Hey guys, I have a RB20DET, and i am looking at upgrading the cams. Now i have been looking at HKS cams, and more specifically 256 duration with 8.8mm lift or the 264 duration with 9.0mm lift. Now i was wondering if the RB20DE or RB25DE cams have similar profile as these would be significantly cheaper then HKS items, and whether these cams will fit in a RB20DET. Finally what would be the ideal setup for a street car aiming to make 450hp (fly), the HKS 264 cams or will RB20DE cams do the trick? I am aiming to maximise the response of the turbo, midrange power and if possible make the turbo spool quicker, i am not after peak power ONLY if 250rwkw is hit, otherwise i need a set of cams to help me make 250rwkw.:uh-huh: My main mods are as follows 3.3" exhaust, FMIC, pod, DSBC, clutch, 2 way diff, PFC. Now i am also looking at a suitable turbo to match (450hp), will a HKS GT2835Pro (internal gate and T3 flange) be best suited for my application or should i be looking at a HKS GT2530 or Garrett GT25 or Garrett GT28 or even a GCG Hi flow 450 hp item (i am after a bolt on item as well, and keep the internals stock)? Any comments are more then welcome as i would like to hear everyones experiences/opinions. Thanks!

Notice the theroidical word in my statement..i know it can be done, i have seen it to.....but not with a stock fuel pump, no RRR, or similar. I pointed out this things as i am sick of people posting complete crap so that they can sell their car or parts. If your not selling the CAI, pump, AVC-R, raising rate reg or anything else need to make the 185rwkw then done claim it makes that 185rwkw in that package, that is false advertising mate. If it wasnt for theory your mechanical practice would mean nothing, almost everything has theories behind them. So before you start going i am a mechanic i know all, think about how they figured out all these things, it was probably some text book junkie or lab geek that discoved it and put it into practice. I am not squabbling over power figuers i am stating that what you have posted is misleading, if you are that confident of your mechanical abilities/prowess and the power producing capabilities of the package then you should not have to distort the turth in order to close a sale or gain interest, nor care what i have to say. I couldnt care less how many rwkw it makes, just state what the package you are selling makes. "I am sure after this posting that s13rb26 will fit a TD-06 20G with ext. gate injector programmable ecu and other goodies, as it would be an easier option that arguing with pricks like you!" And what does that prove? nothing, and mate watch your mouth. I appologies if i have affected your sale, however resulting to lame insults just doesnt work, it is childish. As i have said i posted to determine the legitimacy of the sale and power claim as i have a friend interested which i dont want to be ripped off. If you can prove that it makes that power with the mods that are supplied in the package, fine i accept that i am wrong, otherwise dont advertise something that misconstrues the truth.

There is a really good post on SDU or here where a guy has actually done the conversion, he can tell you exactally what is involved in the modification..

pistons not to bad, the rods and crank another $1500 probably, and then you gotta get them machined, and the bore oversized etc, probably another 1-2g's worth of work. Personally i wouldnt bother, 250rwkw is crazy anywayz (stock limits of interals)....

the stock injectors limit is 170rwkw btw......have seen more but... stroking the RB20 isnt worth it, might as well wack a R25 or 26 in for the price, you need RB26 Rods and crank and 86mm pistons (i think like 4AGE pistons, or similar), that will get you a 2.4L but not worth the $$ or effort. i dont know whats the go with this : "It's a gt2530, however it has been modified with a larger compressor cover and wheel, I think gt28 series." I just dont know why someone would modify the HKS turbo and change the wheels, seems pointless, might as well buy a garrett turbo.

Nah mines just a normal s13 front, i live in ACT so i dont think you would have seen it around, you might have i dont know, but its black, white bonnet, FMIC, big exhaust and stock evertyhing else (on the outside) except the upgraded brakes and s14/R33 rims.

Hey guys, Personally i have never experienced a defect or similar...yet, but that probably due to the fact that my car is a sleeper (rock stock outside), however this really is just getting ridculous! One of the things said so far couldnt have been put any better "Its just down right un-Australian" Its just not the australia spirit! I mean its essentially racism, but for cars (probably a lil over the top but you get the idea), if you drive an import you will get targeted, otherwise your pretty much safe. I suggest that we all put our heads together an maybe write a letter to some news program or similar stating the problem and try to find answers to these questions. At least it will be in the public eye then. Because at the rate we are going, like Steve said "What's next? Any car that has any aftermarket parts fitted will be duely summonsed for an inspection?" and then we will have no chance at all! Just on a final note i really dont get this logic (not your quote GTR King, but the ADR's): " If u build it legal and to comply with ADRs u wont have a prob unless u smart mouth the cops" Please tell me what is so illegal about putting a BOV on (you may say its increases the emmisions) but wouldnt you think that a pre 80's car (running LP) would be doing worse for the environment then a 90's (running ULP or PULP) model car with a BOV? I mean thats a tad excessive....how much extra emmisions can a BOV make when it only vents compressed air, and maybe a smidgen of oil???
