  1. hey guys i've finally got everything set to go & now i'm faced with the inspection. who should i use, where should i go? any help would be great as the main mechanics i know don't really delve into the nissan end of the scale. heard both good & bad things about the nrma but figured you guys & girls could possibly help me out with who to choose & use? thanks.

  2. Well you can't blame me for trying.. but yes 3 hours is devistating and boring.. but its not just to drive a skyline, i see my brother, i have fun with him. to me it's not just about skyline and whoosh.. it's a bonus.. plus i don't have to go, but i choose to.. this solution will work for most of you. also there is nothing wrong with owning a skyline at this age? br3tt saved up and bought it for himself?

there's nothing wrong with wanting a skyline for your first car. i saved up & am buying mine. at first yes, i wanted the turbo but for now atleast. the n/a is fine. i've driven a turbo a couple of times. yeah it has power but when do you ever get to use it? especially on your p's. the best you can hope for is a little lag just before you have to brake & slow down unless the cops are around. that simple little letter on the front & back of your car is like a white hood at a rap concert.

  3. Hey guys.

Just did a quote on JUSTCAR and got $4711 for comprehensive!!

For gods sake what the hell !!

How much does your's cost and where from!

    MRXTCZ

got a quote with nrma just to see "how bad" it was.

19, no offences, accidents etc r34gt $11463 per year hahaha. when you look at the other companies after that they don't seem so bad =P

  4. currently with Just cars 3rd party fire and theft only. $600 something

changing to Shannon's in November $1376 a year for $12000. excess wasn't much.

with Shannon's i was told the car needs to be in a lock up garage when at home address

and because my bad driving history was more then 5yrs ago im all sweet. So nothing

to worry about or no extra charges.

Oh yeh and thats on a partially driven car rate.

i was told to add 6-700 ontop if it was a daily driver.

im 25 on full license and located at Doonside.

Goodluck with it,atleast get 3rd party.

+ a Thumbs up to the dude at Shannon's. :D

    i'm from doonside too ^^

although just car quorted me not too far off the OP. it sucks.

  5. Hasn't anyone on this forum bought a car from us yet?

We've only been in the business 10 years, comply 17 different models, and give each and every customer our total love and devotion....can you ask for anything more?

No, but seriously....do we smell or something?

Free beers (up to 6) for the next SAU customer who buys a car from me.

    -david

i'm currently in negotiations of buying from these guys being my first car & interstae i've had a few questions but they've been more than helpful about it all & i'm looking forward to the inspection & hopefully purchasing the car. hats off to you guys, i've been to a few car dealerships both in person & talked to & your customer service has been #1 by a mile.

  6. State Roads They are a great company and do a extremely thorough report check out this thread "Don't Buy This 1993 GTS-T" Because I got them to check it out they saved me from buy a lemon even after I test drove it, an inspection costs $260 but it was the best $260 i had ever spent and they specialize in interstate as well, they wont really talk to the seller and only give you a copy of the report (Email)

thanks heaps man, i just read your gtst thread. phew that was lucky ah? haha. i looked them up, definately go with the, & the consensus with other members seems to all be good. was a little nervous about who to get to take a look but they seem like they should do a good job lol. thanks again.

  7. hey guys,

i'm from nsw but am looking to buy a car in melbourne. it's at carizma & i was just wondering who the vic version of i guess the nrma or a qulaified person to look over the car is in that area as i don't really wanna go all the way down there & have to check it all myself. yes i will check it but i'd prefer someone of expertise in the area to give it the once over before i come down.

  8. Hey Dean, there's one thing you should know...this is for your sake.

A GTR badge belongs only on a GTR doesn't matter how good your car looks or how powerful it is.

It will never be a GTR, so why would you even bother trying to decieve people to think it is?

    It just isn't right

    i was being sarcastic?

i plan to shave it all but the gt badges lol. hence the - before a typed GTR badges up top. it's an n/a skyline, power is hardly on the cards to begin with & as for looks. the kit is all i want. don't like the gt stock kit at all. impul is growing on me.

  9. if you pay 6k for insurance it must be said your a goose lol..

Buy something cheap and economical and wait till ur off ur Ps

    or..

Insure the car under ur parents name and pay a higher excess if you smash it so on so forth!

Negative about this is your rating will not move!

decidied to put it through for parents for atleast the first year probably will go through them for the first two. for pretty much $1k. then put it in mine once more experienced & all that. yeah it was gonna be $4.7 for me in my name, a bit rough really. then again the excess was quite low. figured it'd be better in mum's name haha. comparing the two excess' this premium + the excess under mum's name still works out cheaper haha.

  10. Way better choice, build quality on the R34 is much better than the S15's (and their dodgy stagea A/C setup) there is a pretty good reason why back in 1998 a brand new top-spec S15 cost less than the bottom spec R34 in Japan

at first i didn't notice it but during the testdrive once we got to even poorer quality roads than sydney usually has on offer you notice an odd, tinny feel to it.

  11. Yeh R34's benefit interior wise alot by the triple cluster.

Search around on here and you will pick one up for around $150 bucks. Then wire in some of your own gauges (oil pressure, volts, air/fuel etc) and it will spice up the R34 interior for a few humdred bucks.

The NA 34s look stupid because there is a big empty patch in the middle of the dash

would you think it could be DIY or should i send it in. it was indeed one of the first things i wanted to do haha. yeah i know what you mean. it's very... empty there. $150? that's very cheap. the main thing holding me back was justjap's price. although i'd probably still purchase it ;)

  12. hi all. i've just recently chosen an r34 gt4 for my first car.

what i'm now looking for are parts to upgrade the cosmetics of the car with going too outrageous. as being on red p's it's about all i can do.

Now the car is completely stock bar a catback exhaust. & i'm looking to do those little things to make it look better. i'd like to start with LED tail lights, clear front & side indicators all of which i'm looking to go to justjap for. next would be new rims as the ones it currently has aren't exactly what i'd call nice... IMO i'm looking for a more basic looking set. as for the body a GTR front bar is a must, to me it does much more credit to the car than the standard one & perhaps follow it through with the rest of the basic GTR kit. - badges obviously. makes it look more appealing but neater than alot of the other kits floating around.

now i know what i want, or atleast a basic style of what i'd like to get, now i must ask you guys where & for how much do you think i should get these parts for. i know the rear flares are harder to get & install as i've read & learnt quite alot from these forums but i'd like to know the places you guys personally reccomend & have had good experiences with. i know my stuff but am ultimately lacking the experience you lot would obviously have. any help would be great.

    thanks.

  13. f**k paying that insurance for something thats no more powerful then a commodore.

I think your silly to buy one with insurance like that. Actually you would be past silly...

not to mention has better brakes, suspension, LOOKS. etc etc. i know what you mean =/

stupid, stupid laws. just set the insurance better. $1153 premium. much better. think all up it's 1k if something happens?

  14. heres a thought,

go riding round with no insurance if you got the chops for it lol.

considering the number of scum around where i live, don't get me wrong alot are very nice people but probably more are idiots. i don't think that'd be a great idea. especially the old finish work, walk out to the carpark & you're walking home scenario...

  15. Yeh R34's benefit interior wise alot by the triple cluster.

Search around on here and you will pick one up for around $150 bucks. Then wire in some of your own gauges (oil pressure, volts, air/fuel etc) and it will spice up the R34 interior for a few humdred bucks.

The NA 34s look stupid because there is a big empty patch in the middle of the dash

amen to that. reckon you could do it DIY or better to get someone else?

  16. F*ck that mate. Friend just got a $30000 S2000 insured for alot less than that and he's on his p's.

My advice is to wait til you're off your p's and by then you'll be able to afford a R34 GTR!

    Buy a barina.

i'd rather put a fork through my junk than buy a barina =|

i agree with the insurance. found a way around that now though. probably go r34. just for headroom. i'm just over 6ft & there isn't so much space in the silvia. like i think the interior is better. the handling feels more precise but overall room isn't so great. pretty much a 3 seater with me driving haha.

  17. yeah it's opretty rough but what can i say? i've always loved imports. when dad used to take me the the supercars i told him the skylines would be winning if they didn't make that bs rule haha. that ended the dad takes young dean to supercars races era pretty quick =P

you know, when you really like something you'll try to justify even the dumbest prices haha.

what other insurance places will cover an 18yo p-plater? the only place i've tried is just car as it seemed like the only real option. oh & nrma online quote on an r34 series 2 was $11463. i'm not lying or exaggerating either. after that quote i just thought to myself. WTF!? the car was gonna cost me 18990 yet they want well over half of that per year? plus $593 rego? hah!

note i'm actually on L's like 4 houirs left but was banned from dad's car coz of a fight & mum doesn't want me driving hers. too worried about her clutch. i showed her i can do all the stuff fine but hey, it's her baby haha.

yeah i heard shannons is only over 25s & assumed it was mainly classic car style insurance as in you drive it weekends only type of stuff. i'd be using this as a daily.

  18. thanks for the feedback guys.

i'd be driving fairly normally. sure maybe fang it every now & then a little but pretty much just look seeing as turbos are out of the picture, let alone any performance upgrades. it's almost like they want every p-plate jap car being a ricer. the s15 has the looks, a decnt engine but i wouldn't exactly be trying to race a stock anyway. it's just all class IMO. all they really need are some nice rims, a bit of a drop & a catback.

the 34 would be getting the kit, catback, rims & a drop, led tails, & possibly a wing depending on the one i decide to buy (looking at two atm).

insurance seems to be the thing that really splits it down the middle though. with the s15 at $6k whilst the r34 is $4.7k

as i said i like them both ALOT & they each have pros & cons. just making that final decision without having regrets is the hard part haha.

    s15- pros;

smaller engine = less fuel $$$.

    looks good as is.

    s15- cons;

    pretty damn small.

    not as much power.

    quite high insurance costs.

    r34- pros;

    bigger.

    more powerful.

    less on insurance.

    r34- cons;

    chews worse than s15.

    not as good looking stock.

would end up buying visual mods for it then, knowing me that will turn to an additcion.

with the fuel thing i'm aware that neither are very fuel efficient but if i cared about that i'd probably have gotten a small car. stuff that.

also, has anyone had any experience with top secret imports in blacktown?

  19. ive had the baddest luck this week..

some bloody stupid cat decided to go drifting on my car causing scratches to the rear driver side quarter & roof.

now there is tiny spots of tree sap all over the car.

how do i remove tree sap from the windows & body without damaging the paintwork?

ive readup for the windows to use nail polish or metho but not for the body as it will ruin the paint.

    any ideas?

    cheers

sorry if it's been said, i only looked at the op, had the same problem. fairly hot soapy water, & a decent scrub with a sponge helps take it away bit by bit. polished after wards on the panels & just persisted with the windows. it's quite annoying haha.
