Someone will have an idea, i'm sure. Pretty sure there are different markings on the block that identify which R-chassis it came out of, and other little identifying marks. I believe the oil pump sleeve on the crank is different after R32, etc.

Hi guys I've been having troubles trying to find out the year of the rb26 that went into my enr34
engine number is
rb26034074A
Just wondering if someone could look it up for me?
I don't think that's possible to look up without the VIN of the car it came from.

Thanks Randy, not clear on the blank between the S and AA ,GTR registry quotes V-Spec 17" Tyre but X clearly states its a GTR not a V-Spec
only 3 V-spec's in 09/92 as per GTR registry?
what's your take on that info?cheers, bob
I imagine it's just a 17" wheel option that the V-Spec gets by default. Just a guess.

Can some one do a FAST check on my 32R
model: BNR32-221852
any info would be great, Km traveled in Jap (last rego check) options included etc...
thanks in advance
The FAST system is just Nissan's build database, so it only shows how your car rolled off the production line.
You can check the options decoded from the "Model", but GTR registry has already translated it all for you.

The VIN can't lie!
If you're viewing you could jack the rear up and spin a tyre by hand to confirm I guess? GL! -

Thanks!! Series 3? No idea how to read these haha
Certainly not the '95 in your profile hey!
FAST is the source of all truth but Mark pulled all that info and put it in the form of http://gtr-registry.com.
You can bang yours into http://gtr-registry.com/en-bcnr33-vin-table.php and you can verify that it is indeed a s3, and all the option codes from FAST are translated too. (large front spoiler!) =-D

Sorry to bring up an old thread but just wanted to say that I fixed my tacho this morning by resoldering all the bits on the PCB board, even the main chip
I have zero soldering experience and get it working… after TEN years of having the broken tacho!
Thanks for the instructions!
Funnily enough, two weeks ago my replacement tacho is now doing the same thing. I'll solder everything and see what happens. It makes sense that it's a dry solder joint since it's a sudden yet intermittent fault.

More as an option, you can also look VIN up on the following site which I tend to use in conjunction with FAST.
https://nissan.epc-data.com/ - just put in the model # into the search box e.g. WGNC34-103359
https://nissan.epc-data.com/stagea/wgnc34/286-rb26dett/?frame_no=WGNC34-103359&ref=
The EPC online has been around forever but Mark made this more recently: (https://www.sau.com.au/forums/profile/95792-sin/)
http://gtr-registry.com/ choose car, then vin table.

It's that to source parts properly in FAST, including trims and colours, he only uses FULL VIN & 'Model Code'. This ensures the correct part is filtered/selected out and displayed. Dont know why, just using the partial VIN doesnt do that. It gives you a list of options and you have to work out which one you need. So we have both been used to using the full VIN & Model code for part searches.
Yeah sometimes you get options using the short code, but it will say RB20, or 4 door etc and you just choose the correct one and you get the right part. If you put the model code you get the options for rear wiper, airbags, stereo etc too. Trim and colour has always been 100% correct with the short code. Give it a go in gtr-registry =-]

Correcto! I'm sure your Nissan guy is doing something odd if he can't get it to work as designed. =-/

You can also use badass sites like this, that have extracted all the info:

And could someone tell me how to do this without the model code. BOTH my FAST programs complain they need the Model Code to FAST that VIN. I know a Nissan guy who says he has the same problem sometimes on his Dealer system.
Not sure what's up. I put ECR33 xxxxxx and it's fine.

I was all set to pay and go (finally!) but now more bills means no rego and CTP. Fkkkkkk!

There was nothing stopping you from doing that with those rules in place
Agreed, but I had to check! =-]

With the change of venue to the wet pan, those rules will be re-examined.
Excellent. I imagine if it's entirely wet there won't be much smoke, but I do like a good handbrake around witches hats.

What's the go with sliding and smoke nowadays? I don't see anything about it above? =-]
How To Fix Tacho, R33 (maybe)
in Tutorials / DIY / FAQ

Thanks for the update. I never got round to fixing the second cluster/tacho so I might try this method. Did you use some jumper wires or something for the direct connection? You'd have to scrape away at the trace and tack a conductor onto it yeah?
