Hello, Australian friends...
My name is Jacob Garcia and I live in the Sates but I'm from Colombia, I'm new to the forum, but all my life i've been into Nissans and Infinitis. So much, that this past year I decided to become a Nissan Certified Tech, i've studied at some technical school and I have basic knowledge of general engines, variable valve timing systems, emissions and more... but my focus is on SRs, VKs, VQs, and now RBs, i've always liked 240s, and my 98 drift machine was stolen while studying in Orlando... . I recovered it and I still have the Kazama Arm Links and the Rims. I sold the shell, Ka and tranny and a few things that were left. I never got around to dropping the blacktop SR that I still have but... soon will be done. This project has been detained by many many reasons... and I almost feel like it wasn't meant to be. Patience has tough me 2 do my home work, and read as much as I can before making a heavy $ decision.
I've rebuilt 2 Redtop SRs and "magically they still run" but I honestly don't know how. I've been reading ESMs for Nissan engines now, for about a year and their instructions are my actions, so I guess I'm doing something right. All my friends, come to me for advice, but I'm no wizard and like I said... I do my research before saying some things that I'm uncertain of. I really envy all of you, because you get 2 enjoy these amazing inline 6 vehicles and we don't here in the States. My friend Alex that used to drive a turbo Mazda MX6, bought and 95 R33 GTST from UK with the 25 and imported it to Florida, he's had it for about 3 years now. We used to drive it with my Nissan license plate since both cars were silver, haha but now it's registered. Now he's having oil pressure problems, I figured his pump is bought go, since "his gauge doesn't display the pressure it used to" could I have some advice on this, I want to plug another gauge to the block and see what that one says.
Also, since he only things bigger is better he wants to upgrade his single to a bigger turbo. But i've tried hard to explain to him, that he needs to PM (personal maintenance) whatever is wrong before he continues, am I right? (I kind of want him to read this from experts so he doesn't think I'm not kidding.)
My next questions are… what are some Good or personally recommended distributors for the States (finding parts isnt easy)
Is the N1 oil pump a good choice?
I've heard some about oil delivery problems in the 25 head?
Should I waste my time looking up and calculating his Volumetric Efficiency to choose a good turbo size?
Should he get cams first (even thought I know the cams are the heart of the engine, and they should be chosen based 5 BILLION aspects of the car, even like tire size)
should I just find a turbo kit? Which ones do you recommend?
What else should I look into before swapping his turbo?
Standalone? Can I use a piggy back? What about fuel?
Do I need injectors since his ECU is tuned for 98 Brutal jungle juice rather than the 93 octane we get here?
Or perhaps ignition? I know some people have used MSD coil packs from corvettes?
What should I tell him, to do before he just dumps a load on a turbo, and he ends up blowing it… and blames me for forgetting to change the muli-pluxi-modulator… haha. I really want to expand my knowledge on the RBs, the 25 is what he has… I know the 26 "might" be better but as always better is a matter of opinion. Any advice you wise men from that FAR FAR away island, can give me will be appreciated… if there is anything I could find out for you guys form an Assist Software in a dealership… that I could help you with (which is unlikely) pls don't hesitate to email me or contact me… I'm always in the lookout for Nissan brothers….
Thanx again, and I hope to learn much from this KICK ASS forum
also, i noticed that his TPS is unplugged... as in there are no wires leaving it... ???? does the rb25 not need a TPS signal? his car dosnt have a speed limiter and it has a mph mile gauge... im sure thas only cause its from UK any thoughts?
