  1. Hi, just wanted to ask question about the factory nav screen..

when the screen is down, and you start the car, does the screen automatically pop-up?

mine does not but i remember reading somewhere that it does this for some people..

if someone's screen does this can they enlighten us as to the setting to change to get it do work?

    cheers,

    Warren

Mine is 2002 model and the screen does not pop automatically but I remember seeing an '05 model that did have an auto screen.

  2. Raining again tonight and after an hours drive in the rain my girlfriend steps out of the car with one wet shoe. Interesting... i had a bit of a look up the footwell and low and behold I see water dripping down the wiring looms! I dare not look behind the ECU cover just incase im in for a shock. Sh!t.

Is there anywhere for the water to come into the cabin?. I mean der, of course there must be somewhere but im not sure where. Possibly thru that air vent behind the battery (i think thats what it looks like). Would it come through there if I had no battery cover? Better yet, i wonder how water is getting down there...

    Thanks!

Did you get a warranty from C-Red when you bought it? Might pay to go back and ask them for the battery cover and to see if while they were doing all the mods wether or not they might have taken a cover off around the ecu unit etc and forgot to put it back, might be a simple thing and save you alot of stuffing around.

P.S. I hear the guy in the meat van loved your sound as well :) .

  3. It was stuck up where the glovebox is and I pulled it out about 4 months ago to do some research and never noticed any difference in operation. The number on the side is ATV-62. I have it sitting on my desk at work so I'll take some more photo's next week.

I checked though and yes the TV screen with static comes on only when the car is in Park. Otherwise i can hear the sound but I get another screen in japanese(which probably says the car needs to be stopped). Can't remember if it did that before.

I have something similar but I found another wire heading of in the direction of the steering wheel, I fished around behind the panels and a small push button fell out when I pressed I found out it allowed me to get video signal whilst I was driving. Have a look you may find you have a similar switch mine was obviously tucked away for compliance.

  4. Yeh, Iam looking for the diagrams either, wish anyone are able to upload one. that will be execllent.

You might want to check with Chris or Brian about getting a cable made up first. Otherwise you will have to take the lid off. BE VERY CAREFUL do not short anythong otherwise you will be in for some bucks to fix.

I haven't found a diagram of it yet either.

  5. this is cool.i could hook up a small dvd player to it and have it sit in the glove box somewhere! (untill someone finds a solution to swapping out the factory pc dvd rom for one that actually plays dvds and still retains the bits it needs!)

Can't take out the original DVD ROM player as it is hooked into Engine management info, TV Tuner. Take it out and you loose TV Tuner whitch means the aux in goes, then you have to get rgb convertor to get screen working again.

Best so far is to lengthen wiring loom (4 hours) move original unit down behind glove box and then fit a normal DVD player and run cable to TV Tuner in boot. All beyond average joe's ability, eastern staters need to talk to Chris Rodgers in Brisbane (he is all over this forum) and west coasters need to see brian at Autotainment in Perth.

  6. IT doctor... how are you getting video from the mp3 player to the screen? if you can get video to it then there's no reason you can't get otehr video sources to it ie DVD player or external TV tuner

I tapped into the "aux in" on the tv tuner in the boot.

Yes I could basically run anthing that has video and sound through that.

  7. very easy...

    2 wires:

    - +12V

    - ground

the loom plugs into the back of the mirror and then up through the wire cover and into the hood liner. you will see that our cars already have the hole there for hte wire th go through.. its meant to be there really

then i just ran the loom across the hood liner, down the A pillar cover, and then behind the dash

i gorunded the ground to the chassis, and onnectged the +12 to the cigarette lighter, and that's it

the auto dimming feature is better than it sounds, it really is

    Cool

Good to see the pics as I couldn't get my head around were the wires would go but looks very factory, well done.

Have you tried to program the remote yet?

  8. chris-on the radio side-how are you implementing the fm band converter?

Will you use the type of band expander with both negative and positive leads seperate from the antenna for improved reception? and has the v35 got 2 antenna : diversity and main?

Why don't you do what I have done and get a MP3 player ie Gigabeat or Ipod and tap into the aux in port I ran the wires through the roof to the sunglasses holder and I put my Toshiba Gigabeat in there. It is neat out of the way, has a 60GB Hdd will play video, MP3's and photo's and it all comes up on the factory screen with the sound going through the bose.

  9. Yep look at my case , the compliance place has f**ked my v35 and i havnt had it for nearly 6 months

It is stories like this that make me glad I decided to buy a car from a local dealer and pay a few thousand dollars extra and get to test drive it first and see that everything is working correctly.

I hope you get it all sorted in the end but does the saving nd waiting seem worth it now?

  10. Need something a little more practical unfortunately

Actually thinking of Golf GTi DSG,Mazda 3 MPS or the new WRX if it looks better in the metal

At least I've got my 32 GTR to maintain the Skyline fix :nyaanyaa:

Mid to high 40's as it is was about what I was thinking. The HKS kit is not cheap at around double the price of a Vortec.

    Chris

Why not a 350GT-8 Sedan then you can transfer all the goodies to the new one?

    Paul

  11. Therefore our overall conclusion is not able to do it? But in UK they are able to do it? why not us?

    http://soarer.tv/jap-imports-sva/Nissan-35...Conversions.htm

I have just bought the car today, but not yet try anything yet. I have no idea how the UK people did theirs.

Any idea guys? After all the effort that has been done on your 350GT?

Does anything work with low cost? less then 600 dollars?

They are using something like a VDO or Blaunkput Nav system and feeding it into the OEM screen. You wont get one for under $600 but the guys to speak to are Brian from Autotainment in Perth and Chris from Audio Express in Brisbane, these 2 guys seem to be the only ones that really understand the challenges we face with these systems.

A mate of mine got a Tom Tom and stuck in on the screen that was a solution for under $600.... :laughing-smiley-014:

  12. Mine is a 12/03 GT-350 Coupe

    Had it since October 2005

    White

    Premium model with 1/2 leather

    Manual 6 speed

    20" Rims

    Whiteline swaybars

    HKS Supercharger

    Chris

Can you put your rim, tyre and offset measurements in the corresponding topic in this forum it would be good to get a bit of a database going. It is good to see a nice fit on cars and it would help others when they are searching for rims etc.

  13. geoff,

i find it hard to workout exactly what you are asking, but i'll offer these points if it can help you in any way:

    - the 350GT has fold down rear seats so in actual fact the boot becomes HUGE once the seats are folded down and can hold very long items - eg fishing gear

    - the coupe and sedan versions have exactly the same leg room just that the sedan had slightly more head room and has a middle seat - so the coupe is not to be written off

    - the 350GT does 0-100 in 6.0sec so is not a slow car by any means - might be slightly slower with the CVT transmission

    - it has heaps of room for taller blokes like me and you (i'm 6"4 and i know you're tall)

so if i can offer any help at all i say get your wife a 350GT in ivory pearl, my girlfriend thought it looked amazing in the white colour and its much more suited to females than silver or black i personally believe.

What are you saying, I'm driving a womans car??? :)

  14. HI all, I got my 2002 V35 today and it is kick-a$$. Besides the point, it has the pop-up screen etc. and a DVD unit above the glovebox. Written on the DVD unit is "DVD ROM" and "Satelite Navigation". I am looking for a little clarity on info from earlier posts - will NTSC / Zone 2 DVD movies play on this system? (Zone 2 is the DVD region for Japan per http://www.laserrot.com/info/lrinfo/dvdmap.html)

Also, I was unfortunate enough not to get a Japanese navigation DVD with my car - does anyone have one that I can have / buy, alternatively do copies work - I would like to show off abit and laugh at the nav's reaction to me driving off into the water!

Any help on either of these points would be faaaantastic!

    Thanks,

    Ben.

Ben the DVD doesn't play movies of any type.

The dvd's for 2002 are about 7.6GB so copying is a dual layer affair good luck if you can do it.

Not much point at the end of the day as you said all it is good for is seeing yourself driving in the water or somewhere in Japan.

  15. well actually i have had a bit of a think, and i am thinking of not programming the remote at this stage for a while

see i alternate which car i keep poutside at the moment as we have only one garage space and 2 cars so i don't want to program the remote and leave it outside. if someone breaks into the car they could just wire in 12V to the remote and open the garage door!

but if you keep your car inside it would be fine.

but just on the auto-dim feature its worth it i think - its stupid to think that its not standard with the premium pack like in the USA..

    here's a link to a mirror:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Infiniti-G3...152880803QQrdZ1

..but that one doesn't look like it comes with the loom..

this is hte exact one i bought from the exact seller:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Gentex-Auto...emZ130135574974

the model as standard on the G35 is the "Gentex GENK40"

it fits onto the standard window wedge :D

Thanks for that but would the person breaking into your car need to know what a homelink mirror is, not exactly standard stuff here in OZ.
