSP 600HP rated clutch packs. Mine shifts hard and fast in supersport mode but still slips slightly in normal and sport. Afaik nobody has cracked the TCU software so the slipping in normal and sport cant be improved on too much so I always drive in supersport with paddles.

Lumpy idle. Yeah its probably the cams. I saw just yesterday a blue gtr with tomei cams and e85. It was very lumpy on cold start and idle. Some cam gear adjustment will help shift the powerbank; great for an upgraded turbo rb26, especially on slower corners and on the street.

The car looks great, i had an r33 gts4 a long time ago and ive always loved the r33 gtr. Definitely put a stock rear bumper on, we are over the whole bling bling bodykits. Oem is king now.

Ye ok. Will get the cams looked into. Im going to collect a black rear bumper tomorrow. $20

I read that  the gtst and gtr are the same rear bumper so it should fit.

    Cheers

  11. Just got my R33 GTR tuned today. Pretty happy with it as it was running like crap before.

I just took it out for a blast and on 1 occasion it hesitated a bit around 4000rpm and then took off like a rocket. I will look closer at the rpms tomorrow.

Should i be concerned about the AFRs between 4-5000rpm. He said take it back if I have any issues. The last owner said the cams might need timing.

The guys at PZP are good blokes

Very impressive. I know that with modern single turbos, more power can be made but some people enjoy the factory twin turbo sleeper look; im one of them.

Your figure is a perfect number for daily and track days; also the occasional spirited twisties.

Was there any cam gear adjustment?

I dont think so but it might need it does run a bit lumpy on idle. Ye its plenty power for track now, any more and I will need a big brake kit. I just ordered some pfc rotors for front and some pfc 11 pads all round. I have Pfc uprades on my M3 and its so good with stock calipers.

Please let us know how your dyno tune went. I think it will make 240awkw.

450whp on 2wd dyno. So on 4wd dyno im guessing 410whp going by other peoples experience.

Only running around 18psi or 1.25bar max boost. He said engine is very healthy and car is in great condition

Pretty happy with that. It feels pretty quick now.
