  1. For sale full set of original R33 GTR wheels with tyres. As you can see from the photos they have a fair bit of gutter rash but still look hot.

One pair of tyres is only a few months old with loads of tread, other pair still has a fair bit but with some camber wear and not as much.

Asking Price: Swap for original/other R33 GTS-T compatible wheels with tyres $650. Otherwise $800. I don't currently have another set of wheels to put on it so I'd really prefer a swap.

Location: Ramsgate, NSW (near Kogarah, south Sydney).

  2. I have a friend who lives at West Pennant hills, she is looking for a trustworthy, honest mechanic to service her BMW. I think she might feel a bit funny going to a "performance" workshop, and I get the feeling they would probably be a bit pricier. Any recommendations?

    Cheers

  3. as for the other 'brands' with the various colour chinese made coil packs. my experience has not been so great. they worked ok for about 10 months, then 1 failed. luckily they do have local service cause you might well need it! in their defence the coil was tested and promptly replaced. things were fine again for a while. now they again have a light miss that goes away when I swap them out for a set of OEM coils. so we'll see what happens from here.

Does anyone else have anything to add with long term use of the cheap chinese coil packs? I'm leaning toward getting a set of the yellow jackets but wondering whether it's worth spending a little extra on Splitfires. It would suck to have a $400 set fail a month out of warranty!!

  4. If someone doesn't buy my stuff I'm gonna have to put it on ebay :(

  5. pretty much correct. if you want I have the 33 service manual here so you can workout what wire you need .

Yes please Chris if it's not too much trouble! Would be lovely if I could drive to uni tomorrow instead of wasting hours mucking around with public transport :D I'll PM you my email address.

In the R31 the alternator will "self excite" when you hit 2 or 3K RPM, but before that your voltage will be very weak.

Interesting... I'm not sure if this is true of the 33, cause I had it revving at 4-5000 rpm to stop it from stalling at one point, and it was misfiring *a lot*... I'm thinking if the alternator was running this would not have happened.

  6. I've had to send my instrument cluster away for repair, and the day after I noticed the battery went flat quicksmart. Checked the voltage when the car's running and it was 12 point something, so clearly the alternator isn't working, and a bit of googling leads me to believe that something in the instrument cluster enables the alternator.

So, my question is, does anyone know if there's an easy workaround to turn the alternator on? I can only drive about 40km's before the battery goes dead

  7. I put Castrol VMX80 in rb25det box and it's not great. Doesn't crunch, but doesn't shift nicely - not sure if notchy is the right term.

I did have the car on stands when I filled it, but surely the small angle wouldn't make much difference?

Should I try a different oil, or put in a tube of Nulon G70?

Edit: Put some Nulon G70 in today. Will give it a few hundred km's and see how much difference it makes.
