  1. Hence why he said it was better as a blanket statement.

Again i see an opinion and no imperical data of back to back tests or 2 dyno charts to prove this with all other factors being equal.

Do you have any charts to prove the curves do build quicker, more boost at same RPM, more power at same boost?

To clarify i dont have any that prove this wrong either.

I am an engineer so like to see evidence of what people claim, as i can claim anything i want as long as i dont need to prove it.

  2. Hypergears new highflows would outperform the GTRS, way cheaper too. Spend left over cash on Injectors and pump and convert to E85 :P

Not to start an arguement with you, but please justify what you mean in terms of out perform?

Are you meaning straight out power figure? Dyno king

    Power curve will build sooner?

    Torque builds faster?

Boost to power level, meaning same boost and engine stress?

    Street driveable to track?

I only say this as i dont like statements that simply say 'out perfrom' or 'better' without any imperical evidence as it can mis-lead people into making a choice that might not suit what they are chasing.

Similar to people chasing power figures rather than a target of driving experience.

This is by no means me suggesting HKS or Hypergear, i say each person is different with different goals in mind, so find your end goal and build to that with price as a secondary option.

  3. i had this happen to me.... and after a shit load of cash and replacement parts, including a re-balanced tail shaft.... it ended up being the exhaust rubbing on the back bumper bar.

make sure the exhaust has all the correct mountings installed and its not close to touching, even if it looks like it wont touch but its close, when driving in gear it changes position a little.

frustrated the hell out of me this did...

i would agree to check this as my mate had an S15 a few years back that sounded similar to this... we changed the exhaust and all went away... was a 4" and changed to a 3" so must have given enough clearence

  4. Sorry if i confused you.... my car come with NISMO clustert from Japan so was set there by NISMO by the previous owner, and i was happy to purchase based on the cert. to prove the ODO was correct

So wen it was bought by nismo do u tell them to set the odm? I'm lost lol

  5. this is a 'how long is a piece of string' question that causes many arguements... search and you will see.

There is too many factors to judge this... example of my car.. stock turbo tuned to run at 13psi.... lasted me 60,000km of pretty hard driving and a couple of track days... then one night doing nothing silly BANG!

Yet my bro at 12psi lasted 8,000km in his R34

    so will it last... yes

    how long... no idea

will it break my engine if it goes bang... do you like to gamble

  6. My understanding is it is illegal to modify the cars kilometeres, but if you keep the old cluster and make a note of it to the DMV that the odo has changed then it is fine, someone can confirm this for me?

I am not sure if a local mech will be able to help, i know my car come in with the NISMO cluster and had certificates from NISMO to approve the odo was reset by them correctly, my car was also allowed to be complied with the cluster based on this cert. and fully registered with it, guy at the pits questioned it but once he saw all the paper work it was rego'd first shot.... this was over 6 years ago now though

  7. To add to that, i myself have come forward as a witness to someone being hit by a car, and i said i would never do it again...

i was treated very poorly by the police and the whole process was rediculous... i had to take time off work at my expense, back then i was casual, to make reports, then to go to court for 2 days just in case i was called, to then be asked one question, then recieve 'compensation' of $40 for all the hours i lost from work and uni...

so what did i get for helping out, a slap in the face as far as i am concerned, i know it is the right thing to do and help, but when they make you feel like a criminal and it starts to cost you income and stress on how to pay bills it makes you think twice the second time....

I'm trained in First Aid and when we had our class our trainer told us things are very different in the US and its also starting to happen here. He told us people feel violated if you help them and some people will threaten legal action. An example which happened in Australia he told us about, someone had passed out, had a heart attack. A first aid trained person was around and performed CPR and did the usual stuff. A rib was fractured and the guy who had the heart attack made a recovery then sued the person who helped him.

You do a good deed and some people will not see it like that. If I was there, sorry I would not touch the person, I would call an ambulance.

The driver in the other car(regardless of car), should have stayed. He was not at fault but leaving the scene was not a good move at all.

These days you try to do something good and you gotta think if its gonna swing back and bite you. I had a major car accident last year, plenty of other cars saw it. No one bothered to get out and ask if I needed help, no one bothered to come forward as a witness, no one bothered with anything.

  8. if you are running stock boost and stock turbo then the gain would be minimal IMO.

Also if you plan on mounting it in the factory location i think you might find it worse as the airflow is directed to the stock cooler via shielding etc

happy to be corrected but i dont see it being a worth while 'upgrade', the stock cooler is good for 10-12psi for road use, track is different story

  9. Yeah, but hard to imagine low battery voltage causing the signal from one sensor to appear on the wiring for another.

agreed.. but think about a bad battery and all the warnings a dash will show... i had a bad battery show the oil light, park brake and light bulb warning... replaced battery and all fixed...

as bad battery can show up random things and is a simple thing to check which requires minimal effort... even just leaving the battery on charge over night and check again in the morning... cost nothing to rule it out :)

  10. before you go looking at all the wiring... have you tried a brand new battery... reason for asking is if it has dropped a cell or 2 then there might not be enough amp's running though...

very simple thing to test and rule out before going to the effort of wire hunting... poor battery can lead to a lot of issues people dont consider...

  11. Matt, the issue is that if someone when presented with the facts can't realise when they're wrong

As much as i agree with you everyone is allowed an opinion and facts are only facts based on someone's interpretation(OPINION) of the results.

Any person with half a brain can make the same result or fact seem different just by a few words, this would then leed to opinion.

5% unemployment... so this can be said that 95% are employeed... same 'fact' different writting can lead to different opinion.

Dont stress yourself in life trying to prove people are wrong, as you might be right but it only comes accross as you being arrogant and a know it all....

not saying you are either of these but not having meet you some people could judge based on the 'facts' on these posts, again fact to someone based on opinion.

Have a great christmas and lower the stress

  12. Take it back to the person who first complied the car as they have not done their job correctly if you dont have the anchor points, they are a requirment to get rego'd...

If then any compliance place should be able to get them for you.

    Fabcar

Autoworx (these guys did mine many years ago)

  13. it sounds like my car was when i got it from Japan years ago.

the boost control solinoid was not connected and i found that i actually had an Impul ECU which supported the higher boost level.

check where the vacume hose from the waste gate goes, if not to a solinoid then it will be straight to engine like mine was, if this is the case then check the ECU also as if it is a stock ECU you could end up doing damage...

  14. If we take the Nissan advertised 357KW at the flywheel and your "claimed" base line run of 262AWKW thats a 36% power train loss. So your 380AWKW on the same dyno would equate to 516KW at the flywheel!!! I suggest you race another car with similar power to weight figures and see how you go.... All to often the dyno results seem to differ to the bitumen results.. Hope yours isnt the case but it seems exaggerated IMHO.

no offense intended here so please dont take any.... drive train loss is not a percentage it is more a total figure...

the loss is the rotating mass of the parts from the flywheel to the road, this does not change by a percentage once you increase power, so if you loose 90KW at stock then you will only ever loose close to this when you power up maybe slightly more... so if you add 200kw you dont all of a sudden need 150kw to move the drivetrain if that makes sense.

please prove me wrong anyone in the know but this is how i understand physics.

  15. Hi StevenCJR31 - correct me if i am wrong but they are legal as long as they are part of the alarm/emmobiliser and can be shut down upon someone trying to steal/break into the car.. I have this and i passed the pits with it.

  16. i had a wierd issue with my car after changing the turbo so this is a long shot for you...

my tuner left the splash gaurd off the bottom of the car after i picked it up and wasn't until the following week i figured out the issue as the fan was blowing the dirt around on the drivway... i then got it put back on and the car ran cooler... just a thought.

  17. what part of "both drivers were uninsured" didnt you guys get?

At the risk of agreeing with spremy (Mr Eps) if the other guy was unrego'ed then tell him to suck a dick, and if he doesnt like it, tell him to file a report with the police. Because of the lack of rego, the other car is immediately at fault for simply being on the road.

100% agree - tell the guy to file a report against you as he should not have been on the road... he wont dob himself in

Hey officer i was driving an un rego car and had a crash can you help.... duh no brainer really...
