  1. Race brakes RB74. Very good crossover pad. On a car with good power and undersize brakes they performed as well as could be expected.

Hawks as above. Very good again. No fade at all. Over an hour on the track non stop. Ended up cracking the disks before the pads gave up.

QFM Comp 9. Worked extremely well on the track. Continuously stopped. Couldn't lock up with full slicks but they never faded. Seem pretty hard on discs. Not the best pad without heat as I found at deca.

  2. You weren't the only one! There was a table full of SAU members and then right beside it there was another table with you sitting alone, holding a beer and staring into nothing. We had some good talks, those that I can remember anyway.

Hahahaha! Yep when I get to that state I'm ready for bed!!! I am really struggling to remember the details of the night!!! Like I said, good times!

  3. Hey all! Another awesome event!

Well done to the organisers and officials once again. Top stuff!

I didn't have the best day in the Rx7. Had the cooler pipe come off twice in the morning (never happened before in the two years I've been running the car) not that it would've mattered much on the skidpan courses! And later in the day the oil drain off the turbo began to weep oil onto the manifold causing smoke where its not meant to be haha! Had a few drips on the trailer when I unloaded this morning so nothing to bad but a nuiscance nontheless! To those saying I need an lsd...I've got one, it's just worn out haha! Rebuild time for the diff...one day!

Even with my setbacks it was still a blast! And I still managed to get spastic drunk! Good times indeed!

  4. Ouch...did he say if it was a 4WD? You can roll a car almost anywhere as long as you have something to tip the centre of gravity :)

That's it. I know a number of cars have had big accidents out on the back track. Years ago (prob '99ish) I saw a very high powered Datto 120y hit the tree, going clockwise towards the 2nd hill, coming out of the lh sweeper. Destroyed it. Earlier that day his daughter lost it into the first turn, went through the fence into the paddock where the houses are now. That was a sprintrun by the Shep car club. I was running in my red mazda (in my avatar)

Thanks to everyone pointing me in the direction of tyres. Kumho has no 225-45-17s in stock in nsw or vic. Luckily Essendon tyre power had a very good set of second hand 225s which suit me perfect! 225s front, 255s rear. Thanks again guys! Can't wait for Saturday!

  5. Good to see the results. Congrats to the winners!

Have to say I'm pretty impressed with the old VL turbo. Once I got Ryan to actually try and drive quick (instead of rip[ping skids and drifting!) he didn't do to bad. Now he's got to fix the rooted lsd, and rear suspension bushes. The clunk in the rear was pretty rough haha! I reckon there's a lot in it yet!

  6. That vid was just a lunch time free run- no course layout- not timed. When we actually did the motorkhanas it made it interesting. The courses were quite a bit tighter than the average one on the weekend. I found a lot more finesse was needed to do well with a mixture of water and dry and I easily enjoyed it just as much as the full dry courses. Admitted alot of others struggled. I come form a dirt-rally club background (North Eastern Car club) so the variance in grip didn't phase me much. Can understand the cones- time wasting. We didn't have big numbers and most people were pretty good at fixing things up as quick as possible.

I'm not sure about the Ozmazda days. Whether or not they are combined with the MCCA or not I wouldn't know. That was the first MCCA day at Deca as far as I'm aware. They had a new club president and secretary and a number of new members trying to get the MCCA back up to the numbers and events it once was. The wet ring of death isn't a term I have heard before so maybe different groups entirely???

Thanks for the info regarding the times and results. Really loooking forward to seeing them!

  7. Nup. It sucks balls... :)

Weak as!!!! The wet is just as much fun! When I went a number of years ago with the Mazda car club of Aus, they wet parts of the skidpan. Loved it! Made it pretty inconsistent!

This is a vid of mine from that day. Dry to wet to dry etc!

Still wondering about the results and times?

  8. Hey all! A big thumbs up to the organisers and officials. I was super impressed with how well the day flowed. Brilliant!

I unfortunately wasn't driving, but ended up "navigating" in Ryans VL turbo. We had an absolute blast and I will definatly try and get to the next one.

As for the aftermath.... Lots to drink, a disagreement with a local, and we scored a free ride back to the hotel in a divvy van! Good times!

    Cheers and thanks

    Glen.

EDIT: Are there any results/times posted anywhere or going to be?

  9. Hey all.

A mate mentioned this was on and we're hoping to have a run. Him in a GTiR and me in my s4 RX7. My entry will be absolute last minute due to waiting for a master cylinder. Hoping it turns up in time! Otherwise we'll come for a look at the very least!

    Cheers, Glen.

  10. Ok guys I've got a little project on the go and want to know if there are any difference between R31 Skyline and Pintara struts and brakes. The spring rate doesn't bother me (I'd assume they are different).

    Are the brakes the same?

Is the strut tube diameter the same?

Is the strut length the same?

Can you get aftermarket shocks to fit, ie. Konis? (Konis are really all I'm worried about)

Are there any easy brake upgrades (ie bolt on) for these struts?

    Rotor diameter and thickness?

For my project I've heard that the Skyline struts are pretty much what I need. The thing is I've been offered a Pintara for nothing from a mate so I'm trying to figure out if it's worth getting.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Thank guys.
