Hi guys - I've got my very loved R33 for sale - silver - will post pics if there is any interest. I'll start with the story... I've owned her for 7 years and have used solely for a commuter. She's not hotted up in any way really - and has been well looked after. Oil change every 5k to 7k religiously... Same mechanic has looked after her since day one. BUT I've just had word that I need about $3k in repairs to get her back to tip top. Explanation further...
Recent repairs:
New AFM
New Shocks
New Steering all round (the works done here)
Gates Racing 100k service kit - done about 3 months ago - inc water pump etc - the whole lot done
Injectors taken out and cleaned about 3 months ago as well
Oil change to the gear box and diff about 12 months ago
Iridium Sparkies just done
New brakes on the front
New arial motor (reco)
Battery about 12 months old - closed cell (only mention because it was expensive)
Problems Mechanical:
Rocker Cover gasket needs doing
Tyres need changing
Power steering pump has a whine
Clutch has a whine
Problems appearance:
Needs a new front spoiler - it's ok but looks ratty
Got keyed down the right hand side from back to front (worst of it ends at the drivers door)
Dints on the bonnet and the passenger door (just small ones but they are noticeable)
Tear in the drivers seat - about 10cm long
Power mirror button doesn't work anymore
That's about it - I haven't taken pics of her because I'm really not sure if anyone will be interested - and I can trade her in if it comes down to that - but I'd prefer her to go to someone who actually gives a crap about her.
PM if you're interested please and if I get responses I'll take pics.
Oh, price: I'd like to get about $5k because I've spent more than that in the last 18 months. Negotiable though.

AFM was the key - had her first big run today and she purred like a kitten the whole way. Another interesting thing, not sure if related - I just got 540km's out of a tank for the first time in about 4 years. thanks to everyone who posted on this blog. pi$$ed i wasted so much cash with useless mechanics but at least she's fixed now. thanks again

You guys are awesome. I don't post much but I'm always on here reading etc. I love my car. I've just spent more than $1,000 with 2 mechanics trying to fix this same exact problem - they've cleaned injectors, drained fuel tank, replaced fuel filters, change plugs, tuned it, cleaned throttle body cover (all of which I could do myself but with the major problem went straight to a mechanic.... stupid stupid stupid...) I'm ordering a new AFM today. I'll post again with results. Thank you again guys. Hurf

Hi SK
I've had a 33 for a couple years now and everything i've had to do to my car, i've been able to figure out from your posts. I'm sure you hear it a lot but just wanted to say thanks for the knowledge - you make dumb a$$e$ like me be able to work on their cars.
cheers mate

OK guys, for the benefit of the board...
I went to my mechanic who explained to me they removed the Xenon lights during compliance and replaced them with standard halogen H1 globes (hence the engraving). So my car has H1 low beam and H1 high beam which I'd imagine most R34's would have.
A basic one of these costs $8 from Repco. If I want to go Narva Arctic Blue (i.e. a whiter light), it's $45 a pair or $25 each. Repco Oakleigh only sell Narva and don't stock Philips/Osram.
A search around the forum told me that Narva ones are hit and miss and I should really go Philips. Philips Vision Plus (+50%) are $30 + $8 post on eBay for what looks to be a Chinese or Jap market product but claims to be the genuine article.
I'd rather just go to an Autobarn to Supercheap and pick one up at lunch, even if it costs an extra $10-$20, but there aren't any in my area.
Changing them is pretty easy. Unscrew the rear cap, press together the two metal prongs holding in the lamp, unplug and replug. Ensure not to touch the globe otherwise the oily fingerprint will burn onto the globe.
mate just wanted to pass on my thanks for all your posts - i've had the exact same issue for the last few weeks and had been putting off sorting it out. after reading through everything here i went out - bought a replacement at $18 from repco on sale... and installed in about 5 minutes. too easy... i'd read another post about using Meguires Plastic Polish (for motorcycles) and just finished cleaning up all the yellow sh*t off my lights... saturday very well spent.
thanks again

g'day lads
i'm new to the site - been on skylineowners.com for a year or so tho... i drive a 96 33 - silver - skyline rims - very standard but i love her all the same... hoping to bomb her piece by piece (so far only had the $ to add a hiflo and a timer... intercooler next) - so most of you would blow mine off the road
i'm bris based 3/4 days a week - then rural the other (kingaroy)... any idea when the next club meet is?
also i'm chasing a new ignition coil harness and timing belt - does anyone have any idea where i can get these on a budet??
cheers for the help
