    Springnats now in its 16th year and continues to attract over 700 entrants and 40,000 people over one weekend providing a unique environment to compare and compete.

    Now into its third year the Murray Bridge AutoFest is the promotion of a performance car festival that provides the true motor vehicle enthusiast with the opportunity to display their skills and vehicles against other enthusiasts in a safe, controlled and friendly environment.

    The venue for the 2009 AutoFest is again Sturt Reserve at Murray Bridge which offers an ideal location with its unique, ready-made roadways suited to driving events and display areas set on beautiful landscaped surrounds. AutoFest is all about admiring the best cars in the land and spending quality time with family and friends, whilst witnessing some of the most powerful cars compete side by side in events such as Go To Whoa, Motorkana, Show N Shine, Car Audio Competition, Dyno Challenge, Cruise Track and the fiercely competitive Burnout Title.

    We welcome our newest member Corowa to our event calendar. The venues for the 2009 Corowa AutoFest on Saturday 28th February 2009 are Bangarang Park and on Sunday the Corowa Airport. Both venues offer the ideal location. Bangarang Park with its unique, ready-made roadways suited to driving events and display areas set on beautiful landscaped surrounds and the Corowa Airport where the Drag Racing will take place.

    All our events are alcohol free and thus promotes a true family atmosphere where spectators are able to enjoy the enthusiasm and excitement of a motor vehicle event in a friendly environment. This has been evidenced by the fact of strong crowd attendances consisting largely of families of all ages.

  6. Press Release 22/10/2007

    Murray Bridge Autofest and the Murray Bridge Beach Party Race Day both welcome the inclusion of the Murray Bridge Speedway into the calendar of events planned for this coming Australia Day weekend.

    As a group it is planned to promote Murray Bridge with the “All Roads Lead To Murray Bridge” brand and this will be promoted via local media, national motoring publications, interstate Television as well as SA television and radio.

    It is foreseen that the Australia Day weekend will be one of the largest on the Murraylands calendar of Events with visitors traveling from most parts of Australia to witness what will be on offer.

    The weekend will kick off with the Murray Bridge Racing Clubs “Australia Day Beach Party from 12 noon you will be able to get into the trackside atmosphere. There’ll be an eight race program with the feature event being the $20,000 Australia Day Cup.

    Enjoy an ice cold beer or Daiquiri at the Beach Bar, grab some prawns off the BBQ, with a side dressing of swimwear parades, live music and lots of fun things for the kids. Murray Bridge racecourse may be 50km from the beach, but that’s not stopping the club from putting on what could be the biggest beach party of the year! The race day is a celebration of our great Aussie lifestyle, and what better way to celebrate than having a race meeting at the beach.

    It will be a fantastic place to be on Australia Day, and it’s an easy 45-minute drive down the freeway from Adelaide. Marquee and Hospitality Packages can be arranged at the club.

    Then its off to Sturt reserve for the Murray Bridge Autofest, now in its second year this action packed three day event will be the largest modified car event in SA with over 16000 spectators in its first year that came to witness the car on display as well as seeing driving events such as the Go To Whoa, Dyno Challenge, Motokana and of coarse the Mighty Burnout Competition it is expected that this will rise to over 20000 in 2008.

    Now if that’s not enough Saturday Night, it’s off to the Riverview Speedway for their night of non stop action. With action on the track from V8 Super Sedans and 360 Sprintcars. Also the production car based street stocks, V8 Trucks and also featuring the Riverview Sidecar Spectacular will see the night out with guaranteed action on and off the track. With a full programme tailored to compliment the horsepower weekend. Gates open at 5:30pm with track action from 7pm.

    As a lead up to the Australia Day Weekend in Murray Bridge the Riverview Speedway will be running a Burnout Night on the 17th of November and winners of each category that have cars with current SA registration and that enter the Murray Bridge Autofest will automatically go through to the finals and will not have to qualify on the Saturday in January.

    August 31, 2007

    WODONGA TURNING

    INTO A CAR MECCA

    WODONGA has secured its second annual car event this month, with Autofest organisers locking in the Wodonga Racing Club site for next year’s event.

    The event will be known as the Wodonga Autofest and will be held on February 23 and 24, 2008.

    This is just one month before the southern hemisphere’s biggest annual Chrysler expo — Chryslers On The Murray — to be held at the Gateway Lakes precinct in Wodonga from March 14 to 16, 2008.

    The Springnats Autofest has been running in Shepparton for 15 years and was held for the first time in Murray Bridge, South Australia and Albury in 2007.

    Wodonga has been chosen as the preferred site with the inaugural event expected to attract crowds of between 15,000 and 20,000 people.

    Wodonga Mayor Rodney Wangman said the two events combined would attract thousands of visitors to our great city.

    “Wodonga has the ability to put on large-scale events such as these, and we hope to build long lasting relationships with the organisers,” he said.

    “It is great news for local businesses especially accommodation providers as many interstate people are expected to make the trek, no doubt with their cars in tow.”

    Autofest is all about admiring the best cars in the land and spending quality time with family and friends, while witnessing some of the most powerful cars compete side by side in events such as:

    • Go To Whoa – fast pace action of timed vehicles competing over 140 metres who are required to stoop on a designated point;

    • Motorkana – fast paced obstacle course action, set against the clock;

    • Show N Shine – competitors show their restoration expertise and beauty of their cars;

    • Dyno Challenge – see cars go through their gears in a stationary position on the dyno machine; and

    • Cruise Track – open for competitors to cruise slowly around the site to show off their vehicles.

    Organiser Les Adams said they were looking for a more picturesque venue with more amenities, and the racecourse stood out as the ideal venue.

    “We hope our relationship with Wodonga Council will be a long-term partnership,” he said.

    “We have secured the racecourse for 2008 and 2009.

    “Autofest is a car festival especially for modified cars, but restored and original cars are also welcome and catered for.”

    Mr Adams said a highlight of the event would be the fiercely competitive Burnout Title.

    “We usually get anywhere between 50 to 100 entrants for it,” he said.

    Council will spend around $18,000 to stage the event, with the annual economic benefit being between $10 to $15 million per year.

    Wodonga Autofest will be promoted nationwide in 10 Australasian car magazines, the Trading Post, and regional television and radio.

    BLOOD, SWEAT AND GEARS

    As part of the 2007 Spring Car Nationals, Fox 8 will be filming an eight part series developed by Turtle Wax aptly named Blood, Sweat and Gears which will go to air on the network early in 2008.

    Blood Sweat & Gears, the first TV program of its kind in Australia will put drivers and cars through their paces in a number of grueling challenges to find the ultimate King of Cars.

    Spring Car Nationals organiser, Les Adams said the program is fantastic for Shepparton.

    “There will be national and possibly international coverage so it will definitely put Shepparton and Spring Nats on the map,” said Mr Adams.

    Greater Shepparton City Council Mayor Jenny Houlihan echoed the comments from Mr Adams, saying the town will benefit greatly from the coverage.

    “People flock to the town for the Spring Nats weekend, and Blood Sweat & Gears will give them further incentive,” said Cr Houlihan.

    The program is proudly brought to you by Turtle Wax polishes and all information, including entry forms can be accessed on the website at www.turtlewax.com.au.
