  1. Has he got insurance.. Or more importantly.. Do you? Get a repairer to take a look.. might be a write off anyway.. So insurance can pay you out..

yeah i have full comprehensive insurance which cost a s*** load but it looks like it was worth paying after something like this has happened.

the other guy is totally screwed as he had no insurance not even third party, the car wasn't even registered.

  2. hey peoples, selling my skyline as its not the ideal family car and want to get something a little more practical.

the car was pretty much stock when i bought it except for the 3" blitz exhaust system and 400R nismo 17" rims the previous owner bought for it,the only things ive done to it is a nismo 400R front bumper and side skirts, car alarm and immobilizer, boost gauge along with a oil pressure gauge.

the car has 83,xxx kms on it and 12 months rego along with a recent full service eg fluids, spark plugs, timing belt, water pump etc.

the car has 2 slight dents above the passenger window which can be seen in the pics but other than that theres no other problems.

i do have a turbosmart bov,hks mushroom filter and boost controller for it if you want them as i will have no need for them, the filter and bov have been used only once but took them off as i didnt want no hassles from the cops and the boost controller has never been used.

sound system comes with the car.......

    selling it for $8,000 ono.

any questions feel free to ask.also the letters you see in one of the pics of the rear end have been removed.

  3. Basically if its accepted you get your certificate and are covered. If underwriting review and deem the risk not acceptable they call and send out a decline of cover letter and yes if they need more information. The underwriters are paid heaps to do what they do if they cocked up and accepted the cover the onus is on the insurer.

With regards to road worthiness, the reason why the tyres might be a mute point is something I cannot go into. The reason it(road worthiness) is there is the blanket protect insurers.

    **********

With regards to the event (or accident) he said he went around a corner, there are too many variables to say yes he is at fault straight up. Did he have right of way, where was the other party sitting etc...

c'mon what variables?p-plater,wet conditions and no doubt speed.

  4. the acc valve could be fu*ked or out of adjustment, have u checked that out at all.theres no point putting up with just take ur car to someone who knows what theyre doing and c what they think..

thats the problem,no one in my area knows what they are doing.

you mention an aac valve and they just stand there with a confused look on their face plus the fact no one wants to find the problem yet alone touch the car cause its an import.

the other day me and a mate checked the aac valve out, when my car was revving at 2500rpm i put the idle screw in to get it to 1000rpm but he turned it all the way back out to where it was originally and it only revs at 1100rpm which is alot better than 2500,still dont know why it use to rev so high but now it only revs to there.

  5. been thinking.....if it was a carbon seal around the butterfly valve and removing the carbon build up caused my car to over rev than wouldnt the car have been over revving straight from the factory as it wouldnt have any carbon build up as it was new?

    just a thought.

this is what i dont understand, are yous saying its a carbon seal or some sort of rubber or plastic seal?cause there was no seal around the valve only carbon build up,if yous were meaning carbon build up forming a seal than it doesnt make sense????

  6. your throttle body is no longer sealing as you have removed the fine film of sealant on the edge of the butterfly. Air is bypassing it causing a higher idle.

Even though i may now have made you feel a little silly for 'fixing' something that is not broken...ive also saved you some $ on a trip to the dyno.

Get a good 'uncleaned' throttle body to prove what ive just stated.

dont feel silly at all, thanks i will try that and let ya know if you were right.but getting a throttle body that hasnt been cleaned is gonna be hard to get.

also ive had this problem for well over a year now, wouldnt the carbon have built back up enough by then to reseal it?was it a carbon seal or is there an actual sealant i have cleaned off?

its just that people have said its a carbon seal that builds up after years of use while others say there is a sealant made from something i cant remember.

  7. This is why:

There are dozens of threads covering the same problem.

Why on earth people insist on cleaning something that is not ordinarily visible is beyond me.

yeah but they dont tell me how to do a reset and it wasnt like i was cleaning a little bit of carbon out of it,there was a shitload of it and thick.....the thing was putrid.

i wouldnt have bothered cleaning it if it was just a small layer of the shit.

  8. there is no point dynoing it for diagnosing a problem at idle, sounds like an air leak or possibly tps switch requires re-setting.

ok how do you reset the tps switch, yeah i think its an air leak as well but ive checked everywhere for it and the car is stock so no after market intercooler or anything like that where most people get an air leak so it narrows it down to the plenum.

i only took the plenum, throttle body and the aac valve off for a clean and i put them on tight and even put gasket sealant on the plenum after it was idling high and still no change so if it is an air leak i have no idea how its leaking.

i just hope it is the tps and it just needs a reset, can you tell me how do i do it please?

  9. That's not a good comparison lol. Some people prefer the sound of a big block. Some prefer the spooling turbo. Some like blow off valves. Some like big exhausts, silent exhausts or what ever. Regardless everyone has their own taste and what people need to remember is the road is there for EVERYONE. Your car is YOUR OWN. If you don't have a BOV on your skyline, no one is gonna go oh your car is shit coz you dont have a BOV. What gives you the right to talk shit about people who have one and like the sound? If someone came up to me and said oh you're a top bloke you got a BOV, id give him one.

I get what I want on my car for my self, not to please anyone else. Its for me to enjoy. I don't understand why people have to hear a BOV and get the shits. I hate the sound of car boots rattling from bass but I don't care if someone else's boot rattles when I'm waiting in traffic. I'm not going to insist he gets some sound dampening or anything.

i was going on my experience, where i live no one minds you having an atmo bov but its a different story when you keep going past a group of people flooring it past them and letting it off.

i know guys who have done it to the wrong crowd and they jumped in their cars followed him & waited for him to pull over than beat the living shit out of him, another example of a mate who kept doing it past a few drunks and ended up with a shattered windshield from a beer bottle.

must just be my town, there's a tolerance for import owners but none for owners who drive around like wankers.

if i had a guy who kept doing it past me id abuse him as well, like this wanker in his shit commodore whos pissing me off, cause my skyline sites at the front on my yard he goes past sticks it in neutral and revs the shit out of it.....pretty much falls into the same category for an atmo.you dont mind the 1st few times but you get fed up with it pretty fast when they keep doing it.

  10. Long story short, I recently replaced a f**ked gearbox in my car. I had to replace the clutch too, as the f**ked gearbox took the clutch with it.

I've had the car back maybe two weeks since it was all fixed up, and haven't given it any stick at all. Anyway tonight I was driving home, was a nice cold night, no one around so I thought I'd have a bit of fun.

Nothing major, I rolled off gradually from the lights before punching the throttle, then as I quickly put the car into second I stomped the throttle again only to have the revs literally fly up and the car not gain any power.

I thought the rear tyres were spinning, so I quickly put it in third and eased off on the accelerator, but again the revs flew up and I moved no where. It was at this point I obviously realized it was the clutch spinning not the wheels.

At the next stop it became apparent by the stink it was indeed clutch not the wheels. My question is, should a new clutch do this (HD Exedy) in an NA Supra? And how much damage have I done to my current one with this little stunt?

I've given my car much, much rougher shifts and launches at DECA etc, and nothing like this has happened before. Is there a chance they've stiffed me with a dodgy clutch, or was I just too enthusiasitic?

The car drove home fine, the clutch didn't feel any different. Just frustrating after having literally just replaced the clutch.

    Thanks.

why did you do that with a new clutch?you stuffed your clutch and most likely gonna need a new one.

i stuffed my standard clutch and could smell like a electrical smell and then got an exedy sports tough clutch installed and my mechanic told me to drive normal until the clutch is worn in.

its not recommended doing stuff like that with a new one.

  11. what happens when you touch the idle screw?i had no other choice as the car was revving too loud.

when i started it up it was like someone had there foot on the pedal contantly and there was no way i could drive my car around revving so high.

i will get the part number for the spark plugs in the morning as im taking them out,the only other things that have been touched are the plenum, the throttle body, the rocker covers and the aac valve, the plenum and throttle body had some carbon build up so we cleaned it all off and the same with the aac valve and we only took the rocker covers off because it made it a heap easier the put the plenum back on and we put it all back together carefully to make sure it was done right.as far as i know there isnt an air leak but they are near impossible to track down if there was one.

we're in the same boat,it aint your spark plugs because mine was fine until i cleaned all the carbon from the throttle body and the top of the plenum as well.

now my car sits at high idle with no explanation of why it does it?

  12. You forgot to mention:

    POD (Visible/unshielded) - GAY

    ATMO BOV - GAY

Stock airbox and bov ftw. Theres half your problem gone, Plus do you think cops are gonna think to look much further when they see these sitting there?

I really dont get people who whinge about getting defected. your car either sticks out, or you hang around places frequented by police.

Ive been in skylines for seven years, had nearly 10 different chassis with plenty of power and mods. I have NEVER copped a defect. But I dont hang around Maccas either. Gotta use your head buddy.

i agree with that,i got pulled over at a random breath test station they had set up,as soon as i passed the test they said pop the bonnet, the cop shined his torch on the airbox then the bov and i said its all stock and he said your one who learned his lesson and i replied no,a pod and atmo bov are completely useless and have no use and you could tell in his face he loved hearing me say that.

he had a look at my exhaust for a while and asked if its turbo back and that was it he let me go on my way.

nearly every time i take my car out im pulled over and checked for mods and its all because of the hoon skyline owners in my town who like doing burnouts and racing each other at maccas and super market car parks and bov'ing groups of people constantly.

i dont know why some owners have to speed up and let the bov off at groups of people?for starters it dont impress them they most likely think your a d*** head or a try hard.

  13. you know whats the worst part about this whole post, even worse than the 32's shit rear bar???? the fact the you were looking at commodores on carsales!! :/

yeah what of it?i was searching for a commodore as a daily driver, skylines aint the roomiest car to get around in when you have kids.

found a 2000 vt commodore for cheap with low km's so i cant complain,at least im keeping it stock unlike those wankers that go out and buy them and stick a cannon on their exhaust and put shitty ass rear wheels on their car and go out hooning and try to smoke it up at every corner they go around and act like they have the fastest & hardest car in existence.
