  1. wow it sure has become more popular this last couple of years. back when I first started going there would be dozens of people saying "yeah I'm going this year" but it usually ended up being just nick and I. and then one year no one I knew from SAU was going, but since I already had lots of friends in japan I went by myself. but to be honest after 4 TAS visits I've seen it just get less and less impressive each time and I think I may now have finally given up :P It would be nice to see all you guys over there though, but I think I will stick to doing nismo festival and hyper rev time attack type stuff for the next few years. :D

I will say this, the first time you go to TAS it will blow you away, no matter what jaded folk like me think. to you it will be the most awesome car show you have seen. :)

Your right, when I went this year, it was out of this world. IT WAS HUGE, 3 halls of ball busting cars LOL. Going again and this time seeing the show over 2 dyaz to make sure I get a look at all the show stands as well as they had some great stuff to buy and think about bring but to OZ. Shame I didnt get to meet up with you guys, but the meeting place was hard to find and I think I was there at the wrong.

I should have fun and the G/F loved it this year, so I think might take her again, lol

Guys if you havent done this at once in your life, then you really are missing something, not only the fact that Toyko ROCKS.

    See ya there in 2009

  2. Any chance of us going down to daikoku futo?

I know its hard to get to without a car but im sure if we all share a taxi it would be ok.

I would love to go if i could.

    Hi NYTSKY,

The GF and I are going to TAS on the Saturday, but Friday might be a good time to go and happy to grab a TAXI and head down to Futo. It is just one of those other amazing places we would love to go, so if this is in your plans PM me and we can get some contact details worked out.

  3. We are all ago, have tickets for flight, hotel and JR. I am thinking of going to Osaka via JR when we go down there, is this the best way to go???

I have transfers from the airport to Toyko and from hotel in Osaka to airport, but wondering if carrying large bags on the train down to Osaka is the best thing to do or to just find some other way. Any help from someone who lives there or been there would be great.

Not long to go now :P

  4. Hi all,

Would like to know who is traveling with who:

    By yourself

    With a friend

    girlfriend or wife

Are people doing there own thing or can we organize some group trips?

Im sure alot of people would be seeing some of the same attractions.

(Apart from Nick and Richard going to Disneyland) lol

Im going with Girlfriend (r32gtrchick) we get there a couple of days earlier to do a bit of the tour

thing, going on Saturday to TAS and Sunday going to Disneyland :P too........lol. Heading to Osaka for 3 days after that to play tourist and maybe visit a couple of tuning houses. Happy to meet up for some night time drinks or dinner?? ;)

  5. Where is everyone staying? I would suggest staying near Tokyo and not near the TAS venue as there isnt anything there after dark.

Anyone with Press Pass Day tickets?

WE are staying in the Ginza area as the hotel we were staying in a Shinjuku is closing for work. So Im hoping that area well be have lots to do and see.

Anybody give any good locations in Ginza???

Brought tickets online and printed them out, so already to go now, hopefully the new GTR might be there, fingers crossed to get at look at that baby, OH YEAH

  6. il be there too, probably just fly up to haneda from here, instead of shinkansen! If anyone needs any help with all things 'japan related' dont hesitate to shout! Always a great show, but as said above, there so much more to Japan too :P

    Hey,

Did I need to buy the TAS tickets now ( and if so how?) or is it easier to just get them there on the Day.

Second of all, heading down to Osaka for a couple of day after TAS and was wondering if there are any workshops down that way to visit or see?? I would love to found a Autobaus down there is possible?? Can you help??

  7. Hey guys, thanks for putting up the posts about Disneyland in Japan. JUDGED was not the one who wanted to go, someone else was... But have been looking into other stuff to see when the TAS isn't on so plenty more cultural stuff :)

I think we will still go to disneyland as it is just something to say that we have 'been there done that'. At the moment we are booked into the Shinjuku New City Hotel, it looks pretty central to everything and close to the train station to get to TAS. I have been reading the post and it looks like a good area, is this right??

What other areas would be good to look at. Going down to Osaka as well and would like to know of any workshops or sites to see there??

    Cheers

  8. Damn, great to see so many going, wish i know this in the first place. Im booked in as well, for 4 days in Toyko, flyin gin on the 10th, catch the TAS on the 12 and 13 and and bit of sight seeing then down to Osaka for 3 days to check out the car (VIPSTYLE) and I think Autobras is there ( help me if this is correct) and movie world, then Hong Kong for 2 days disneyland AGAIN ( that 2 in one week) and then fly back home.

I hope to see all that are going to TAS08 there, make a statement and I will be sure to spot you. See ya's there.

  9. 10. Bok Bok, dude you own a R34 GTR, we are all happy to see such a great peice of motoring goddness willing to be seen next to our cars. It is a great car and dont go changing it to much it is great just the way it is. It was also great to see lots of SAUWA members at the show and hope to see you all out and about at the next cruise. Thanks to Dan the Man, micheal and paully for the effort to get things going.

By the way Mr Plod was out and about after the show and I did see him pull a couple of cars that had just come out of the show over to the side of the road. Of course didnt hang around as I had to sneek passed to get home myself. Such a big downer on what I would call a good weekend and show. Oh well, what can you do?

  11. Sorry to that you had such a good day ruin by Kockheads. I have noticed over the years that people that do things like this to cars are either kids ( uncontrolled by parents) or losers driving $500 pieces of crap. They were obviously jealous of your car, so some sort of personal satisfaction can be gained from this, but I hope you get it repaired and remember karma comes to everyone someday.

  12. Couldnt figure out way my times were getting worse on street tyres, when I went to have a look at the tread they were bald .....lol , thanks paully for the use of your tyres, they hooked up well, but in the run I couldnt grab 3rd gear and that was that, had a great day. $40 - entry, power steering belt, missed 3rd gear priceless........hehehe.

Nice to see some of the SAUWA guys out today.

    Cheers

  14. I have brought some 32gtr wheels with MT Superstreet Drag radials and now already ready to go to drag warz. Looking forwarded to pulling some good numbers. The Whoop ass Wednesday before drag warz is going to be huge, hope to get a round-about time then so I can DUO time in. See ya there.

  15. Yes, after the first pass on slicks and a close call with the wall I was relagated to using street tyres, which didn't make for any fast times, but still a great night.

If someone has footage of the spin then please post it up :(

In a total of 4 passes I spun, shredded my wheel nuts, and blew off my intercooler hose. But it could have been much worse. At least I gave the commentators something to chat about

Where's my money biatch, you were owned by me all night hehehehe, but congrats when you finally got down the track with a great terminal.

I was Very happy that even on street tyres I ran a very low 12 @ 119mph so I know that 11's are on the cards, maybe hig 10's. We will have to that again paully when you get back. Score 4 - Nil to me (smack that ass)

    Everyone,

Thanks for coming down, it was great to see so many liners and we put the trevs to shame with they hard fought 14's lol. It was great to catch up with everyone in a speed format. See everyone there again sometime.

  16. Thanks Dan again for the great effort!!!!
