  1. You're buying an expensive car, so...

    1. Find some reputable performance workshops nearby the the cars location, call them up and ask if they'd do a pre-purchase inspection for you.

    2. Ask the seller if you can take the car for a pre-purchase inspection, if they say no. Walk away, it's not the car you want.

    3. FLY up there, we're not talking about a $3000 R32 GTST, spend $500 on a weekend trip to go see the car in person... Drive it, get the pre purchase inspection done.

    4. Once happy, go into your bank and get a bank cheque drawn up (make sure they're open on the days your planning on buying)

    5. Make sure all the paperwork is in order before you leave, you don't want to be missing an interstate signature.

    6. Deliver the car yourself to the car transport place. Taking plenty of pictures of the car out the front of the facility, to prove any damage that could be caused.

    7. Hire security guards if it is going to be travelling through NSW at all... I hear they've got a problem with non-34R owners getting jealous.

    Hahahahhahahah

  2. get a video

GoPro video as soon as I get some free time ;)

Love the level of stealth. What are the odds of that braided hose eating through the bellhousing over time? If you can't tell I'm paranoid when braid touches stuff.

Also can you not put your boost controller under the dash. So where your left knee is right next to the steering wheel. It's not in 100% view however you can look at it when you need to and cops still can't see it.

Cheers mate! That pic was taken when we were still finalising lines but every line (including braided lines) are all wrapped up in heatproof wrap and brackets amde to secure the whole lot so very little movement :)

Ahhh good idea! I actually didn't think of that. I'll try that out tonight and see how easily it can be viewed from that location. Thanks mate!

  3. man thats proper stealth. bit i bet those screamers are not very subtle lol.

would be interested to see all the piping behind the plastic.

Haha nah, screamers are far from subtle when on full noise but with the two turbos, the exhaust note is a lot quieter now. The note is somewhat "beefier" and less raspy than previouslym. Very happy with how the whole thing panned out.

I'll try get a pic without the front bar and plastics off sometime soon so you can see the piping in all its glory lol

  4. And the car has been back in my posession since last Friday and I am stoked! TOTALLY fallen in love with the car again! Car pulls like a train without any noticeable lag and doesn't hesitate to light them up when you give it some curry.

I'm still getting used to the new clutch, as it's pretty heavy and doesn't really allow you to slip or ride it. Basically on or off. Coupled with the diff and cam that's in there now, anything less than ~1700rpm and you can feel it buck and can tell it's not happy at those speeds. Doesn't really bother me at all, gives the car a more "raw" feel that I've been longing for since I moved away from the R33. Bit of a learning curve, especially from hill starts. Low-speed roundabouts requries clutch in and blip of throttle before engaging gear but overall, I'm extremely stoked with the manual conversion and the TT :D

View of the Turbosmart 38mm external gates with twin screamers before it all went back together :D

Still waiting for a radiator cover panel to finish it off, but pretty much 99% there.

    IMG_4332.jpg

    IMG_4334.jpg

Turbosmart Kompact Dual Port BOV hidden inside the gutted airbox. Still waiting on another trumpet to replace the plumback port to make it a Megasonic. Keen eyed observers will notice the MAF has been gutted and is just a shell, since we're running MAP, only needed the MAF body for the full stealth look :)

    IMG_4335.jpg

Overflow tank and catch can. I might fab up a small shield to hide the filter, but from the pic, you can see the overflow tank and 90% of the catch can is hidden under the intake resonators.

Full manual conversion done witht he ripshifter in there. Love it. Boost controller is mounted on the lower side of the dash, near where your left leg would rest. I'm looking to move this somewhere where it's in the line of sight. Was thinking on top of the steering column but I dummied it up and it didn't fit :( Anyone have any ideas?

  5. some serious work. new bonnet looks leagues better than before, top choice

thing was/is going to be a monster. cant wait to here it with the manual.

Thanks mate! Hits the rollers tomorrow so fingers crossed I get her back over the next day or so :D

do they put little pod filters on those?!

Yeah, we'll be using the K&N short-stack pod filter :)

Love the stealth location of them turbos...

I'd imagine you'd run pipes to the front bumper? pods that low would get destroy by rocks and shit

That was the original plan but being GT3076Rs in 56T, there's absolutley no room to run pipes without going to rubber pipes. Tuner is hesitant to use the rubber pipes as in the past they've sucked shut on full noise.

PM the moderators and have them do it for you if asked nicely?

    Cheers!

  6. Firstly, the minor things. Installed and programmed E1 HSV dash cluster and HSV flat-bottom steering wheel (soz, no pics of this sintalled yet). The HSV logo on the face is a bit dicky for me, so looking at getting a new face overlay.

And now the major part that's been in the works. Started with these:

UPDATE: Car went into the mechanics/tuner yesterday morning to begin taking the blower off and start fabbing and installing the twin turbo setup.

PLOT TWIST: Car is also getting converted from the standard auto 6-speed to a 6-speed manual at the same time as the TT.

Got a few pics of the parts I picked up in the past week. Tuner/mechanic has got the rest such as Turbosmart 40mm external wastegates, intercooler, BOV etc.

Ripshift. Everyone says a ripshift is the bees kness in a manual commo, so figured I might as well get one so that it can get dropped in at the same timed as the box going in:

    IMG_4029.jpg

Turbosmart E-Boost Street. Originally had my heart set on the E-Boost 2 as I was wrapt with the series 1 E-Boost in my R33, but the more I read into it, the more I noticed that alot of the features I wasn't going to use. So it made sense to go the Street as it had eveyrhting I wanted.

And I also went on a memorial crusie for a very close mate of mine that passed away recently. Cheers to AL Photography for the pics! Keen to get a photoshoot done with him as soon as I get my car back :D

Popped down to MPW last night to have a bit of gander at progress. Everything on track and looks exactly how I envisioned it, so cheers to Adam and the boys there for getting it how I want. Fingers crossed she's all done either later this week or early next week.

Turbos all mounted up and good to go. Just need oil/water lines and external gates to be chucked in

    IMG_4199.jpg

    IMG_4200.jpg

Bar and plate 'cooler sitting somwhere behind the front bar. Stealth, just how I like it

    IMG_4202.jpg

    IMG_4204.jpg

Here you can see the cold side intercooler piping that leads to the throttle body going through the gutted airbox

    IMG_4206.jpg

And this is how she looks under the bonnet. Still need to get the radiator cover panel and change the blue silicone to black.

  7. Nicely done

Ps: Your old cars still looked after the way you had it. Just now it's got a bigger fuel system, built motor and turbo haha. Never ends.

Thanks mate! Ahhhh so glad to hear! Would love to catch up sometime and see how things have progressed :)

Just realised I haven't updated this thread in ages soooooooo, brace yourself for Twin Turbo V8 goodness. I'll start back from when the saga began :)

  8. Need two secure points for the bonnet if you ever do any track days

Sorry for the noob question but what does that mean? I've got 2 bonnet pins on either side of the bonnet, but that's not what you mean is it? lol

  9. im keeping my stock latch + flat bonnet pins just for safety.

read something the other day of someone in Aus, those black flat bonnet pins stripped the thread on a racetrack straight, bonnet flew up and bent the roof

Hmmm true true, but it's jsut a pain in the ass to have to unlock the pins, then pull the bonnet latch. Was hoping to remove catch all together so it's just a straight process of undoing pins. Not wanting to get defected for it though so thought 'd see if anyone has any info regarding

  10. Then I think your charger isn't running high enough boost

Assuming same torque at same RPM, all the turbo really does is roll on the same torque progressively

Running on 11psi at the moment with the blower but just doesn't make me go "whoa" anymore.

    Too much money would be

Hey guys I have a few 2016 GTRs that I don't need anymore, will pay you $50 to come take them away along with their respective Alpha kits

    LOL!

  11. T.D you got too much money mang :P

I wish! We all know there's no such thing as too much money :(

Besides, if I had "too much money", my opening line would've been "Hey, do I want a 2015 or 2016 R35 GTR to drop my Alpha 16 package into?"

  12. Why don't you supercharger guys just use 1/8th throttle and roll it on progressively faster if you miss the turbocharger feel

Cos it would still only feel like a small frame turbo at full boost i.e no kick in the dick we all love from a decent sized snail

  13. Should've advertised the blower here... I probably would've bought it

I kinda did in my build thread LOL I mentioned it cos I was still thinking about it at that stage and then after thought "f**k it, I'm going turbs now"

but yes... pls run 15psi on e85

    PLS

    !

Don't push me, I'll do it!

Don't need much boost dat dere v8s

Sif sell the blower! although I do understand that you want that 'lol here comes the power' moment back. instead of having power everywhere which gets 'boring?' sometimes.

Yep, that's exactly it! Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the instant N/A like torque curve of the blower but nowehere near as much as I enjoyed the winding up before the massive spike in torque that a turbo delivers.

And becaue of that, I got bored of the charger and thought it was too slow lol

  14. two TD06 turbo's made 500kw on e85 in Cat's car, at only 6-8 psi I think (gate pressure.) These are larger.

Awwww YEEAAAHHHHH!!! I'm confident now my goal is relaistic, but even more confident my transmission will blow up. Meh

  15. Pretty confident both would make your goal easily, on around 6psi most likely. ;)

Sweet! But is there a spool difference between 52 and 56? (Like that's even a legitiment concern on a V8 LOL)

Only 6psi?! I was hoping to run about 15psi on E85 LOL

  16. waaaaahhhht

dont like the supercharger? whats re-sale on something like that... shiiiet

I LOVE the supercharger! Very snappy and loads of fun. But I got over it and want to get back behind a turbo (two of them at least anyway).

Don't wanna discuss price but the buyer is gettting A LOT of bang for buck.

Put it this way: I chucked it up for sale on a couple Facey buy/sell pages and had 4 calls regarding it within 24 hours (2 were interstate, where 1 was prepared to drive down from NSW to pickup that weekend if I could get the blower off in time).

  17. i'm going to take a wild stab that the 56T is larger

seriously doe, speak to Tao from hypergear and ask him about it.

He recently made 2 custom turbo's for Cat's LS1TT that makes huge power and they are right on the money

Cheers mate, I heard the 56T was larger too but not sure in what regards though? Is it to do with the impeller?

Also, if I'm not running Garretts, my tuner has reccomended Turbonetics. Haven't heard much about Turbonetics on SAU so thoughts?

  18. Hey guys, what's the difference between the 52T and 56T for the Garrett GT3076R? I'm looking at running two of them for my TT setup on zee 6L but Commodore blokes are useless with turbos.

Aiming for the 500rwkw mark if that's any help?
