  1. BBC coverage is simply brilliant. I was lucky to watch three meeting whilst in europe.

Finally we are getting some better coverage. It will be good viewing seeing Kimmi start from that far back in the field in his return race. Hopefully we'll see his old skills when he was solemly pushing his limits.

Having not watched local FTA coverage for two years Ten/Ones coverage makes me want to top myself.

  2. the merc symbol looks pretty flat, so i'd back a step nose

I'd say its been photoshopped in there. There's no way you could illuminate the logo and have the rest of the nose black.

But I'd agree it's gonna be a step nose. Why else have an otherwise almost complete outline of the car and then a whopping great blackspot at the fugly part? The other black spot is the exhaust positioning for obvious reasons.

  3. some arguing that the exhaust outlet shouldn't be allowed to be shrouded thus wise?

Pretty sure there's an FIA technical directive saying that they wont allow the exhaust to be redirected like that for aero purposes. Something to that effect anyway. I'd fully expect that McLaren exhaust to disappear in the near future.

  4. Please please please Jenson win the first three races on the trot for the sake of your sport!!!!

I think you'd want the complete opposite to happen. Have the McLaren right at the back and the most pig ugly car up the front. If the McLaren demolishes all then the FIA wont have any reason to change the rules to force less ugly cars. "See, they can do it with a low nose, whats your excuse?"

McLaren have been saying the car will change between the launch and Jerez. Anyone wanna bet it pulls out of the garage at Jerez with a stepped nose like everyone else? (I hope not!)

  5. Ah, I don't get out enough :P phew :)

Dunno what I'm gonna do next year. BBC stream was so great, I actually enjoyed the commentary and discussion during the FPs more than quali and the race. Brundle just doesn't think before he opens his mouth 90% of the time. If I had a dollar for every time DC said "Now hang on Martin..."

Might just get whatever stream I can and listen to Radio 5 for commentary.

  6. Brundle's move will be along with the BBC's David Croft,

    NOOOOO! Not Crofty! f**king Sky...

From what I've read DC is staying with the BBC. Fewer races would probably suit his schedule better at the moment.

    Interesting with Ferrari and 3 car teams. With the number of good quality drivers missing out on seats it'd be nice to see a few 3 car teams. TeamOrders++;

  7. You lot are quick to jump on the bandwagon of unsupported assumptions.

Could it be that they have a desire to spent more money but currently don't? No way they MUST be cheating! It's the only explanation!

  8. From: http://www.infrastructure.gov.au/roads/vehicle_regulation/bulletin/importing_vehicles/general/pdf/VSB10_info_brochure_july_2011.pdf

At a minimum, the following criteria must be met:

    • Eligible vehicles for rally/race use are those homologated by the Federation Internationale de

l’Automobile (FIA). These vehicle models can be found listed at

    www.fia.com/homologations/Voit_Pays.html. (broken link)

    • Under normal circumstances, applicants will be restricted to importing a single vehicle and acceptable

reasons will need to be provided to import another vehicle for rally/race use.

    • Road vehicles for rally use are imported on the condition that they will only be used in the course of

competition, practice associated with competition and transport to and from a rally location.

    • The applicant must lodge with their application a statement that the vehicle will only be used for rally

purposes together with a copy of a current CAMS R3 or higher-grade licence. For closed circuit racing

the applicant must lodge with their application a statement that the vehicle will only be used for closed

circuit racing purposes together with a copy of a current CAMS C3 or higher grade licence.

    ....

if the vehicle is a model available in the Australian vehicle market, justification for the need to import

the vehicle (cost of the vehicle in the domestic market will not generally be considered an acceptable

    justification).

    emphasis mine.

AFAIK the S13 and on chassis' were never homologated with the FIA so theres the 180SX and Silvia out from the get go.

Wouldn't surprise me if they're saying there's enough GTRs (and silvias/180sx) to purchase locally, presuming it was a BNR32 and actually had FIA homologation.

How does ichi bahn operate? Import race only vehicles and then sell them on or just as an agent? Could it be an issue with the single vehicle requirement?

  9. No conspiracy, they simply make some dud calls.

Like Jenson just said in the post race interview, it can be better coming out second because you get the DRS. Its just unfortunate the DRS seems to barely work on the Redbulls and provides a zillion miles an hour for the McLarens.

  10. not a bad race in the end

    battle for P2/P3 saved it

For sure. Webbers still got it. Of course there's gonna be the usual conspiracy about the pitstop but I suspect Webber may have flatspotted the front left on what became the in lap. Pitting a lap later would have had the same result and a lap earlier could have compromised how long he could run later too. Who knows.

I felt the DRS detection zone was a tad idiotic and the circuit overall wasn't particularly exciting to watch.

So much for Paul Hembery being a liar eh?

  11. saying one thing at the start of the year, and now doing something completely different

the super softs this race is a fcuking horrible call

Beats 2005 when you only had one set of tyres to finish quali and the race. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz ad infinitum

I don't mind the fact that tyres blister and grain. It brings some strategy back into the racing since they removed refuelling. Plus its always humorous to watch hamo rape the shit out of his tyres trying to be a hero.

  12. probably has them adjusted so he can see himself in them

Button just busted his shitty excuse on the F1 forum. They asked him if his mirrors were bad, he replied "Nah they're alright, a little bit of vibration but I'd notice a big silver car in them". Fair enough to assume you'd notice a big red car in them too?

  13. remains to be seen what effect getting rid of EBD's will have on RBR, though

Wasn't there a change to the blown diffusers at Valencia and it had the opposite effect on Redbull relatively? Then the FIA scrambled to change the rule back. I wouldn't count on that alone bringing them back to the pack.

Rest of the season should be interesting with teams testing new bits and pieces.

  14. making sure that vetool has the best chance of getting the championship won today so that he doesn't slit his wrists after the race

lol he only needs to finish in the top 10. Webbers hardly a threat to his championship prospects.

Maybe Marks broken his leg shoulder again

  15. anyone else think that webber's race is being sabotaged by his team (surprise surprise)? one minute he's setting fast laps, next he's being brought in to be on the same strategy as vetool.

What does Redbull gain from that? The constructors* championship is still up for grabs.

Edit: Also, interesting that they didn't take the new wing off Webbers car when SV busted his on Friday.
