yeh Ad's, im gonna do a private day in dec for my bday, so if ure keen to bring ure car or just passenger in cars all day....lol, canon is going strong!!

Haha, yeh thats it. The 25 n ls1 are nearly the same power, but yeh, the V8 has my vote for good fun, just needs to rev harder. Makes power to 5700rpm, but revs to 6400 lol. You can hear the leveling of the power when im going around turn 1. No biggie though, ile learn how to drive first, that was my first practice ever......8 laps lol and drift school, about 3 hrs in the car all up. I just cant wait for the next day......

Cheers guys. HAHA 31 pimp, classic!! Yeh it is slightly lighter all up. But suprisingly its awesome to drive, very throttle controlable which i love, not a shitload of steering coz so far i have done alot with the right foot lol....just love the torque of it

Ah ok. Yeah we are the same when it comes to all the tests. You have to have papers and reports on EVERYTHING when you go for your inspection. I have a whole folder in my car that i have to carry around with me at all times for the police haha.
Yeh my mate said it wouldnt be easy but its do-able.... But like you said $$$$$. In total over here, it will be about 4k for papers, compared to 2k for the RB, not to mention RB's being a hell of alot cheaper. The set up i have will be fine apparently, the only thing is the clutch bleeder location.....a hole in the passenger side tunnel with an extension to bleed LOL

You aren't from Vic - So unfortunately what you can do in your state has no bearing on this topic at all.
So as i said earlier, I'm very confident you'll never get a ~300kw LS1 registered into a R31 (factory of what, 140kw) in Vic which was the conversation being had.
Sorry forgot this was a Vis topic. WOW i though SA was the toughest with engineering! But they are actually about 245fwkw, S2 VY n VZ SS, not being a smart arse, and put out the same torque as my 25 got approved with.
How do you guys go about engineering? Do you have to under go seperate tests at a certain price per test? Chassis strength tests, lane changing tests, braking tests?

It's an interesting idea but probably worth doing a fair bit of research and running some figures before getting stuck into it. It'll most likely cost X times as much and take Y times as long as you originally budgeted for...

Which VASS was it that said they would approve a 5.7ltr V8 into a 1300kg R31?
Not sure what a VASS is.....Pretty sure you can get anything engineered, its just how much your willing to put down. I got my 25 done very easily, just people are not willing to spend 2-3k on a shitty r31....but i like mine.

Mine finished and being thrashed as we speak lol. Yeh a mate who is an engineer said he can approve it for me, basically the same as my 25det went through for engineering...

Sorry for the belated reply....Actually forgot i had this thread!! It was a little expensive, but the main cost was the motor and box....hard to find a manual!

Nope. made the mounts so it sits about10mm away from swaybar and crossmember. Was actually suprised how well it went in

thanks guys. Yeh anthony wired it up for me. I think he's hanging out to drive it just as much as me lol. Was meant to make it on their private day back in dec, but had a faulty relay to the left bank n we just didnt pick up on it. Yeh, should be fun for a 31 haha

Hey guys. Got 2 R31's this is my track car build. Long story short
Built a R31 which the family has had since it was 6 months old with a 25DET in it, people said i was nuts to trash it on the track cos its neat, so i got it engineered instead also has JIC coilovers all round. Now runs with 18" work meshies on

So then i wanted something different instead of a 25 or 26 so went LS1. Nothing to hard, got the car in October finished it in december lol. Did the engine mounts n gearbox xmember myself fitted all the gear to basically get it there, suspension n brakes. Wanted to get it done for a jaustech private day on december 23rd. unfortunately it didnt make it due to a faulkty relay but we didnt pick it up. Anthony from jaustech had it wired n running in a day lol. So yeh, this is my 2 month build

Just putting pwr str back on atm. Had to take it off due to hitting the starter motor, but have figured out a solution.....i hope!!
Made 245atw on a mainline. Mafless tune n edit, full with 2 3/4 exhaust with a canon on the back lol

. yeh i have exactly the same clearance with my sump and k frame. How did you go with the steering and starter motor? Any fouling issues? I had trouble with the uni joint on the shaft hitting and binding on the starter motor....
