  1. hi,

Just found this thread and thought if you were in need of some help i know a fella that did a ls1 conversion when he was working in western australia said it was a good job to do, Give Pete at Supreme Tuning a call 56299321

He can help point you in the right way if you lost

  2. Hi all

just jumped forums from vic to nsw

i was wondering if someone could point me in the direction of a good mechanic around cronulla area.

for me as im flyin up to sydney at the end of feb to collect my sisters car and drive it back down south .

but it needs a decent service before i attempt nine hours of driving. so any mechanics that you use would

be greatly appreciated not performance work shops just regular mechanics

    cheers

  3. the only gas in australia allowed for a/c in cars is r134a which is ozone freindly

no its quiet possible that you car had r12 in it which actually has a lower chill point.

so yes in theory there are colder a/c gasses. but no one is allowed to use r12 because it damages the ozone.

newer cars from around 1992 are r134 type systems. also you cant pop r12 into a r134 system as if there is resident r134 the two gases mix and cause major corrosion internally.i would take it to a auto elec who has experienced knowledge of a/c .ie knows the difference between out of gas and fooked a/c system parts.

you may well have a blend door motor issue . as they dont have a heater tap to turn off water to the heater core.

go and get it checked by a professional

    my two cents.

  4. pretty sure the thermo fan will be triggered via a pressure switch may only work when pressure reachs certain range

it may just be low on gas and need regassing

most nissan fans dont run straght away they need to have elevated hi side pressures for the fan to cut in to get some air flow

i would get you air con checked out before you got replacing relays

  5. been working there for the last 5 years in the dyno cells

not finalised if im goin this year may though

crazy car festival eats any car show in vic

so much of everything in one place

i have over the last few years seen the migration of v8s with forced induction take off

but jap stuff is still in the big hp area as well as insane naturally aspirated 8s

great car show to go to but yes there are pissed bogans by about 4 oclock that demand burnouts in any car that is still game to cut laps around

  6. should be there may slide my car in is ash has my name on the list

not entirely sure if i still exsist on the member list i know i paid but bec cant find my payment

so if not ill sort something out

is there a crew comin from SE melb ie berwick etc. for me to tag along with cos its a boring drive by myself

  7. ok what is the actual fault?

    ceized compressor?

    leaking evapourator?

    leaking tx?

drier gets replaced when compressor is done to have warranty but usually when you replcae the drier we recommend you replace the condensor which is infront of the radiator (removal of bumper which is about 1.5 to 2 hours ) to replace the evapourator you need to remove the entire dash board, center console and heater box which takes between 4 - 7 hours depending on how mucn of a PITA it is being!

have the done any checks of any sort ie with a/c guages? temporary regas with leak detectant dye to locate any leaks?

ef & el falcons are prone to leaking condensors along poor welds on let end tanks when we replace the replace the compressor & Drier as well, because of the change in a/c perfromance which if you don not replace the compressor you risk compressor failure which brings you back to square one because of debris being pumped around the system at my

    work we charger about

1200 i think i cannot remember but thats aroundish

for a condensor and compressor replacement.

evappourator and compressor will be around the 1500- 1600 because we would also replace the condensor to avoid any comebacks. it is strange they want to replace the tx valve. we generally clean and re fit them. unless they have been working incorectly or look shabby we then only replace it.

to have the system flushed should really only be done if compressor has failed and there is deffinent evidence of deris.

i find it strange that they havent mentioned replacing the condensor as they cannot be flushed due to the fact they are parrallel flow ie have end tanks. debris will sit any where in them and if you cannot pass flush through them they will not ever be clean and eventually will cause failure of the compressor

any ways this is my opinion only but i believe you are being taken for a ride because they do not seem to have a idea of the type of a/c system

    cheers!

  8. eddy must have found himself a new tuner

last time in the vh the engine was still on the original anthony roderigeous tune from two years ago ( of course with some tweaking but nothing major changed for two hole years) and still goin strong

the last time i saw eddy run his vh was probably the last time it made good horse power! - it was spewing water out every where and did its final two runs with the radiator cap loose

im sure that alternator tucked down there would be decent sucker 100amp or something

fuel pumps would cause a draw but the car only gets run flat piss for 30 seconds MAX at a time so the load would beable to be kept up with for that short while

    any ways

will be very interesting to see him again at summernats should be a good show down with craig munros vx
