  1. CAT6 in your house you mean?

CAT5e/CAT6 same same for the most part (if you are talking inside the house). Given it's coming 3.5km's, and then from wherever else... a few meters in your house aint going to make a noticeable difference.

OK should qualify this: the copper in my place was either green or black. So CAT6 made a huge difference in an older house. Also a central splitter of the Krone tool type (not dinky plug in type) is a very good thing. I didn't think 15m of dedicated ADSL re-cabling would make a substantial difference but the pinheads over at Whirlpool were adamant in their claims & in my experience they were spot on. Turns out 2pair copper is very lossy.

Prior to this work I was averaging 4Mb/s down speed, very disappointed :)

  2. I have both in the household.

BP cable is good. D/L speed is dependent on the number of users in your area. Upload speeds are utter shite irrespective of all other factors.

Internode ADSL2+ is killer, in my case twice the speed of BP cable (3.5Km to exch) BUT dependent on distance from the exchange, quality of copper from the xchange to your modem, waterproofing of cable joints etc etc. CAT6 helps a lot. The clincher was included usenet, 365 day retention.

Both are pricey compared to competitors, but the QoS of both is great.

  3. all my din spots are taken up, got an rs4s so i have the [torque, volts, boost] din unit + stereo + air con

not too sure where to mount it tho, running out of room

got a boost gauge on the a pillar already, ecutalk below the head unit (where i should have cup holders but i dont have any :P)

Blitz DC? can mount on any flat(ish) surface with DS tape.

  4. Just claim storm damage thru your insurance. I work in the business of removing/affixing things to rooves. Half our business is insurance. As for builders warranty, getting a claim is like trying to find a needle in a needlestack

  5. Yeah dont see why not they wouldnt cash settle you.

I would think it foolish of them not to. Given the number of witnesses, the Co's high profile and the fact my car was parked & locked. There is clearly a reason for the "cars with trailers only" sign, a long fixed chassis vehicle simply cannot safely maneouvre if the adjacent spaces are occupied. No such problem with an articulated vehicle.

My concern was with their insurance company, but evidently I won't have any involvement with them. Thank God!!

  6. Id contact the drivers Insurer first. Surely he has damage and would need it fixed which means he would have lodged a claim also.

Yes the coach/bus company that owns the vehicle & employs the driver contacted me 1st thing this morning to advise they have lodged a claim. I have all the details. It's a large private bus/coach Co. with a substantial fleet & good public profile & perhaps I'm overly optimistic but I believe they will do the right thing.

I will cover my arse to the furthest extent I can anyway!!

  7. My concern is that I am only covered for third party property damage. So I can't claim for this damage. If I was circumstancially classified as 'uninsured' what to do??

BTW if need be I could probably come up with 100's of witnesses, the buses were ferrying schoolkids & staff to and from a school sports carnival.

Sorry to be a pain, I've never made an insurance claim in 20+ yrs of driving!

EDIT: thx Beer Baron, your reply was quicker than mine. that is what I feared, wouldn't be the first time I've represented myself.

Surely I would go after the company rather than the individual (their vehicle, their employee, their policy)?

Also the bus was illegally parked in a clearly marked "cars with trailers only" area. Would this help my case?

  8. Hello guys,

Haven't posted for a loong time, and google was not my friend with this question. I know there's some Law talking gurus here, I would really appreciate some help on this one. ;) Here's the background first.

I have a cheap <$3000 car which was purchased for the sole purpose of tow rig. Said vehicle was parked legally in a council provided space with trailer attached at a public Sydney boat ramp, for most of yesterday. Upon returning from seafaring adventures it became clearly evident that said unattended parked vehicle had suffered some major damage :D

Turns out a full size Volvo bus was responsible for the damage, driver of this bus approached me & admitted liability (how could one NOT when it's parked), and was really very civil about the whole thing, to the point of staying at the scene well after the incident to await my arrival & subsequently explain the situation. I think he was surprised at how well I took it. A little courtesy & forethought goes a long way.

All details were exchanged etc, my vehicle tho crunched was perfectly driveable so I cleaned up the glass & plastic and went home.

I am only covered for third party property damage, could not justify full comp on a sub $3k vehicle that travels <1000km per year.

Is the bus companies' insurance co. obliged to pay up under such irrefutable circumstances or am I screwed????

I just spent $1200 on the car, goddamnit!

I'd be truly grateful for any educated responses, PM if it's more appropriate.

    Thankyou :D

  9. Wow it's been a while since I posted here... :D

Can any 'liner folk recommend a good panel shop in Artarmon to do some basic work; keying/sun & dooky damage etc??

So many choices of repairer - I would like some real-world feedback please. No "AAAAAA+++++ best ebayer eva" shenanigans.

Thank you all :) look forward to your opinions!

  10. hey mate you most likely have the wrong hand controller hence it will freeze on the apexi logo i think u need the FCC3 hand controler?

correct me if im wrong someone thanks :(

    Cheers

    Chi

Yeah I've done some more research. This commander is for FD3S. I need either 415-N001 or 415-X001. Nengun's website lists N001 as suitable for ER34....Godammit :P

  11. Here's the sitch: PowerFC model# PFC ER34 9906-0047

    Commander is: 9907-0018

When installed in ER34 NEO, engine starts and idles OK, but the commander display is stuck on the A'pexi logo. Doesn't advance to engine spec and no amount of button fiddling will allow it to advance any further.

Do I have the right Commander?? Am I overlooking something really simple?? It's caused me a litlle embarrassment :P Paulr33, got your ears on??
