  1. Wire identification near rear diff

I recently replaced all the bushes in the rear subframe of my R32 GTR. When re-installing the subframe I found a wire that I couldn't identify - not sure where it plugs back into.

In the pics it's the one I'm holding / is hanging down. Has a sort of red connector to it.

Could it be an old HICAS wire? Where does it go!?

    Cheers

  2. Went to the drags last wednesday night for the skyline night for the yolos last minute just made the last entry,

I knew I wasn't going to get a good time down but just wanted to get the car on the strip again hadn't driven it for a few weeks. Rear tyres were bald as from RW still, and didnt have any gear with me to let the tyres down etc.

Ended up running an 11.0 @ 135mph, Just couldn't get traction off the pad , i was slightly impressed as everything is still setup for track rather than the strip so I didnt even think i would run a low 11. But now ive got Got some new tyres now so hopefully if an opportunity arises I can get down for another crack with some more attempts

    Any updates?

  3. Apart from the problems I have had since the build it goes pretty quick now , very linear. Feels great on corners, no surprises/

It will be interesting to see how a bigger Dump and Cat makes it respond and what it adds to the overall performance :/

Let's not turn yet another thread into a discussion about your car, please.

  4. Was supposed to be ready in May, So not sure what's going on.Havn't had the time to go in and find out. lately due to work, As far as im aware it still only needs fuel pump, fuel reg, and fluids to start..

Went in Saturday, Another 3 weeks is when work recommences on my project. So I imagine it'll only take a week to finish it all up to tuning stage, theres f**k all to be done really. So getting excited

    I can't believe you're still waiting ...

  5. Either way, the only person trying to hide their identity is copthis, a profile made to defame a member who isn't hiding at all and is responding to your allegations. If you had some issue with him do it without hiding behind a fake account and I will have more chance of believing you. There is nothing any of us can do to help you, if you got nowhere with the cops you are out of luck I guess.

Sorry to anyone buying faulty S/H parts, or getting 'ripped' I have been burned many times myself over the years, that's the chance you take not buying new from reputable sellers/shops.

    Shit attitude.

Clearly you're a mate of this bloke. Or he's a customer, whatever, I couldn't give a toss. But I bet if you were scammed by him your tone would be much different.

  6. I've removed my engine from my car and want to put the engine on a stand - only thing is, I can't work out how to get the clutch off the back of the motor!

It's a Nismo twin plate. There are a series of hex bolts around the edge, do I remove those? I'm a bit scared to as it looks like they hold the whole thing together and I'm nervous it's all going to spring apart! I've tried just pulling on it but that doesnt seem to work either, do I need to be more forceful or is there something I am missing?

    I've attached a photo for reference.post-4706-0-02457100-1400899120_thumb.jpg

    Cheers

  7. Well then you should pay $1500 to $2000 for those "Tuned length' pipes shipped from Japan and not ask our opinion. It's not like I know what I am talking about anyway...

I could make better pipes than those for under $500 in stainless, and they wouldn't drag on every speed hump you drive over.

I missed the bit where the OP asked for opinions. I assume he wants tuned length because they sound so much nicer than non-tuned front pipes.

Do you have any examples of your front pipes out of interest Scotty? I could only see these pieces of art in this build thread. The turbo elbow particularly caught my attention.

  8. It's a wet kit John, meaning it also injects fuel.

Where are you planning putting the fogger to ensure even distribution. That's what I would be worried about

The fogger placement I was going to leave to the tuner. I would install the bulk of the system and stop at fogger placement / installation as this is obviously a critical element to the effectiveness (and safety, no doubt) of the overall installation.

Cheers for the responses guys. I made a phone call to a tuner today and he suggested that switching between maps via the Datalogit wouldn't be the way to go - I didnt query why though. Not sure then if I should consider upgrading the ECU to something along the lines of what jonnilicte suggested - something with an AUX port such as a Link G4 or Vipec. Bummer!

  9. Hi all

A couple of mates bought me a NOS branded nitrous kit (it's a "Sniper" wet kit, with 1 fogger) for my birthday (lucky me! :D ).

It looks pretty simple to install.

What I can't get my head around, and I've done a fair bit of searching and reading around on the net for this but still can't find an answer, is how is the tuning done?

    1. From my research it looks as though the timing needs to be retarded during the period for which the nitrous is being injected.
    2. How does the PowerFC (or any ECU for that matter) know when the nitrous is being injected into the mixture? For example:

    a) 1 run at the drags I run with nitrous, the ECU somehow injects it during a certain range of revs and retards the timing at the same time.

    b) Next run, I turn the NOS off. Presumably during that same rev range the timing will be retarded which I guess is a loss in power? So 99% of the time (i.e. when I'm not using NOS) I will have less power through that rev range? So does that mean I need multiple maps?

    3. Do I need a NOS controller so I can program the rev range for which I want the NOS injected? I'm only looking for more mid-range torque/power, not top end power.

    4. Are there ECU's available (Vipec perhaps?) that have inbuilt nitrous control to avoid having to get a separate NOS controller if using my PowerFC?

Thanks for any advice! I'm totally new to NOS and really don't understand the tuning side of things.

High level mods are: GT35R, stock bottom end, running on E85 full time.

  10. Well the car is advertised for sale on their website, they can't expect people not to look at it / discuss it:

    http://www.uniquemotors.com.au/stock/1996-nissan-skyline-gtr-3250/

All their cars have the VIN displayed on the website, would be interesting to see what the rest of their stock is like.
