Fair enough, what if the gtr rotors are down to 31mm(these are 2nd hand obviously), Still have problems or useable?
Thanks.
Thinner disc ?what about when you need new rotors?

Hey guys,
AS the topic says, Just asking a question for a mate who has a R31 with HR31 struts. He got R33 gts-t calipers and he can get some R32 gtr rotors. Just wondering if they will fit and will there be any trouble with fiting the gtr rotors with r33 calipers? Searched the forums but just need some definate answers.
THanks
From my understanding these are the dimensions of the two items you have and there may be a problem with the width.
R33 GTS-T calipers are to suit a disc 296mm x 30mm
R32 GTR rotors (no V-spec) are 296mm x 32mm

it was done by a very reputable brake buisness and they wouldn't have done it if they thought it was in any way dangerous. They did it so they carry any warranty issues, and it wasn't to save a couple of dollars it was to save a lot of money.
Each to there own but 6mm is alot to machine a rotor down by and yes i am in the industry.
If anyone wants the correct rotor DBA do the 310mm rotor in the DBA 4000 series.
-
Yes to back up what Beer Baron said you can get custom braided lines made if needed from places like Race Brakes Sydney
-
For starters it is risky and dangerous to machine the diameter of a disc down just to save a couple of dollars not to mention no warranty if they explode which i have seen happen.Has the rotor been cast for this to happen and to take the risk.
R34 GT rotors are 296mm front
R34GTT rotors are 310mm front
R34 GT-R rotors are 324mm front
DBA rotors are available for the Skyline range including the R34 GTT 310mm where as RDA do not do this particular disc. You can buy std 4000's rotors instead of there slotted if you want.

Just some info that we will be suppliers of the new Bendix SRT pads.
Street Road Track is what they are and will sell for around $250 a set.
-
Summary: Rang an EBC stockist for a quote on pads and after some back and forth he suggested that DS2500s would be a better package for me, in particular mentioning wear. He doesnt sell Ferodo, so his honesty did him out of a potential sale.
FWIW Prices for R32 GTR are:
Street/Track;
DS2500 front: $295 (UAS)
EBC Reds front: $250
DS2500 rear: $260 (UAS)
EBC Red rear: $250
Track only (street temps will cause poor initial bite and accelerated wear, but 20% higher friction)
DS3000 front: $380 (UAS)
EBC Yellow front: $363
DS3000 rear: $380 (UAS)
EBC Yellow rear: $300
Rgs,
Kot
If your talking R32 GTR with brembo's then those Ferodo prices you got quoted are to dear.Try Race Brakes Sydney next time .
GTR Brembo DS2500 front $197.00 FCP1561H
GTR Brembo DS2500 rear $161.00 FCP1562H
GTR Brembo DS3000 front $290.00 FCP1561R
GTR Brembo DS3000 rear $244.00 FCP1562R

Many pads these days squeal especially performance pads under light braking.Generally if the rotors are machined and the pads bedded in properly it will lower the chances of squealing. If you have the metal shims still on the pads take them off and try the stick on anti-squeal which goes on the back of the pad. These are available from Race Brakes Sydney for about $10.
If you have performance pads or the brakes were not bedded in properly it may be to late though.
-
I take this comment back. Pulled off the pads today and it was the wear indicators. They start touching when there is still maybe 2.5mm of pad material left, i cant believe the pads ran out so quickly in any case, the drivers side has been touching for a while and the passenger side is starting to touch.
Sometimes it can be the simple things that are the problems. What brand of pads are in there ?
-
is that for rotor and alloy hat? The DBA price was rotor and alloy hat.
Yes that is correct
-
Wurth also do a spray which you put on your rotors and this can be quiet effective in some cases
-
If the pads are worn down then it could be the wear indicators but if they aren't try some pbr anti squeal it may help. You didn't mention brand as many performance pads will make this noise and has a lot to do with how they have been bedded in etc
-
The noise may not disappear you may just not hear it if the noise from the car is drowning it out. When you hear the noise rest your foot on the brake pedal to see if it goes away and this will tell you if it is a problem in that area of pad and rotor making contact.

""""I got DBA 5000 series for a FPV GT (355x32, $650 each) for my GTR, and i got spacers made for the center bores. That was to go with the Porsche GT3 6Pots.""""
""""So you need hats and rotors? The Brembo 355mm are pricey, for the rotor alone they are $620 each last time i checked for a friend.""""
355MM X 32MM rotors can get and are about $595 each for skylines

The nissan 4 pot calipers can be split and there is a channel seal there which stops the fluid leaking when the fluid is travelling from one caliper half to the other .Some 4 pot calipers are monoblock which means 1 piece but these have a external "bridge pipe" which is at the end of the caliper and transfers the fluid from 1 half of the body to the other..The Nissan 4 pot calipers have 4 x 40mm pistons and should be cleaned in metho or water not fuel or thinners which will cause the rubbers to swell. The caliper kits come with the channel seals ,piston seals, and boots.Give Race Brakes Sydney a ring he has them in stock 02 9609 1101.

For anyone who is interested about rotors why don't you come down to DBA this saturday the 4th of November between 12.30 and 4.00pm Race Brakes Sydney have organised some tours during the afternoon of the DBA factory so you can see and ask questions about your problems.NO kids under 16 sorry and covered toe footwear has to be worn. You do not have to book just turn up and wait for the next tour to start also RBS will have some specials for the day(just a plug).

I may have skipped some pages with this issue but what is needed to know about the skyline and patrol clutch is the actual clutch plate hub in the skyline is heavier .If you put the two side by side you will see the difference in spring size.I sell these clutches and am aware of the difference and yes you can fit the patrol clutch but the actual clutch plate hub (where the springs are) will be weaker and this is why they are cheaper. The R31 skyline is a similar set up as well with the same lighter sprung clutch plate as the patrol.Race Brakes Sydney
The h/d patrol clutch is $265.00
The h/d skyline clutch is $420.00
The R31 h/d skyline clutch is $320.00
This may put some light on the situation.

Don't use greenstuff try the ferodo pads T2000 better for performance driving plus you can get the pads and discs macnined at Race Brakes Sydney.
The disc rotors may also need machining because often the rotor will wear on uneven or on a taper so machining will fix that and make the surface flat for the pads to bed in properly.
-
I spoke to Race Brakes Sydney and they will do the 5000series 2piece for $450ea or 4000series 1 piece for $245 ea better for a group buy. They told me to have a look at the db1170 and db1199 bendix pad and you will see the pad material sits lower on one pad than the other this may or may not be the secret of pad overhang. They are also happy to organise group buys if we can get anything together let them know. They do AP kits and also have the caliper kits for the nissan 4pot calipers and 1 /16 brake master cyl kits as well.

Yeah $182 a pair for that number at Race Brakes Sydney 02 9609 1101

As my brake pads have worn out, it's now time to get a new set. I've done a search on the forum and could not exactly find what I am looking for. I don't need those that will stick your nose to the windscreen once you slam the brake as I am quite happy with the stock Nissan ones. However, if I can get a better ones would be great, as long as the price is OK... prefer not to spend over $130 a pair.
I heard that Bendix Ultimate are pretty decent and would probably meet my criteria, but I heard that they are very dusty. How much better is the Ultimate compared to the Advance (basic ones)? I also heard Hawk and RB (Racing Brake) are pretty decent brands, but don't know where I can get them from.
Your recommendations are much appreciated! Would be good if you could include the price and place where I can get them from in Sydney
Cheers,
DD
Race Brakes Sydney at Wetherill Park can supply all the brands you mentioned 02 9609 1101.

Hey guys, need some info on the best pads for good price to go onto brembo equipped GTR, hopefully not too dusty coz i got white rims, only ask coz my old ones scream like mad and i am going insane driving it
Not to many pads don't leave dust and with the GTR brembos road pads are limited.I would recommend if you are a fast driver use some EBC redstuff or DS2500 Ferodo also HAWK are good.

Most calipers can be mounted to any vehicle with the right radius rotor and brackets ,we do this alot .The other thing to remember is alot of porsche calipers for sale are off race cars and if they need to be reconditioned and have pads they become very expensive this is why these guys just buy new ones. Some 6pot calipers the pads are over $600 dollars to replace and the repair kits are the same especially if you need new pistons.

Yes you can but length depends on which way you would rerun the hose.
