  1. I sold my R33 to save for a house, and now have a pulsar.... It gets very depressing at times when you go a decent drive, however the pulsar is just so much cheaper to run and maintain.... in terms of money, it was by far the most sensible decision i ever made...as a positive, i'll also save towards that gtr so much faster as well....

  2. I don't think they are going down the wrong track ... if you are after a car that is all out performance then yes, a big heavy 4 door sedan is not ideal. HSV is all about making the big sedan about as performance oriented as it can get. I love our V8s (I have 3 of them !!!), they are bloody quick, very comfortable, look great (IMO anyway) and more than enough room to load up the family, fill up the boot and head off on holidays. They are sensational highway cars, overtake with ease, cruise at 100 km/h with less than 2000 rpm on the clock and bucket loads of torque ready to get you moving when you need to ... and the kids can sit in the back and watch a DVD.

Point taken. Agreed, But you dont need 7 litres for that. Its just not a smart way to get there, in terms of being enviromentally friendly. I just think its overkill, thats all. I understand its obviously not about that, But it is the way of the future. look at all the manufactures form around the globe... Most are all about being climate friendly.

Anyway, whatever gets hsv owners into a gtr must be good, all the hsv owners i know, are the most stubborn people i know.

  3. some people go over that fine line.....

its just a joke. I'm sure 99% of readers would at the agree. Sorry if i "crossed the line".

    Back on topic.

You would have to be a extremely loyal HSV die-hard to not think the GTR is great value for money. If anything, it will prove beyond doubt that the aussie car builders are not progressing down the right track when it comes to building a performance car. Less capacity, better performance in this case. Maybe they would get better results (sales) if they copied someone other than the yanks. Surely the days of bogans being the number one fan base are limited, especially in light of the oil crisis and the whole climate control issue. Reguardless of all that crap, I would prefer to see the GTR on the street. Living where i do, that would make the papers!

  4. I was going to put a link up to that thread ... I have been a member on LS1 for almost 4 years and have owned 4 HSVs and heaps of Holdens. I currently have a SS-V, an E Series GTS and a heavily modified HSV Coupe 4 that has recently run a 10.982 @ 124 mph down the qtr on street tyres. I think it's fair to say that I am a die hard a Holden / HSV fan ... but that doesn't mean I think everything else is crap. Most members on LS1 give credit where it's due, there have even been threads on the Typhoon that have been mostly positive !!! You get the tools ... but every forum has them.

I have placed a deposit on an R35 as quite simply it looks to be the best sports car ever made for the money. I will still own Holdens, especially as we have 2 young kids and need a sedan with room for the whole family ... but no Commodore will ever be able to do what the GT-R can do. I think the fact that several LS1 members have placed a deposit on a GT-R ... and several others are seriously considering it ... shows just what sort of impact the release of the GT-R has had.

I envy your position. But on a serious note, Want to do a trade? ME for one of your kids? I can feed myself and go to the toilet by myself. PM me if interested. I promise i wont mess the gtr when you take me to work in it!

  5. How much would car dealers give for a stock R33 GTS-T coupe with 70 K on the clock in trade in?

Had my Skyline for 2 years now... maybe it is about time to move on.

I took my 97 model S2 40th anni edition which i paid $20 thou for, to a yard to be quoted trade in price last year. I was told that i'd be pushing my luck to get 10 thou. My car was perfect condition, everything neat, tidy, perfect mech. yeah.... i was a bit upset.

i was expecting that though, and sold it privately a month or two later for a substantial amount more than that.

  6. My point is, he was advertising a 1997 model R33..obvioulsy should be a Series II in that year range.

It had no 2nd air bag which all Series II do, even 95 which are sometimes refferred to as Series 1.5 have an air bag.

It was at least a 94, but with a 97 plate..

oh ok... i hought maybe this was an indication about my car..

  7. Well i did see an advertised 97 model a few years back when looking for a mate.

Looke lookie, no 2nd air bag, but the Aus plate under the bonnet did say 97

The guy was dodgey as and trying a bung deal me thinks.

So it can be done but i think that one was intentional for all the wrong reasons.

But anyways, jump on the VIN check thread, it's free.

...and then you might get lucky and find your cars newer than expected..can't hurt

How is the 2nd air bag relevent? Does only the 98 model have one? My car has one.

  8. I have the R33 40th too but it's 1998.

I'm sure all the other I've seen a '98 too.

Get your VIN checked, you might be suprised and find it's a 98 that was incorrectly stamped. :D

i think the mistake stamping is extremely unlikely. i asume it would be the same as all the other 40th editions. defenitely surprised if it was the only 1997 model. a lot of cars/motorbikes are built one year, released the next. , For example my dad just bought a 2007 model yamaha FJR 1300, but it was built in 2006. The R33's ceased production in march 1998. my car says august 97.
