  1. yep.. but I don't get discounts on them.. will just sell as Nistune sells RRP... but you save on shipping if combine...
ECU.. no idea.. needs to be powered up.. can't just use the Internet to tell you if it works or not haha

Sounds good, something to think about.

I didn't literally mean "would it turn on" more re: compatibility with this ecu and thought with your experience selling nistune you may have come across someone with an r33 trying to use this ecu.

I just don't want to sink anymore money into this ecu unless I can be positive it'll be compatible.
  2. Well, I told you it was an RB25DE ECU.....
And yes it is chipped.....but there is no daughterboard.  All I can see is an EEPROM where the original EEPROM was.
You could quite easily buy a Nistune board to install into it.  The absence of the knock board is not something I've ever thought about before, not having looked into too many NA ECUs (ie, none!), but seeing as the knock detection on these old ECUs is usually pretty shitty, most people just end up putting the same values into both the main and knock maps to stop the ECU going soft all the time.  You're not going to be horribly handicapped by it unless Nistune just refuses to play.
But here's the other side of the coin.  Surely a suitable R32 RB20DET ECU is only 3 beers and a small reptile tank swap.  Just get another one.

I wasn't doubting your advice, I also come up with the same result of rb25e before posting this thread, I just wanted opinions without my bias added. I used the wrong terminology when I said daughter board before, I thought that was the cradle thing where the chip sits which definitely has installed.

RB20det ecu's are priced like they are gold plated because as you probably know you can't chip the r33 rb25det ecu's and have to use either rb20det or z32 ecu so demand and price has gone up. These ecu's go for about 250 second hand on eBay out of Japan, 25 years old plus and could be stuffed and then you have fit nistune on top of that which starts to get into the power fc price point. That is I why I bought this ecu, I thought I was getting a bargin but poor man pays twice I guess.

  3. Contacted the seller, the outside case is irrelevant just a spare cover he had laying around.

Apparently it is an r32 rb25de ecu and has been chipped to suit an r33 gts25t, which I didn't know was even possible... Just requires the wires from the third and fourth injectors to be swapped.

Has the daughter board fitted so I guess he has no reason lie. It appears to be lacking the knock board like 25t ecu so I probably won't be using the ecu anyway.

Contacted nistune, I think he thought I was a time waster lol, I do genuinely want to get nistune on an ecu. Probably just have join the nistune forum as suggested and get some more specific knowledge on the ecu...

  4. So I took the punt on scumtree and bought an r32 ecu chipped for rb25det.

I've received the ecu and it is chipped but checking the numbers they don't line up with an rb20det ecu and the numbers on the case don't match that of the board. So here's some pictures of what I've received...

I think the outside case is r32 gt-r but I don't think that has any relevance to what's in it.

  5. Less than 10k can get you a nice car like a Mazda 6 with under 100k on the odo. Why would you spend 30 if you're looking to buy a house... might be the difference between having to pay mortgage insurance or not. And if i were buying a cheap daily I'd stick with common makes and models that are known for reliability i.e. falcon, Commodore, most Japanese cars.

Why not r3X skyline they're reliable and economical if you don't modify them and can be bought for less than 10

  6. Hey Guys,

Just after a standard r33 ECU, it must be from a manual car and must be from a series 1.5 or 2.

The the sticker on the ECU should be

    MEC-6*** it is a series 1.5 ecu

    MEC-7*** it is a series 2 ecu

Not a MEC-5*** as this is a series one ecu and will not be suitable.

If anyone could sell me one of these it would be awesome!

    Thanks,

    Brett.

  7. ^^^ incorrect on the first part.

The waiting list got out of hand and Aaron had a disagreement with a partner, meaning he started to look bad as so many people guessed what was happening and then others repeated it.

End of the day, it was more profitable for him to get out of automotive and into another industry.

On topic; guessing a tune is just silly. The poor man does everything twice. Unless you're in a rural area with no access to a dyno, take it to a local tuner and be upfront about your budget and say you're happy to wait as you're not a high paying customer. Good luck with it, however you end up doing it :)

Not rural, but it's Toowoomba... There are actually a fair few dyno's but most of them only cater for diesels and the ones that can tune petrol turbos usually can't do it well and don't have a good rep. I have had bad experiences trying to get a PFC tuned in Toowoomba and wasted a fair bit of money only to have a car that could barely idle. That's when I gave up on it, sold the pfc and other supporting mods.

You and r31 are right, I'm just a bit lazy and didn't want to drive an hour to Brisbane to get it tuned. Toshi I found out is actually heading up to the gold coast/brissy next weekend to do tuning, might have to hit him up.

  8. Good luck trying to guess a tune :/

Perhaps have a search, there were threads on them from 3-4yrs ago, that would be the best bet for info.

My understanding is he uses saved maps from previous similar tunes and modifications, from searching I have found other customers that have had success with toshi remapped ECU's. I barely drive the thing anymore, just looking for the cheapest/easiest way to get it tuned for more boost without hitting R&R.

Had a search through many pages of threads from years ago, can't find much specific information, lost cause I guess :(

  9. Hey Guys,

Has anyone got any specs for the r33 hi-flow turbo slide use to do? what cartridge did he use? I think he use to call it a stage 3, rated at 250rwkw, max over size wheels for the housings. I'm trying to chase up a bit more information so Toshi on the forum can tune my standard ECU by mail to suit this turbo. Also does anyone have a dyno sheet with this turbo fitted?

I searched through the archives but couldn't find to much more information, btw what happened to slide and sliding performance??? he hasn't been active since last year and his trading website is down?

    Thanks,

    Brett.

  10. Exetel is easily the best value for money, I've looked through just about every adsl1 plan (can't get adsl2 where I am) and yeah... $45 gets you speed: 1500kb/s peak 12pm-12am 12gb, off-peak 12am-12pm UNLIMITED downloads and they don't count uploads as downloads as some sh1tty isp's do. There adsl2 plans are even better but living in sticks that's not an option for me. Haven't had an issue with them good customer service generally, no thick accents yet, perfect isp for bittorrenting.

  11. Hey guy's, the car is an r33 gtst with an airbag steering wheel and a really annoying tapping noise.

Has anyone some across this before? The tapping occurs when I rotate the steering wheel more than 90 degrees either way or driving over a pothole etc. It's like if something has come loose but it is still slightly attached and is just hanging there.

I have taken column shroud thing apart and located the noise to be coming from between the steering wheel and airbag assembly. The problem is airbags scare me and I really don't one blowing up in my face while I'm holding a screwdriver or something like that. So my next question is does anyone know how to pull one of these apart safely?

replies would be much appreciated :)
