  1. 15 grand total.. so $7k for the car and $8k to have it get it shipped and complied? Seems a bit steeper than figures I've heard previously.

    Thanks for that link chunkylover,

    Pay the $990 broker’s fee

    Buy the car

    Pay for it in Japan

    Car gets shipped to Australia

    Pay the customs broker

    Car goes to compliance workshop

    Car is complied

Car is delivered to your door

How much more of a pain in the ass would it be to do all of these things yourself and cut out the $990 broker fee?

  2. This must be a stupid question, but I just spent 30 minutes scouring government info pages regarding importing a car and all I can see is information about importing vehicles made manufactured before 1989 or as a migrant or returning Australian expatriate...

I've been browsing through stock R32 GTRs on a Japanese website and I'm seeing some acceptable ones between 600,000 and 800,000 yen, (manufactured after 1989) and I'm just wondering about the added costs of importing and complying would be, so I can get an idea of the total price of the car. Also, a basic idea of the process of getting the car here and getting it complied. Do I just contact a RAWS service and have them contact the seller in Japan? Any info would be much appreciated.

  3. What's triple threat?

    Speaking of SAU's role in hunting down forum scammers, I read this somewhere;

"Skylines Australia takes no responsibility for transactions that occur as a result of this forum. CAVEAT EMPTOR - BUYER BEWARE!!!"

Anyways, I had a feeling I'd end up getting into a cockfight by posting feedback in the feedback section. Jokes aside though, I just wanted to put it out there as a matter of principle, not because it's a big issue for me. Thank you for your explanations.

  4. People need to be able to edit their original posts in the for sale section.

I know it sounds a bit crazy, but I think it'd be easier if prospective buyers only had to read the seller's original post. Rather than having to read the original post then scour the rest of the thread to see which items have been sold or had their prices changed.

Thank you for considering this wacky and unconventional suggestion.

    Sincerely,

    Common sense

  5. RB25 engine and gearbox, new front and rear main seals, timing belt and water pump $3000

3" stainless split dump (turbo to cat) never used, $400

Intercooler and piping kit from R31, comes with hoses and extra stainless polished piping $350

    Apexi cannon new $300

    R33 brakes $300

Also getting rid of the 31 itself so will sell as a rolling shell or as individual parts depending on offers, it's a white S3 TI straight body with projector headlights and Passage grille. Hasn't been driven in a couple years so suspension and brakes probably need love, but there are no signs of underbody rust.

My number is 0402 402 710 (Please sms)

  6. I'm no pro but I would wait until the engine needs a rebuild. No point rebuilding it with all factory components if you're going to do some serious mods to the engine. If you have those mechanics at your disposal, I'd just mod it and drive it until something breaks, then rebuild it with stronger internals and all the things you'll need for it to cope with the power you want to put through it.

  7. Hey all,

I just pulled the engine out of my R33 half cut last night, and I'm wondering what maintenance work I should be doing to the engine while everything is accessable. I plan on replacing the timing belt, rear main seal and some radiator hoses but I know there's probably other stuff that's worth doing so I was wondering if the technical guys could give me some advice about this. Thanks in advance for any input.

    Cheers,

    Jono

  8. I'm guessing you're Jeff and Bayley's dad :(, unless there is another Passage/GTS-R brother and sister in WA =P

I know Bay v. well as I'm very active in the R31 club, only met Jeff a few times including tonight at the nav run, I wish he'd bring his GTS-R on a cruise some time, I'd love to see it.

  9. I agree whole-heartedly ossie, and you wont have any problems in that respect from us. People that drive dangerously on cruises really shit me. You can have fun without risking lives and property.

When I said 'interesting' it was because I often wonder what 'real skyline' drivers think of R31s and R31 drivers, and I got the feeling she might've said that because I'm bringing an R31. No implications meant though, I meant only what I said =)

  10. I drive an R32 and I have a few sets of twin scratches on the outsides of my windows. This thread inspired me to go out and rip my door trims off =P and I saw what was causing the scratches... there are pairs of little white clips along the door seal, and the window was being pushed against them. They were dirty as hell which what must have caused the scratching.

When you wind your window down and look down into the door you can see 2 screws that go from the door metal to the power window thingy, and there is a certain amount of thread exposed between the two. I tightened both screws to bring the window further in towards the car, and now I'm pretty sure they don't scrape.

When I take the dor cards off again in a few days to put new speakers in I'll take some photos. Hope that helped =P

  11. I have pretty bad window scratches on my 32 aswell, but it seems to be a very common problem, even with 4 doors and GTRs. My door seals have curled up from being left out in 40degree heat with the windows show (it's black :D) by the previous owner, so I think my window is getting pushed against whatever is causing this scratching even more than most. I'm getting the seals replaced and will see what is causing the scratches and how to fix them so I can get the windows buffed. I've seen so many skylines with this problem, I can't believe no one has come up with a solution yet :D
