I've been playing quite a bit on the NA server at 270 ping and its not too bad, whats the playerbase like on the SEA server? or should I stick with NA.
-
I've used nengun, perfect run and green line in the past all have been great but be prepared for a wait

I'd get one of these guys to do a compression test, check AYC/ACD system, gearbox, transfer, etc the $200-300 for a pre-purchase inspection is the way, go halves with the guy its useful information for both of you.
Was it freshened up to factory spec? what kind of power is it at?

I was in a simliar position about a year ago searching for a 7-8 had a import broker sending me auction sheets of sub 80k evos, turned out to be substantially cheaper to buy local, the quality evos in japan seem to fetch a premium so if you see a low km evo at a dealer going at a reasonable price you can assume its had a hair cut. In fact I'd avoid dealers like the plague and use chef or go with a private sale.
I ended up waiting for a local one that I liked, be patient and get it inspected by an evo specialist, you will find a nice 7 at 20k.
Also join up on EvolutionOz.net if you haven't already, there are some great examples for sale and great information.
-
Have you considered an evo?, I'd suggest taking 7-9 for a test drive it might change your mind but if you love the look of an STI then go for it

My mate just bought a evo6 with only an exhaust and fuel pump, got steve knight to play around with it and made 250awkw on pulp. Steve did tune it on 30psi though haha, seems pretty high to me but i know nothing about evos.
Took my car to Steves just after I got it, asked him to check it out on the dyno and make sure its running ok
next day its running 25psi gone from 170kw to 220kw with just a cat back.. although it wasn't the safest tune around, 30psi on 98 stock turbo is huge
-
Shall be tuning the new found love of the 3 diamond variety on e85 in the next week or so.
Atm it stands at: Standard evo 7, hks dump + apexi exhaust with high flow cat, running very lean and kicking back to safety map 18psi produced 184kw at all 4 up to 5,800rpm limit (didnt want to go higher due to leaning out but it would have been around 200-210 on usual 22psi by the looks of things)
Bought: 1050cc injectors, aeromotive 340lph pump
e85 Results: in a weeks time prediction 240 - 250 at all 4, not bad for a standard car eh
Thats the great thing about evos, running dual maps on the standard ecu

+1 for Silvers they did an excellent job on my rear bar, the only crash repairer I have been happy with

Awesome service and about 1/2 the price of most tires here. But they can't ship Yokohama to Australia anymore. Looks like the local Yoko guys kicked up a stink but there are freight forwarding companies in the US that will receive them then post them on to you here Got to love free markets
http://www.shipito.com/ do exactly this

My fav so far

Nismoid was probably mistaken. So you said total cost is $1050 consisting of 662 for goods and 388 for shipping right?
In which case you'll be fine.
If you meant 1050 was for the tyres, and + 388 shipping on top - expect duty + aqis charges.
Exactly, $662 tyres and $388 shipping, I wasn't very clear in my original post sorry.
Sweet so no duty + aqis charges, thanks fellas
-
Hey guys I'm about to transfer cash for a set of dunlop star specs I assume they don't include the cost of freight in keeping it under 1k?
All up its costing $1050USD, $388 for shipping. I should be allright in avoiding the GST, etc, right?
