Apart from the whiteline sway bars, castor arms, K&N filter and 18" wheels (235/40Z R18) the car is stock mechanically. Nice tidy example - reasonable offers accepted :P

  2. Hi all,

Have decided to sell my Stagea: I don't really drive it any more as I have been getting into riding my motorcycle and as such have found that weeks and weeks can go by with out me even hopping into the car.

So, it is a dark blue 1997 series 1 with all the usual RS FOUR 2.5L RB25DET fruit, plus:

    Twin sun-roofs

    18" rims with good rubber

Anti Sway bars (as discussed in this thread)

    Castor arms (as above)

DVD/CD/MP3 Player and in dash screen

    Sheepskins

    Roof racks/bars

    K&N air filter

Car also has the rear cargo cover

    New Battery as of 24/12/05

Regular service (Spark plugs changed and fuel injectors cleaned at some stage)

Balance of 3 year warrenty (about 23 months left on warrenty)

I bought the car with 119K kms on the clock in December 2004 - I have done about 6K in the last 13 months, so as you can tell I haven't been driving it too much at all.

Car runs fine and I do still enjoy driving the car when I do, but basically now I don't really drive at all (ride the bike) and I can really do with the money to do some renovations/alterations to my house.

So if interested then please phone 0412 856 878 rather than PM or post here as I do not frequent this forum anymore either. I am in Perth, North Eastern Suburbs.

    Cheers,

    Steve E.

  3. Thanks guys - I rang the guy who put the plugs in but he is away for a few days - I want to find out whether he did set the gap to 0.8 or just whacked them in as is. Also want to find out why he chose BKR5EIX-11 plugs as opposed to something like BCPR6EIX.

  4. Just looked at the part number of plugs that were installed - NGK BKR5EIX-11 - now would these plugs have too large a gap and be too 'hot' for a standard stag engine with out mods apart from a panel filter?

Would the larger gap also make the car feel a little sluggish apart from the possibility of mis-firing? I am wondering whether the problems I am still experiencing with the odd running of my car is now also due to incorrect spark plugs... any comments?

    :)

  5. Sounds a bit strange.  Have you run the auto box diags ??

Yes it is strange (i.e., damn annoying), and no, I haven't tried the box diagnostics - now I know I read that somewhere here on how to do that, so I guess I better use the search feature and find that post...

    :)

  6. I had the spark plugs replaced - the originals were still in the car. Had injectors cleaned, transmission and diff oil replaced...

Car still misses and does strange things with the g box swapping gears while cruising and not changing down when cornering...

Apparently no cracks in the coils. Been told it might be air flow meter or fuel flow sensor thing - as the car does not exhibit the problems consistently, the auto electrician/mechanic couldn't find any faults, so have to wait until the car misbehaves consistently ;)

  7. Someone told me the auto box in the series 1 stag is the same as in the big nissan four wheel drives - so should we tell people the stag is a 'mini-patrol'? :)

I just tell people that it is like a skyline station wagon - 2.5 single turbo and auto box, oh and 4WD - they make up their own mind what ever else the car may be like underneath, ontop, inside, outside or whatever

  8. Yeah has a safety mechanism built in - changes down and up if you **** up... down im not sure at what revs but it does it, and up when you're too far into the redline!

See, that's what I don't like with the triptronic - you brake into a corner and go to change down, but the auto has already changed down and you end up in first and, well, that kind of sucks - no, it's BLOODY HORRIBLE! :P

I understand the safety thing, but I guess just at what RPM it automatically changes down is going to affect the 'feel' of driving the box...

  9. Thanks for the link...

They've got those Teins that were being discussed a few weeks ago - I wonder what the shipping cost would be, and of course installation... and, oh, I can't afford it anyway while I'm renovating my house :)

  10. Stuff the smokers, that's a great idea you've got there Brazen :)

    J

Please don't stuff the smokers anyone - we are persecuted enough as it is...

"For every smoker you oppress, God makes an ill-fitting gauge holder - oh, and then kicks you in the nuts" :kick:

  11. Got the tiptronic Series 2 and it is fast and smooth... and Tigerloo - u can still keep 2 hands on the wheel coz the gear-shift controls are mounted there :)

I wondered what those buttons were in your pic in another thread - thought it might have been stereo contols :headspin:

I'm still not convinced with the need for a triptronic - even if the Series 2 is quicker than other shifts - not using a clutch just seems, well, not right when changing gears... No, actually it is WRONG TOTALLY WRONG

Besides, I'm too lazy to change gears now...

BTW Brazen, does the series 2 change down automatically when you brake?

  12. Pretty certain it is one of the fuses in the fuse box under the bonnet - I know when I replaced all my fuses last week that I heard the sound of the boot motor turning over when I pulled/replaced one of the fuses - 10 amp I would reckon at a guess - possibly lower right hand side of the fuse box when looking from the drivers side... but that may not help...

  13. If you really want to set off the yellow then get a set of indigo coloured rims, though it will depend on how visually 'loud' you want to go - indigo coloured gunmetal finish if you can find them shouldn't look too bad. I reckon black rims would just concentrate attention to the yellow without taking notice of the rims. Gunmetal would look ok, but even a hint of indigo in the rims would work better from a colour contrast point of view.

  14. After that, i had to cut a piece out of the bumper support, which i just used my jigsaw. i broke 2 blades doing this however. A fair amount had to be cut out of my front bar as well, but i forgot to get photo's of that.

You only broke two blades? How many knuckles? :( That looks like some pretty serious cutting for a kit that just 'bolts in' - good effort, looks like a good job!

  15. Just my 2c worth, but I reckon triptronic is a waste of time - doesn't feel like a real stick and the lag in the change ruins any of the feel in the control of the box... You can get much the same control using the go and stop pedals and leave both hands on the wheel... Also without a clutch, changing just a gear selector just doesn't feel right to me...

What I would like would be for the dash lights to reflect what gear the car is actually in rather than simply diplaying what position the gear lever is in. My last car had triptronic and the dash lights reflected what gear the auto box was in - that I miss, but not the triptronic shift. I also found that with my previous car the fuel economy REALLY sucked when using the triptronic - the Stagea doesn't need much help in the fuel sucking department!

    But, just my 2c

  16. If I get less than 300k on 3/4 tank of fuel then I feel cheated...

Using BP Ultimate which is around $1.06/L I think (I don't pay much attention to the price of petrol - it is still cheaper per litre than warm coke!). Problem with BP is that there aren't any in my suburb - the closest being about 6k away...
