Hey guys,
Sorry to revive an old thread, but i am currently going down this path as well as im converting a 180sx rolling shell that i purchased to run the RB26 engine out of my GTR (its getting an upgrade) and converting the GTR 5 speed gearbox to use also. Im all good with the transfer case modifications and have the shafts apart etc, my question is around the speed sensor.
Does anyone know what speed sensor to use in the transfer case? The standard GTR one is obviously a cable driven sensor that connects to the speedo, but the 180sx dash uses the electrical type sensor. I have heard that the Z32 sensor is compatible but havent been able to track one down as yet to test it out. Im also going to be running an R32 GTS4 4.3 ratio diff so would be trying to find one with that calibration if possible. The gearbox im converting is actually from a GTS4 as well, so the speed gear should be 4.3 already if they are different.
Cheers!

Sorry to bump an old thread, but do you still have the Power FC D-Jetro kit mate?
-
Have got an FC datalogit, am still after the Nismo AFM's tho.

Hi guys,
Im chasing both an FC Datalogit and a pair of Nismo AFM's for a GTR.
If anyone has either of the items and want to sell them, let me know in this thread or via pm
Thanks.

Is it really worth going the ext resovoir BC's or is that just overkill for a daily/occasioanl track use?
If its mainly a streeter, just go the BR series mate. The ER's are great, but are more track oriented (harder). If i was choosing some for a daily, i would be going possibly the BR's with 6kg front, 4kg rear as a max spring rate combo
-
Cool looks like they hold up really well. I've been doing some research on them and there is a lot of good reviews through the other forums. Did it cost more to change the spring rates? If you don't mind how much did it all cost with swaybars as well? I am looking at doing the same thing if I go ahead and buy the BC's. PM me if you like. Cheers
The custom spring rates and setup were the same price which I thought was pretty amazing. There was a lot of extra effort put in to get them made up and at no extra charge to me! I got the swaybars through a seller on here or nissansilvia i think, they are Whiteline adjustable products and were around 210 each from memory.

Has anyone used these coilovers on the track? I am thinking of getting these for track days so I am interested to see what peoples thoughts are for these proposes.
I got a set of the BC ER's (external reservoir) made up for my R32 GTR that see's the track regularly. The standard rates they come with are 12kg front and 10kg rear which I think is way too hard. After liaising with Just Jap, i got the factory to produce a set with 8kg front and 6kg rear. They also revalved them for these spring rates and extended the lengths to ensure they would run at the heights i wanted.
I couldnt be happier with them. On the road i have compression and rebound set to full soft and on the track i have found that about the midpoint on both compression and rebound gives me the best feel. Coupled with the whiteline swaybars front and rear, the car is very neutral now whereas it used to be very understeer dominant. Ive cut my times down at lakeside substantially with these coilovers (and with the swaybars).
I couldnt be more happy with the service from Darron at Just Jap either. I was really impressed with the running around he did for me and the quick response time. I fully recommend these to anyone who are after a good track coilover without compromising too much on the street.

An STI owner in America has done an indepth review on the ER series including shock dyno results. Quite an interesting read.

Im interested to find out opinions on these as well. I am looking at the BC ER Series with the external reservoirs for a 32 GTR. They are listed with pillowball mounts and spring rates are F:10kg/mm and R:7kg/mm but im enquiring about getting the setup with normal top mounts and spring rates of F: 7kg and R: 5kg as a max.

The car is mainly street with a track day once a month or so.
Some opinions on these would be great. Or some possible alternatives around the 1700 mark.
Cheers.

I shall be there in Sepang Roy! Will be heading back from the HK sevens and am hanging round KL for a few days in order to hit up the race. Should be good! What area do you suggest sitting in for the best views?
Went to the Singapore night race last year and loved it!

Thanks for the replies guys. Because i want to use the car for track days as well, im going to have to compromise and go a med-hard tyre im thinking. I will keep ringing around and getting prices and info and see how i go.

Thanks for the info Harry.
I just talked to Alan at Z Car Workshop here in Briz and i can get the following prices for Silverstone Tyres
FTZRR in 235/40 (largest in 17) for $375
s585 for slightly less than $375 (no exact price)
Am going to go and have a chat to him tomorrow hopefully and see what they are like, as i havent heard or read much about them.

Got a set of ku36 a few weeks ago from local tyrepower shop in Albury.
Prices were as follows
235/45 -$200
255/40 -$285
245/45 -$245 no stock at the time
Hey Luke,
Thanks for the info. Good prices there, but after factoring in freight and fitting costs, its probably no real saving to buying them locally unfortunately. How do you find the Kumho's? Im thinking about getting a set for the road now anyway.

From what i have found searching, i would say that the R33 GTR speedo sensor should work for you mate. The R33 GTR sensor is electronic and will bolt straight into the 32 GTR transfer case as they are interchangeable. I am looking to source one from Japan as i think it should solve my issue with getting a speed signal to the S13/180sx dash as well, i just may have to use a trim module to fine tune the accuracy.
