  1. All thats different is the bonnet, lights, grille and filler panel, and the bonnet catch support

I'll continue to enjoy driving mine

I do have a Tekamon bonnet, lights, filler panel spare atm, plus a set of guards

Hey, if you have the takemon bits spare, would you be interested in selling them?

I have an MR30, and want a takemon front end. are the gaurds any diferent to MR30?

  2. Tried Nissmaz or Niswreck yet?

I know Nissmaz had a couple of R30's there a few months ago because I got some bits off them.

Glynde Auto Wreckers also had an R30

Cheers for the tips, havent tried them yet, im sort of thinking about leaving my car auto for now, and saving up for another one.

  3. The PN bits going into the hatch is just the turbo induction/exhaust systems, and ECU & loom. I have bought a T3 off an FJ20DET that's also going on in place of the L20ET turbo, as the exhaust housing is nearly double the size. The induction system already has some type of adjustable boost valve in it that will be transferred.

It will then become an L24ET all legit, engineered etc, and full Ti spec, incl 2 way power sunroof.

In addition, 40mm lowered 200 lb/in custom (Jumboz) rear springs, 50mm lowered

240/250 lb/in custom (Jumboz) front springs, 24mm (Selby/Whiteline) front sway bar, new adjustable Koni's all round. Probably include Z32 front seats with all electric, fully adjustable driver's seat, /, /, <, >, /. Short shifter (throw length 20mm shorter) 2.5 inch exhaust system. SAAS sports steering wheel, imported Hot Plate tail lights

The package will include a type 1 BOV, but won't be fitted. It will be on the market registered for about $4000.00. Will be sold with current dyno graphs, spare tail gate/hatch, and some other spares. No intercooler! but I expect it to have about 140/150Kw

Colour: Red with grey interior, they never came this way in Oz, were all red with brown interior.

Hmmm. import taillights. i like the sounds of that car. How hard do you think it would be to get that registered in SA? would it just be a straight forward rego swap? NSW to SA? how far from completion is it? im looking at buying another car around June-July (Tax return). please keep me informed about the hatch because im interested.

Is the hatch the same wheelbase as the Sedan? would it weight much more?

Whats happening to your Paul Newman skyline?

Ohh. and will the hatch have an LSD?

What condition is the body in?

  4. You got me lost now, have never done the Auto to Manual conversion, but I think the manual crossmember is different but mounts to same position, would normally come with gearbox I would think, particularly if stating for conversion purposes. Driveshafts, not sure would have to check, but I have about 3 or 4 & diffs all same, R180 3.9:1 open type.

Clutch is hydraulic & handbrake cables are required as well.

Your right about wreckers in SA, I found 1, River Murray Auto Wreckers at Barniera SA, 8588 2445, online at www.partslocator.com.au and they have an 83 auto hatch, is this same place you found?

MR30's are a dime a dozen up here in Sydney, just let me know what you need and I will organise to get it for a small labour fee. I have a few older retired type mates that are more than keen to help, for a little top up to their pensions. One changed a water pump on an N13 pulsar the other day for a friend, and his labour was $30.00. helps pay for their smokes etc. very reasonable deal, I think.

    Cheers,

Nah, i found a link on a datsun site, www.grandautowreckers.com they had something saying that they were wrecking r30's. i wrote to them, they replied saying that they do have a manual. I tried to get more info, and they havent replied. I like youre idea, and i have no problems with paying your mate's some labour. Although, im now thinking that it might be a better idea, if i buy a complete car (Manual) and do the conversion as straight swap. then i can see what needs to be done, and will have all the necicary parts on hand.

You said that you are planning on putting the Paul Newman bits into your hatch, what are your plans for the wagon when your done? what happened to the PNV?

  5. Are you aware that the 2 x 90 degree bends and subsequently the exhaust outlet being on the driver's side, is a result of Australian only, bureaucratic bullshit about protecting the pedestrian from exhaust emissions.

The Japanese car had the exhaust outlet on the left, directly out from the silencer.

GODDAMMED BURECRATIC POLITICAL CRAP!!! they have ruined the Aussie R30's Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!.....ohh well, what side is the exhaust manufod on an RB20DET? im considering a conversion in the near future. Maybe just buy a jap imported DR30 or something.

  6. yeah mick, with the exhaust i got rid of those 2 90degree turns and had a new cut out of the left hand side, and still looks good. I  did not get extractors just 2 1/2 " throughout. There was a noticable power increase and there  is a higher top speed.

Thanks to everyone for your corrections, I will update the website pretty soon. Feel free to keep commenting.

    Cheers

    Josh

Hmmm............ IM not to sure about cuting a new hole, id prefer the exhaust to still exit through the original cut out, cos i think having the cutout there, but no exhaust would look a bit odd.

  7. And remember when you cut the hole in the top of the airbox, your gunna suck in sh!t loads of HOT engine bay air. Great for performance as heat KILLS HP.

Yeah, i forgot to mention that i still have the cold air induction. Still even though the extra air is under bonnet air, the origional cold air snorkel is hell restrictive. and it did make an improvement. Anyhow, there is pretty good airflow getting in from under the headlight, this would keep inlet temps down.

  8. Don't they WRECK them in Adelaide?????

If you want I could organise a gearbox & I have a pedal box spare.

All the ancilliary bits would come from the gearbox source.

    Cheers!  :ghost:

Found one Datsun wrecker in Adelaide on the Net, they said that they had them, tried contacting them, but got no reply.

Would i need to change the gearbox crossmember and drive shaft too? is the clutch hydraulic or cable? and what about diff ratio's?

Do you have, or could you get a rear disk set up? just the lower control arms, disks and calipers of an aussie hatch would be good.

Might have to get in touch regarding the gearbox.

    Cheers, Mick.

  9. ohh yeah,

Josh, how much of an improvement was the exhaust? Do you still have the dodgy right angle bit at the back?

I m planning on getting exhaust and extractors done soon and want to know how good they are. Do you think it would work if i had the exhaust cross diagonaly accross the car, so it can exit at the cutout, but without the 90 degree bend? If anyone has done this, please let me know

    Cheers again, Mick.

  10. Hey Josh,

I dont know of any R30's that had a live axel rear end, they were all made in Japan.and L24's have been around since the 60's i think, in 240z and 240c's.

Ohh yeah, you want yours to go better, cut a big hole in the top of your airbox. makes a notable improvement, and sounds totaly nuts....hmmmm.induction noises.

Ohh yeah, can anyone tell me what sort of diff is standard in the MR30 Ti? mine seems to spin both wheels sometimes, but mostly only single spinners. non LSD diffs can still spin both wheels in conditions cant they?

And does anyone know of the Paul Newman for sale at the moment, i saw it in the trading post, and i want to know more about it.

Also, if anyone has a manual MR30 that they re wrecking, i want a manual box, and all the gear necicary for a conversion from auto (Pedal assy. etc.) and a disk brake rear out of a hatch.

    Cheers, Mick.

  11. ']well im assuming its off an R31 coz it looks like R31 type lips ive seen on pics of R31s about the internet! kinda like the one off GTS-R's n stuff. like the one that lowers itself as u speed up on 31s, except mine is just a rubber lip and is fixed in place with about 20 screws along the underside!! it came on the car. duno if it is 31 lip or properly meant for 30. looks similar to the 31 ones though. i cant attach a front pic of my car coz its too large

The R31 lip that lowers itself is on the HR31 GTT and GTX (Are they the right models? or is it GTS and GTX?) Anyhow, the GTS-R has a rubber lower lip, maybe that is what you have on yours?

  12. You looking at the C-Red one?  Getting that through Regency would be a pain in the arse because a lot of that stuff would have to come off before the numbers check, otherwise they'd send it over the pits

    I'll sell you a Tekamon 2 door for 12 :(

What is your takemon 2 door? I want to know more, as i am looking for one now.

Yeah, i was looking at the C-Red one. I think all of their cars come with rego? anyhow, i emailed them asking for info, but they havent written back. Tell me more about your DR, I live in Whyalla, so i would prefer to buy from the same state. As youree in Adelaide, i dont have to travel so far.

  13. Hey all, interesting thing happened to me the other day. I was just driving along kind off sensibaly (Kind off), when all of a sudden, my car was making a horrible grinding noise from under the bonnet. Very soon after (I pulled over as soon as i could) it had overheated.

The problem turned out to be the water pump, the drive shaft had sheared in three places.

Just thaught that it was kind of odd, breaking in thee places.

Anyhow, if anyone has, or knows of a DR30 for sale, i am interseted.

Also, what is the going price for one in good nick, with some mods?

I have possibly found one for $13000, it had a bunch off trust gear, (BIG turbo, dont remember what model) front mount intercooler, three inch exhaust 50mm wastegate etc.) Also coilovers, and it is an ironmask. and four door. Build is '85'.

Unsure of km's, waiting on more info.

    Is $13000 exxesive?

    Any help apprecciated, Mick.

Ohh yeah, if anyone has a non injected skyline (L series motor) I have an injected heead, complete with ECU) if your interested let me know. (Also a auto trans (out of Aussie R30))

    Cheers again, Mick.

  14. Hey all, has anyone in here modified their Aussie R30?

Im planning on getting extractors and a custom 2 1/2 inch. exhaust made soon.

has anyone done this? if so, how much difference did it make?

I already have a K&N panel filter in a modified air box. Also, does anyone have a manual R30 that they want to sell chaep?

I just want the necicary parts to convert my auto to manual.

and, does anyone have a R30 wagon that they are wrecking? I want the disc brake rear.

And finaly, i want some Jap spec taillights, anyone have any for sale?

  15. As a matter of interest! does anyone know the differences of L series 6 cylinder engines?

Is their hieghts the same or does it increase as the capacity increases?

How far can the L20 be stretched etc, etc.

hey, i think you would find that information on one of the "Z car" websites. The yanks are really into the big "L" series motors. L28.

anyhow, my dad found a really interesting program on the net. it showed what could be done, by mixing the parts from all of the "L" seies motors. (Showed, bore, stroke, compression etc.)

Ill find it and make an attachment soon.

  16. L24E ECU's play a very important part in our ecological status these days.

    They make VERY GOOD LANDFIL!!!!!

Jap Hot Plate tail lights are RARE, try SSS Automotive or Just Jap, or Option 1 etc, try all the importers, PARTS IMPORTERS that is.

All I suggest, I keeping my spare set, or hang on, what you got now?

You got Genuine 84/5 Aussie Tail Lights?????

Let me know if you have.

Yeah, i got a set of 84 Aussie tailights, they are on my car, i also have a single one, right hand side (I think) from a wreck. I gotta get some jap spec lights

  17. hey all.

I want jap spec tailights for my R30. does anyone want to sell some, or can tell me where to get them.

Also, what is the door lock timer under the drivers seat of Aussie Ti skylines?

I wanna know what it does, also i have a spare one out of a wreck.

and if anyone wants a L24E ecu. i have a spare one of those also. plus an auto trans.

  18. 1984 Paul Newman HR30 4 SALE!

    L20ET motor re-comditoned approx. 7000km ago

    Triple hybrid turbo

    Mild cam grind

3 inch exhaust and dump pipe

2litre Toyota supra intercooler, harness, boost controller and koni special front shockers. (Not Installed)

Very rare! Only 3 registered in Aus!

    $5500 not neg.

This car still for sale? Is it Manual, how many K's and what sort of condition is it in?

and what the hell is a "triple Hybrid turbo"?

I am willing to travel to Adelaide if the car is worth it.

  19. Also I recently stuffed my L24E, racing VN commodore, i was winning up to about 180kph and then it died. Pulled the head off and no 1&2 pistons and cylinders are shagged, starved for oil i think.

Anyhow, if anybody has any L series motor, or perhaps even a RB30 that runs. If you are willing to sell it please let me know.

    Cheers, Mick.

  20. hey all, who was asking about the L24E ECU?

I cant remember where, but i read that they are not very flexible, even as much as a lumpy cam effects some vacum signal, the ecu cant compensate for this and the engine wont idle properly.

    Thats what i heard anyway.

Seriously the first mod anyone with a L24E should do is to cut a hole a in the airbox lid, it will make it sound totaly sweet, and it goes a little better too.

  21. hey all, i just stuffed the L24E motor in my Aussie MR30. Im looking either for a complete R30 for sale (any model), converting mine to RB20DET. Or perhaps selling mine.

If anyone is interested it is Ti model, electric windows, cushy seats etc. No rust. straight body and two tone paint, dark metalic blue top and silver bottom. obviusly with a dead motor.
