  1. sorry my service was only for a new timing belt kit and i provided the water pump

if you can't do oils and coolants yourself you deserve to pay a lot of money luls

some ppl just cant be bothered to spend there weekend servicing there car ..they would rather a reputable workshop carry out the work and get a warrenty (well the workshop i work for does) incase anything goes wrong ..and enjoy there weekends driving it lol

  2. 2 hours!!! You must be driving to Gympie or something :laughing-smiley-014:

It's about 1 hour 20 give or take pending good traffic and stop lights to Chermside. But I left after peak hour, and came home after peak hour so they were good runs.

josh 1h 20 mins is slow u need to get a faster car :)

it takes me 1hr 20mins to travel to work in peak hour and its only 35km (from petrie to st lucia)

  3. lol. Yes I just took a wrong turn and ended up in an industrial estate with 100 other cars :)

They did ask if there was an emergency reason for me driving. The only thing I could think of was 'give me a few mins and ill come up with a good story'

    what

    emergency

i would have told the cop (unless u have a restricted licence) its a free country i can drive down this road if i like

geese i wonder how i would go with the cops if i went out on a fri or sat night

see the funny thing is a atmo bov is not a rwc item (go figure that 1)

  4. Yeah, good reason for that too. Airbags are proven to save lifes, and they are very effective in doing so. Id want the thing on there.

Either way is any of this confirmed by either DOT or Qld Police?

i do rwc (as i have a licence)

and if the vehicle comes out with a airbag from factory IT CANT BE REMOVED if the vehicle is being driven on the street

but saas do sports steering wheels with airbags and adr approved

  5. Ive been looking around and its pretty hard to find an rb20det over 400hp, is it because its really hard to do or isit because nobody wants to do it? If any1 has an rb20 with over 400hp or even ones hovering around the 380 mark tell us how they drive and how it was to do !!! come on need some love for the old 2 litre engine ! (2.2, 2.4 exepted aswell :thanks:)

here u go read this thread (78 pages of it ) its a thread deadicated to the rb20 engines

    http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/To...60r-t58229.html

  6. Need a good/excellent fabrication work shop to weld a new core into my intercooler. Brisbane northside.

    L= 600mm, W= 300mm, D= 100mm, is a Trust item can source core need skilled welder.

Any ideas welcome, also an idea on cost would be much appreciated, would consider using a non Trust core.

    Cheers, Ben :thanks:

do u need end tanks made up also

or do u have end tanks and just need them welded on the new core

  7. Thanks guys for your help!

I am from Greece and here is very difficult to find everything from skyline... so I cannot find rb25 gbox and sell rb26!

So I will try to do the conversation... uras I did small search and I don't find your thread tha you said me! I will try more.. but if you know the link tell me please!

But I don't understand something... I can run full power with 3rd gear?? So the problem isn't to the gears? It is to synchros?

With gearset osgiken or pfg you leave the stock synchros right? So why to put gearset?

I read that the big problem is that the 3rd gears tooths destroying with theese power level!

Ok I don't know yet what turbo I will choose...

I have from my friend brand new turbonetics but I think that it is bigger than what I want.... I think that it is for 800hp! And it is thross 360.. no ball bearing... so it will be very very slow spool right?

I don't understand how I will connect 2 external pumps and a surge tank... have anyone any scheme connection?

Your friend with 11.3 what mods has? But I must do 10.5.. no faster... this is the limit of my drag category!

Also I will stay to stock head and cams and cam gears because I don't have money :D Nevermind for some horses less :(

here u go mate here my link to a rb26dett in to a s13 silvia that ive done it doesnt tell u everything but its a start

    http://www.nissansilvia.com/forums/index.p...=159194&hl=

  8. in the v8's it was that the lines didn't line up properly with the rail or something like that.

and while holden has had quite a few nissan has had a few as well. do a search on silvia 200sx recalls. (not defending holden, just making a point to the green eyed import fan bois, LOL)

the aussie s15 has had zero recalls since landing in australia

from 1989 to present 45 nissan recall campains have been put out through all the nissan makes in au

    look here

    modelshttp://www.recalls.gov.au/search_recall_namesearch.php?product_name=nissan&Submit2=Submit

heres all the skyline recalls from japan from 1989 to 2004 woopie 9 recalls

    http://dogandlemon.com/site/japanese-vehic...p;model=SKYLINE

    stagea recalls

    http://dogandlemon.com/site/japanese-vehic...mp;model=STAGEA

and i cant find any recalls for any silvia (can any one else help)

  9. Hey guys, my cars sitting on about 99,600k's so the 100,000km service is goin to have to be done soon. Usually i service the car myself due to not trusting mechanics and not wantin to pay some-one to do soming i can do just fine (not take the car in for a service costing hundreds just for oil change, plugs and filters)

however the manual states that at the 100,000 mark things that need replaced are

    oil

    oil filter

    drive belts

    coolant

    air filter (pod)

    fuel filter

    timing belt

    break fluid

    pwr steering fluid

    diff gear oil

    break pads etc

    plugs

for me to do this would take quite some time and finding all those parts to suit the car might be trouble some i think, also some of those things id have no idea how to replace!

does neone know where i could get some-one to do all this? is it all covered by a mechanic if i ask for a major service? also if no mechanic would do all this where could i get all the parts that are direct replacements for the originals (dont want to go to supercheap and get cheap dud replacements)

i would prefer names of somewhere that would do all of these as works pretty busy atm.

any suggestions? where did YOU get your 100,000 service done????

    thanks for all ur help

    Irish

mate i can do all this stuff 4 u i can also machine your brake rotors as i have a brake lathe or u can just give me the rotors to machine up as i can do them on a weekend 4 u

  10. Just wondering if anyone has had the opportunity to compare the RB20DET motor mounts with the ones from the 25/26 motors. Not just the rubber mounts (which from GTS-T to RB25/26 conversions seems to work) but the actual aluminum mounts that bolt to the block. From what I have "heard" the answer is "no" and I would tend to expect that much, but ANY insight would be appreciated. I just don't have the resources to look at this myself.

they will all interchange with each other as they all have the same block bolt patten

  11. HI guys and girls i just thought i had better let you all know about the new law and legislation that was passed about defectable vehicle.

    Please dont take this lightly.

i had a fairly stock r32 skyline which some of you had seen before and i was driving along kingston road when i got pulled over by the police. they did a breath test and then asked me to show them my car.

    i was defected for

    EXHAUST

    BOV

    POD FILTER x2

    FRONT BAR

    STEERING WHEEL

and i though ok its my fault i new a few of those were not adr approved and was expecting to get a fine and be on my way...

and here is what all of you need to know

AS of the beginning of DECEMBER the police are no longer allowed to fine anyone for a defect on there vehicle, the new legislation is that any vehicle that is defectable will be issued a notice and given a set time before it is not to be driven again. But the worst part is that there is no fine but know all persons who get defected MUST FACE A COURT APPEARANCE. that is where you will get dealt your punishment.

you will be given 3 choices with you car.

    DEREGISTER

TAKE ENTIRE CAR BACK TO FACTORY SETTING

REPAIR ALL DEFECTED ITEM TO BE ADR APPROVED

but the worst part is before you can repair you vehicle you have to make an appoitment with the department of transport so that they will do a list of what is wrong wioth your car.

this is KINGY saying i got done and know i have to go to court i no longert have my car because of this new law.. so please everyone be very careful.

sorry mate i dont understand your last sentance

why do u not have your car anymore ?????

or is it u have your car but a list of shit wrong with it

  12. Hey guys.

Ive just finished doing a RB25det conversion on my R32 GTS4, and i have the old RB20det sitting in my shed. Now that my car is pretty much finished i plan on rebuilding the 20 myself as a side project and learning curve. Only thing is i dont want to run AWD on this engine (no torque + AWD sucks).

Now i know there is a thread around here somewhere concluding the difference between the AWD and 2WD sump differences as ive seen it before. but searched before and couldnt find it?

    So my questions are;

    - although im pretty sure the bolt patterns are different between the 2 sumps (AWD & 2WD) can someone confirm this?

    - Are the RB26dett sump bolt patterns the same as the 20 and 25 patterns? if so ill just locate an aftermarket TRUST RWD sump that alot of 26's are using these days

    Cheers

yes they are the same as ive put a rb20det sump on a rb26dett but u will need to mod the sump as the rb20/26 4wd blocks run the oil pick up in a different location to the rwd ones

so the side of the rwd rb20 sump will foul on the oil pick up and no u just cant tap the oil pick up over

the easyist way to do it is do remove the front diff and shafts out of the 4wd sump and get them welded up

  13. Hey Guys,

Sure someone will know here, it became apparent to me a while back that I have not ever seen (from memory) an RB20 make over 300rwkw?

If anyone has a link to vid of one making some good power let me know please.

Like a few months back, I went to a dyno day, a Silvia or some crap rolls on, pops hood, RB20 with a great big f**k off turbo, thought, ok here we go, this should have some balls, couldn't even crack 280rwkw, WTF?

Is it no one modifies these engines or can the head not flow enough air or something without big $?

What were the old red tops making back in the Group A days with the T4's and race fuel?

I know the practicality of modding to have power like i'm talking above is not very great, but how often are extreme car mods ever practical anyway. Have the Japs bolted a T88 to one or what?

    Cheers

i heard hardcore built a r32 rb20det making 440rwkw but i dont know how true it is can some 1 confirm this

  14. Anyone know where is a good place to get the safety certificate in Brisbane? Pardon my ignorance, its my first time getting a car in Aus. Its a 34 gtr. Thanks

i have a rwc licence if u want me to inspect your car at my work for a safety cert than swing us a pm and i can set up a time and date

  15. what size tubing and wall thickness as i have the law requirements(in the code of practice book)for roll cages for street approval

note it says nothing about welding in a cage

but u will need to pad the cage with high density foam at least 19mm thick

piping must be aussie standard 1554 or better

welds must be full peneration but welds

    steel min requirements

    hoops 45mm diameter

    2.5mm wall thickness

    rear braces straight 30mm

    1.5 mm wall thickness

    rear braces bent 45mm

    1.5mm wall thickness

  16. hi all, rb20 motor is looking a lil tired playing with the possibility of putting a rb25 in it,

    What's everyones thoughts ?

I know the 20's are lag monsters but when they hit boost theres just sumthing about them that makes you smile.

ANyways what i also wanted to know is how much it would cost to chuck an rb25 in my already rb20 powered s13.

I can get a motor with loom, ecu and all the shit minus box for 1500 or so,mechanic said he could strengthen the rb20 box for me for cheap.

So what i really want to know from people that know what they are talking about is how much it will cost to get the loom all working, with the rb25 put in. Is there anything else that will have to be changed excluding the loom, as there was already a rb20 in there?

If anyone could help us out with there experinces. Any useful info is appreciated

    Thanks boys

    Nathan

i would advise not to wire up a rb20 ecu to suit the rb25det as ppl forget that a rb25det has vct and the rb20 ecu doesnt support the vct and if u search around on this site there is a thread about vtc not being connected up and the car running like a pig

unless u use some external switch to switch the vct on

just get the rb25det loom wired up to suit your car and buy a pfc

  17. hey guys here are some pics of my first manifold which was the worst one will have to take some of the 6 boost one .

they look like cheap flynns mainifolds as it looks just like the one ive got here sittin on a rb25det and its got the same problem as yours

note i didnt buy this mainifold it was give to me buy the owner of the car and this was the person he bought it off

  18. I have upgraded my car from an Rb25'd R32 to a full on GTR. I have a Microtech running the RB25 and have no problems with wiring it up in the GTR. I contacted Microtech to ask about compatibility and the mentioned that it works for some and not for others. I am concerned with the AWD control and similar things that the stock ECU controls. If most of you have used a tuner to get it installed, could you please provide some contact info and I will see if they can help out

By the way, this site is the English life line for us skyline owners in Japan. So thanks for any advice. .

dont go backwards by installing a mircotech on a gtr if u do that u may aswell ditch the efi set up a stick a carbie in it

  19. im using ICE thermos hehe... works well and use std R32 sensor/switch on rad

u guys do it all the hard way..

    K.I.S.S

the over temp switch in the r32 rad come on tooo late (90.c) but if u buy a temp switch of a mitubishi lancer/marage /magna (tridon part no TFS141 for around $30 which is a bolt in replacement and it comes on around 83.c

i use these all the time when i do rb conversions into silvias with 1x14in and 1x12in thermo fans on a r32 rad and never had any over heatin issues

  20. Yeah, I was hoping someone did RWC at a cheap price for SAU members.

sorry bud theres no such thing queensland transport set the minium pricing of around $58.60 so it wont go any cheaper than that

id issue u with a rwc (if it passed of course) but queensland transport r slack pricks and are a bit slow in sending me out my rwc licence (as its been 1 mth and im still waiting for it to turn up at my work )

  21. Hi Boot it,

Yep we changed the ecu to another one out of a working r32 and still the same problem.

Not sure about pin 43 but will check it out.

The cas, maf and coilpacks are all getting 12v while cranking and with ignition on

We have tried alot of things over the last month and its still not firing

pinout 43 is the start signal to the ecu if it doesnt get that signal the car wont start (as u might have a break in the wire some where

have u made sure pinouts 41 and 42 r getting the 1 degree and 120 degree signals from the cas sensor
