26 covers?
-
Yea its vented to atmosphere,, but before i made the bigger baffled can, it filled the can in 1 lap down the drag strip. a few more laps on the drift track. Its still got 25 covers so if this doesnt work will have to get a set of 26 covers.
-
yea im running brad pen, some decent oil. Is that another line? if theres a breather at the bottom of the catch can wouldnt that just force oil out as it being blown down by the tappet cover?
-
Yea i agree,, that did suck! with the 1mm restrictor what do u reckon would be safe oil pressure at full noise?
-
Hey mate yes is bigger than 2l, it has 2 pipes from top of catch can to the bottom with 2 baffles with only a small gar on the edges of the can so air can pass to the breathers at the top of the can. att hose are -10 braid and go to almost top of the sump. Was maybe exaggerating withthe massive. but after a few corners was enough oil spraying out to coat the intake side with oil. Restricted the front to 1mm and rear is blocked. but it was a 1.25,, so hoping this may make a little difference. find out this weekend when i hit the track. Nah id doesnt empty it, was more of a light mist coming out. just looked bad as everything was soaked in oil. oil levels didnt drop too much tho. Running the aviad external pump. Watched it today on the dyno and at full noise was sitting at 800 kpa, so bout 120 psi. which we thnk is too much. Gunna try wind it down tomorrow morning. Just gunna ring the up and see what ive gotta do. See how we go..

Nope, did the compression test before pulling head off. 160 or close enough to all cylinders. not blowing constantly but on a few of the big longer corners.

Hey guys so as the headline states im still blowing oil out my catch can. So ive done plenty of reading on the oil control page and thought i had most of them covered. Ive got a massive catch can baffled and vented to atmosphere, head drain/breather, can returned to sump and another vent from catch can to top of sump. Thought i had a 1mm restrictor but just puilled the head off to find it was 1.25. So ive tapped a 1mm on top. Just wondering if this will be enough or will the problem re occur. Its a track drift car running on e85, so havent had a chance to run it yet. Just fingers crossed the 1mm will fix it. Also running a aviad external pump setup. Has anyone had experience with these just purely pushing too much oil volume? will no in a couple week but just gettin peoples thoughts. Cheers

Sweet thanks for the info guys, am now thinking 4" dump into 3.5" straight thru with gate to atmosphere. Hopefully get better flow with that
-
Yea its plumbed back in. Itll hold about 21 pound. Ill try venting waste gate to atmosphere see if that works. Its an old wastegate so maybe the spring wont hold that much pressure also

Home built 25/30 neo on e85 435 rwkw @23psi
GTX 3582 1.01 exh
Forged bottom end
Tomei type b poncam
Mild port n polish
ID 1500cc injectors and supporting mods
Greddy wastegate with 3" exhaust
PWR intercooler 3" piping
We cant get any more boost out of it and not too sure where the restriction is. Maybe the cans are too small or the wastegate is holding pressure.. It come on hard 25 pound the bleeds right off to 21 at 7000rpm.
Any thoughts to as why it wont hold boost?
Would like to hold 30 pound and get close to 500 kw

Funny you say that. I should have fit the wheel first cos I just got the bearing today and put the when on and it fouls out on a little bit of the chassis and the brake line mounting. I may have to look at getting different offset wheels to get around it.

Hey will do thanks looks like a good thread
-
Okay thanks for that. Might have to start hacking away at it. What do u reckon binding issues will be?

I've run into some trouble trying to get more lock out of my R34 gtt. Any help would be appreciated!
So I've bought the driftworks geomaster knuckles and offset rack spacer and just installed them. I've had to cut 25mm of the tie rod and tap some more thread on it, also completely cut the original bump stop off but now the tie rod end is hitting the lca and still got a 1/4 steering to go to full lock. How can I get around this?? Any advice would be appreciated

Looks like a nice job mate. Should give you plenty of room. I did the same as Ben and welded a bit extra on the front. Hopefully there's enough room when the 90• goes on
-
Yea sweet, so obviously would that mean I don't have to restrict the external feed?
-
Where is the restrictor?
-
Hey i see it's an old feed, but I'm doing the 25/30 conversion ATM and with regards to the external line to feed vct my 25 block doesn't have a restrictor. So why are people restricting it? I have the neo head also
-
Ah I see.. Well I better keep on searching
-
Oh yea. Pretty hard to come across these things...
Still blowing oil

It’s only sightly overfilled when engine stopped so when running should roughly be sitting on the full mark. Will prob try the second catch cam idea next if the restrictor doesn’t work. Cheers for the input fellas
