  1. The Garrett T51R and HKS T51R SPL is the same core but are not the same covers / housings.

    The GT4202, GT45 76mm inducer compressor, T51R, HKS T51R, Billet 76, Billet 74, Billet 72, Turbonetics T72, T74, T76, PTE 76, PTE 74, PTE 72 all use essentially the same compressor wheel in different trims.

    Don't be fooled by thinking any of them is a newer design. They are very good comp wheels but are all same same.

    The New Billet B76-GTS uses a T7 7075 billet compressor wheel that is of the same design but is stronger and lighter.

    Other compressor wheels that should be looked at in this frame size are The Billet S72-GTS, Billet S75-GTS and BorgWarner S372, BorgWarner S375, BorgWarner S475. Again all these comp wheels are from the same casting but in different trims. These are extended tip technology compressor wheels (ETT). This is some technology that is fairly new to the performance seen.

    These comp wheels have a much lower surge limit, flow more and are exceptionally efficient at high pressure ratios.

    The Billet S72-GTS and BorgWarner S372 flow similar to a GT4202 but have a 72mm inducer. The Billet S75 and BorgWarner S475 out flow the HKS T51R SPL by around 8lb/min, have much lower surge limit, and are super efficient at high pressure ratios.

    The down side to the BorgWarner’s is they are quite bulky (They are freaking huge) and are only available as Journal bush bearing turbos.

    The Billet S72-GTS and S75-GTS are exactly the same size as the HKS T51R but the Billet Turbo's are about 20mm shorter than the HKS.

    As Jet-r31 has mentioned the Billet SB70-GTQ and SB70-GTS are absolute animals of turbos. Now they come standard with the Billet GTSR comp cover there is not another 900hp - 950hp turbo on the planet that comes close. HKS T51R KAI, grate turbo but got nothing on the Billet SB70-GTS.

    Got the engine tuned and dynoed 2 months ago, been to the track for 2 days and the only thing I can say is that this is one crazy engine, all that tourque is just amazing on the track, pulls so hard after 3500rpms that i barely ever go below 4th gear.

    i dont know if the scale on the dyno chart is correct cause the car is a beast after just 3500rpms, pulls just so hard i can hear my seats crack

  3. I looked into this a while ago as I was interested to trial a 3076 in place of my 3582 but looking on the garrett site it didnt look possible. Not that the 3076 dwg is particularly clear.

    Would of swapped right over but the comp covers are different.

    Exhaust housings are same, same but machined to suit their different turbines.

    We will often use a GT30R exhaust housing and machine it to suit a GT35R if there is no GT35R housing available as I’m sure most other turbo shops do as well.

    Not all the HKS T04Z have the extended defuser area. I have seen both some with and some without.

    You will find the newer HKS T51R KAI and SPL have a similar defuser area.

    Another cool update is the Billet 76-GTS is available with a T7 billet compressor wheel. The model is called B76-GTS

    GT3076R would be good choice

    But if it was me I could not go past the Billet S56-GT3 with .63 A/R hot side.

    The S56-GT3 specs are pretty dam good

    The S56 compressor wheel has a 56mm inducer and 80mm Major + (ETT).

    Turbine has an exducer of 56.6mm and a major of 65mm and is made of 713C Inconel

    The NEW race cover is standard fitment on all the 70mm to 76mm Billet turbos and all the 66mm to 75mm (ETT) S Series Billet Turbos

    The Big cover in the pic is the Pro DRAG cover. It suits all the Pro DARG turbos from 88mm to 106mm

    Ive given a search through the rb20 thread, and there doesnt seem to be a lot of information in regards to a rb20 hiflow turbo.

    Slide used to sell them, but cant find the old thread with the specifications and power rating...

    Would anyone know the power rating of the rb20 hiflow on a r32 rb20?

    Would the rb20 hiflow be able to reach 200kw atw?

    From what i have gathered;

    rb25 std turbo on r32 = 180-190kw atw~

    rb25 hiflow on r32 = 215-220kw atw~

    Would the rb20 hiflow fall in between at around 200kw atw?

    With the RB20 hiflows it might be a push with the Satge 1 but the Stage 2 & Stage 3 will be able to get you there.

    Stage 1 RB25 hiflow will also be able to do the job.

    That’s the second thread on the Supra forums. There is another thread that has been kicking around with links to it from automotive forums all over the world for about a year now. In the other thread they claim to of invented this so called new technology. LOL.

    The thing is it has been around for eons. Pretty common on heavy industry turbo’s. Nissan even had something similar on the early VG20’s.

    What the guys on the USA Supra forums are doing is modified a twin scroll exhaust housing but it’s not being used in a split pulse application.

    They are putting these turbos on open collector manifolds and simply shutting of half the scroll so all the exhaust gasses have to go through one side of the scroll. Effectively halving the A/R of the exhaust housing. Once the turbo is making adequate boost the second half opens and the turbo goes back to the whole A/R.

    Example: With a 1.00 A/R Exh Hsg, At low rpm it is a .50 A/R Exh Hsg then once the set boost is reached the second half of the scroll is opened to be a 1.00 A/R Exh Hsg.

    This system as been successfully being used in the heavy industry for years so as long as the parts can handle the exhaust temps of a petrol engine there is no reason it can’t work in high performance applications.

  11. Compressor surge.

    Most likely because the turbo was built for a 2.5L not 2L.

    Depending on what compressor wheel has been used and how much meat is left in the inlet snout you may be able to have some port shrouding machinated into the compressor cover.

    If there is not enough meat left in the snout. The snout on the factory compressor cover will need to be machined off and a bigger inlet snout machined up and put in with the port shrouding in it.

    Where are you located?

    Maybe take the turbo back to where you purchased it and see if they can help.

    I’d say they will probably want to charge to do either option since the turbo was for a RB25 but see how you go.

  12. I was recently talking to well known drag racer Jeff Watson about LPG in turbo performance applications. Jeff runs a LPG parts distribution company.

    He was say something about the multi point LPG injectors drawing to much current for the run of the mill after market ECU’s like Microtech, Haltech, Motech and so on to be able to open and close the injectors.

    I pretty sure Jeff and his nephew Ben Diggles are working with Link in NZ to come up with a system that can be used with the LPG injectors.

    I got to talking about it with him because I am interested in doing a similar thing.

    Might be worth a call to Link to find out where its at.

  14. MR Turbo Australia / Billet Turbochargers is a reputable company.

    They have been operating for thirteen years.

    While im sure the GCG hiflows are very good the ball beaing system used in the MR Turbo Australia / Billet Turbochargers hiflows is far more advanced.

    From the feed back I have had the Stage 1 hiflows spool faster than the factory turbos.
