    History:

This car is a rare private import with full Australian compliance. I sourced this car personally in Japan and it was purchased in standard form from Auction with a Grade of 5 and one previous owner. All servicing in Japan was performed at Nissan Prince Saitama and Nismo Oomori Factory. Servicing in Australia has been primarily performed by Proconcept in Ryde. Receipts can be shown for servicing.

The car has always been maintained maticulously and those who have seen the car can vouch for it. There is no need to perform any servicing or maintenance on the car and it is ready to go. Mechanical checks are welcome. I can personally guarantee this is one of the best example late model GTRs in Australia.

  2. *BUMP*

A few serious buyers but all have fallen through.

Consequently car has been placed in this weeks trading post.

This is seriously one of the cleanest R33 GTR's in Australia. Everyone that has come seen it can testify to that. A genuine series 3 with all service logs going back to Japan. I personally owned this car in Japan as well and it has been maticulously maintained in Australia.

Price has been updated to $45000.

  3. JL 12W-04 12" Subwoofer in Pioneer box

    Asking price $100

The prefab Pioneer box is suited to the sub and the volume is what is recommended by JL. From the pictures it can be seen that the sub is in excellent condition. Reason for selling is selling car.

  5. I ordered the whiteline handling kit + front camber kit

Just spoke to my mechanic who is fitting it today, he said the swaybars don't look any different to the stock ones, except they are silver and have 2 settings... is this normal? not meant to be thicker/stronger or is it stronger/stiffer but just not visably noticable?

Should i be putting both on the stiffer setting?

he also said all my existing bushes seem to be in good condition, nothing wrong with them which is good, but is replacing them with the whiteline supplied ones anyway.

Yes they don't look VERY different. They are however solid and have the settings and the GTR ones are hollow. When your mechanic takes the standard ones out hold them both to notice the difference. However, you can get even more solid/stiffer ones from Japan ......

The settings you should use depend on how you want the car to handle. I had both settings set to hard and the car would understeer to no end. Since then I have softened the front sway bar and without going to the track, it does seem more towards neutral/oversteer.

Let me know how you go with the front camber as I will be getting it done soon.

  6. I was going to hijack Kor'axis thread, but that's not really fair :D Anyway....

Well, actually, I lie: I have been looking at a Clarion VRX935VD for a headunit as you can get them imported for about $1500 (yes, I know, warranty blah blah blah) and there isn't a major issues with getting it fixed to work in Australia with PAL inputs, aussie frequencies, and Region 4 stuff (in fact, Clarion Australia will do this). Does anyone have any experience with this headunit? Any other recommendations? If my tax return doesn't stretch that far (cmon Johnny H, gimme a hand here :() I might go for an Alpine 9815 or 9835.

Now, moving along from that is where I really get lost. People start talking crossover,  monoblock, component, etc and my eyes glaze over. So, perhaps the more knowledgable out there can help.

To give you and idea of what I am after, I like sound quality (so I was thinking something along the lines of Focal, Phoenix Gold, Hertz, etc) and while I am not a base junky who wants sonar range for their bass, I would like something that can give me a good dash of bass should I be in the mood. Budget is reasonably flexible, say somewhere in the range of 1000-2000 (excluding headunit). If need be I would prefer to buy a smaller number of quality parts I can compliment later when budget allows, than just buying everything and having to sacrafice quality.

Anyway, let the recommendations roll in

    LW.

Hi there.... Just going on the original topic for a sec.. I'm probably not one of the "more knowledgeable" ones out there but I found myself in a very similar predicament to you only about 2 months ago. I had a stock system in my 33 GTR and had no idea what to do and went on other peoples recommendations TWICE and ended up with systems I didn't really want TWICE. I went from:

    1) stock ->

    2) JBL Splits + Fusion amp +Pioneer deck + stacker + Sony subs ->

    3) Same splits + same amp + JVC MP3 deck + JL 12W0 sub.

Finally I've found what I really want and its just clear punchy bass, really crisp sound quality. So in this sense it sounds like you want something similar.... I decided I didn't want the sub anymore (removal for track days, wanting my boot back) so in the end I have taken out my sub and head unit and I have what I consider "a smaller number of quality parts I can compliment later when budget allows". Now I have the Alpine 9835 I imported from overseas and its an excellent deck. I recommend it highly. And no sub.

I gave Marty (FHRX) a call and he came up with the suggestion to overpower the splits and run full range while sound deadening the doors. While this is nowhere near a "complete" system with loud sub-woofer bass. I find it quite clear and the mid-bass is punchy (enough for me). And it fills the front seats perfectly. There's still a few things left to do and I actually would consider more sound deadening but I thought this may be one approach you may consider esp. if you can get some good splits and amp with your deck.

It's like saying the RB26 looks different to the SR20.

But they are the same aren't they :) Anyway free plug for Marty, if you're in doubt just give him a call. Marty has been more than accomodating for me and has made every effort to answer my (probably stupid) questions as well as let me and a friend listen to his demo car etc.

  7. was it an AM PM around the corner from where we stayed!??!! i can't remember!

Yeh it was hehe. But there are so many everywhere..... remember the episode of trying to explain to the guy we wanted to buy tickets to TAS there haha.

Anyway back to your topic as I want to know this info too. Might as well add if anyone in Japan knows of any job websites that are the equivalent to www.seek.com.au etc. but that are in eigo so a stupid gaijin like me can understand??

  8. I was tossing up between the OS Giken twin plate or the nismo G-max twin plate for my GTR and decided that due to having to convert the clutch type and also paying the bit more I'd go with the Nismo. I have tried to drive a car with a OS Giken twin (pull type) and the main difference I found was that the OS was a LOT harder to push in. Apart from this the two clutches engaged really quickly when u lift up. I think it's probably the pull mechanism that has something to do with this because I've driven a 33 GTS-T with a Nismo Gmax twin (push type) and although it wasn't as obvious as the OS Giken it was still harder to push in....

I found that after about 2/3 weeks of driving the nismo twin its easy to get used it. It rattles a bit and in fact gets more rattly the more it's driven but it doesn't really bother me..... sometimes I get some weird looks when I'm moving slowly to park the car and its so loud...

  9. Transport would be similar to the way we travelled. Mainly by subway/train. But your rent and transport would relate... rent would drop possibly further away from the city (if you're working there) and transport would increase.

And Franky... its AM PM and Lawson.... not 7/11 :)

  10. for those of you running redline, how is your gearbox in the mornings or when the engine/oils are cold? i find that my gearbox is really difficult to get into 1st and 2nd when cold but when warm it just slides in .....

Fwanky - I bought some redline shockproof lightweight on the weekend. It's going into the car this week. I've got the same issue as you and Duncan - always a bit notchy when its cold and even sometimes when it's warm. I'll let you all know how it is after I put it in. I've got castrol (grade unknown) at the moment. From reports I should expect a good result.
