  1. Hey guys, I've got a 96' s2 R33 which i've owned for about 3-4 months now. I took it to get a wheel alignment and balance yesterday and the blokes there informed me that my springs are too short for my shockies so virtually every larger than average bump in the road i go over my shockies are bottoming out! Which I have noticed as my car is fairly rough on bumpy roads. Now i'll be the first to admit I have limited suspension knowledge, but the guys suggested coil overs are the way to go but my mates have coil overs in their cars and they bounce around like crazy, i think they should be left for track cars.. What would be the best/cost effective way for me to fix this? I'm after a little comfort, but mainly performance - i also need a set up that will allow a bit more traction..
  2. The Pioneer Revs are AWESOME! You won't get a better speaker at that price, I had them in my mr2 on their own and they were insane, now iv'e got them again in the skyline in the front and their just as good in the bigger cabin...top sound amazing bass from a 6.5 probably due to the kevlar build and super clear trebble, the tweeters are perfect too
  3. My R33 gts-t s2 is my daily driver, I get between 250-350km per tank depending on how im driving. On that note 350kms out of a tank is the most i've ever gotten and that was on the highway so obviously I have a problem lol, Last fill up cost me like $82 in newcastle BP ultimate. Mods are: 3.5" inch cat back exhaust, hi flow panel filter, FMIC, stock boost.
  4. hahahaha, love that ethiopian joke. alright you might have found yourself a buyer. Do you have the receipts for the build? and why are you selling the turbo?
  5. will it be a direct fit to a 96' s2 r33? The only mods i currently have are front mount intercooler, 3.5" cat back exhaust (getting dump and cat done this week) would i need any other mods to support the turbo? or could i just get a mechanic to whack it on with low boost? Also when does the turbo come on boost? do you have any dyno graphs?
  6. Mine also has no hole.. I removed this boost controller yesterday because it was spiking like crap, not holding boost in anyone spot or anything. I had it installed by a mechanic and then checked by a mechanic, everything was in order.. I suppose u get what you pay for. EBC on the way
  7. Hey lads, Just wondering how to use this stuff as it doesn't specify wether you apply it in a ciruclar motion or an up and down straight line motion, if you dont know what the product is its basically a cut/polish. From past experiences products differ in the way you apply so before i go to work i want to know which way is right. cheers, Luke
  8. So there is a restrictor in the stock hoses? I'll do what you said though tomorrow maybe thats why my car wasn't pulling anything on the dyno...lets just hope the mechanics are hopeless in all respects and that thats the problem i'll have to get a fresh dyno from elsewhere after i fix the boost cut problem, is there anything else that could cause a boost cut?
  9. the mechanic hooked mine up, whats the stock solenoid, and how do i check if its there and if so remove it?
  10. the turbotech mechanical boost controller...the one thats had like 36 pages written on it here..I'm pretty sure thats what it's called.
  11. Yo! I took my car for a run tonight with a mate who's practically a mechanic to see if he could figure out why my cars running so slow. Anyways the turbotech is set at 10-11psi but was spiking from 12 to even close to 15psi at times partiuclarly in 2nd gear, whenever it spiked to that amount my car would make this rapid muffled sort of backfiring noise and lose a huge amount of power.. My mate told me it's the boost cut... From what i know theres a restrictor in one of the hoses that connects to the turbotech, if the mechanics left that hose there and didnt take the restrictor out and just connected it to the turbotech would that be whats causing the problem? and is my mate right about that noise and power loss? Cheers Luke
  12. ah thanks for the advice boys, i'm going to go to RX Engineering here in Newcastle, they have a pretty big rep so hopefully they can sort it out, hopefully my wallet can too lol. Cheers.. Luke
  13. yeah thats it, the air to fuel ratio, im not sure what it is off boost but on boost its 11.4...I've only owned it for a month and from the moment i started driving it i've always thought it felt way too slow for what it is. So i asked a few mechanics, they drove it and said it was fine..Finally one knew what he was talking about! It doesnt feel OVERLY slow though, but not quick by any means. I won't be able to get a copy of the dyno sheet until next week unfortunately, today was just a quick freeby 20min dyno run to fit the turbo tech. I'm hoping theres nothing too wrong with it! what else could be causing a big loss in power, theres no wierd noises, its making proper boost, no leaks or anything..And no the timing hasnt been checked, i'll make a note for him to check that though. cheers
  14. I fitted mine today, its set at 10psi, but a wierd thing happens say im boosting hard in 2nd change in to 3rd and quickly jump off the throttle my guage for some reasons jump VERY quickly to 15-20psi and then straight to 0psi...Is that normal?
  15. Hey guys! Just got off the dyno with the R33, and guess how much power it's making with front mount, 3.5" cat back exhuast, turbotech boost controller running 10psi and a high flow panel filter! A quality 104rwkw!! WOO haha. Not really, actually quite frustrated Luckily we know the cause of the problem, it's running WAY too rich 11.4% or something if that makes sense to anyone, apparently it's meant to be at 14% (though i could be wrong with the % i think its actually a ratio of something) Whats funny is that i've told 2 mechanics already that it's running too rich and they've said it fine, I told this one and he decided he'd put my theory to the test and i was right, for once haha. Hopefully it's going to only be the O2 sensor, i've just hit 40,000kms now and apparently they go every 40,000km. so right now it's making about 80kw less than what it should be! I just cant wait to get it running properly On another note, after installing the turbotech ive noticed that when im on full boost and back the throttle off suddenly the needle hits like 15-20psi very very quickly and drops straight back, is that spiking, or just normal?
