  1. Standard bottom end will handle the power your chasing. If your gona track it on a regular basis id extend your sump or get a baffle kit and over fill with oil before every track day.

Apart from that just use the standard proven formula for 350 on a rb26..

    Exhaust

    Injectors

    Fuel Pump

    Apexi PowerFC

    2860-5's

    Z32 AFM's

    Poncams

Wind the boost up and away you go... I would look at upgrading the clutch too at those power levels

  2. Im so glad R34 GTR's are over priced like they are at least you dont get absolute tools and di*kwads driving them on a daily basis like the taxi's s15's and gts-t's have become.

I dont mean to be disrespectful to the silvia or gts-t owners but the legitemately nice and well built ones are outweighed by the POS's with dose pipes and 20's simply cause "OMGG ITS A SKYLINE".

If it where up to me I wish 34 GTR's where double the price. The loan i would need to take out will help me sleep at night knowing that I own an exclusive car with a bunch of enthusiasts and not some f*cking tools and pretenders

  3. if you are in the market for a car, i hope you have the same luck i did with mine but allow yourself to realize that if in 2011 you are going to find a 10+ year old import with less than 100K on that clock.... IT HAS BEEN TAMPERED WITH.

    my 1.5 cents...

Whilst i agree with the rest of your post i dont entirely agree with this statmement.

YES, there are many shonky people out there tying to squeeze extra dollars out of you in the sale by winding down K's but there are also alot of people who legitemately only do 6,000k's a year on their cars and keep them strictly for weekend cruises and take maticulate care of their vehicle at all times.

I was in the GTR market for about 7-8 months before i found mine and I can tell you the windback jobs where very evident. I saw 34 GTR's with completely worn gear knobs, seats, steering wheels and in general crappy condition and the ODO on their pretty Nismo 320kmh dash reads "47,000". Heck my daily has 170,000 on the clock (highway km's) and if I where to cover the ODO and make people guess I would give $50 to anyone who said it was over 100,000km's.

At the end you dont know what the cars been through unless your its first and only owner /thread.

  4. do not bother with changing your intercooler.

i went from a R34 GTR cooler (60mm thick) to an ARC (70mm thick) cooler. and there was absolutely no difference!

this was the only change i made to the car, and the car still pulled 360rwkw on 24psi boost on E85.

i have -5's so they are a little bigger than the -9's i think?

there were no significant signs that the intake temps were too high or it was restricting flow too much. i thought by changing it, i would've been able to hit my power goal of 500hp but it looks like i might have to try a set of poncams.

also, i wouldnt bother with poncams for anything up to 350kw, my std head pulled 369rwkw and this was without adj cam gears.

with the poncams, you will lose response for very minimal gain if at all for anything under 350kw.

    Thanks for the advice mate.

I was well aware that the standard cooler was fine but just speaking to a few workshops got me abit confused and I dont think its a money making issue because i specified to them that i'd be fitting the cooler on my self.

Im interested in your statement in regards to the poncams you made, can someone please elaborate abit more on it? I couldnt resist getting them at the price that i found them but didnt realise they would be a hinderance to my setup instead of a benefit..

  5. Ok guys before i get nailed for this i have done my research and I am well aware that a standard R34 GTR will handle 350awkw but ive only heard this on forums.

Ive gone to several workshops (dont want to name places) and all of them so far have told me that I would need to be changing my frontmount.

Car is going to be a simple -9's setup: Turbo back exhaust, Tomei Type B camshafts, Nismo fuel pump + afm's+clutch, powerfc and boost.

From what i hear i will have 310 - 30awkw will be achievable with the above after tuning with the standard intercooler but as a few workshops have told me they become too restrictive and require more boost from the turbos to push through the same amount of power (+2 psi ontop of what i would need to run say if i had a cooler with bigger core)

Just wondering if anyone can clarify this for me?

  6. my wife has a ba xr6 turbo , i cant recommend you get one even if it's just a xr6, its a pos...sure it goes hard stock, looks good for a large sedan, heaps of interior room... but be prepared for driveline clunks, ive had on going issues with bad idle, brake shudder and warping discs, f**ked bushes. Shit build quality/parts used is the problem... steer away from the Ford! even later models like bf etc have these type of issues ocurring...

Nothing wrong with a na r34 Manual, while on your p's.... obviously wont be as quick as the turbo variants but who cares... suspension work and intake and exhaust should keep you happy for few yrs..

    Each to their own.

Ive owned both an NA manual r34 coupe in my early P's (coil overs, exhaust, swaybar, wheels) and i currently have a BA XR6 (stock automatic) as a daily while the GTR sleeps in the garage for the weekend.

Apart from the R34 having better fuel economy and sounding better it wasnt superior in any other way. The XR cops an absolute flogging, chunders smoke out of the rears regularely, tows a small size trailer and has never skipped a beat. Not that the R34 didnt do these things (aside the towing which no way in the world it would manage), but when something went wrong it took 4x the amount of the ford for it to fix.

I cant speak highly enough of the XR6 and its appeal as a daily or P plate car. NOTE the bolded writing.

  7. Dont waste your money! Talking from experience in my earlier P plate days its just not worth it. You get all the grief from the 5-0 minus any of the benefits as the car is an absolute slug and gutless.

Imo get an XR6. 4 Doors, bucket loads of torque (more torque than a turbocharged skyline FYI) and very under the radar plus their a good looking car as a daily. Will blow the doors off any NA skyline while comfortably fitting in people in the back seat without having to play tetris.

  8. 600hp in the wet in any rwd would be monumentally annoying more than anything else. Well if you wanted to drive it hard that is... IMO if you're going to go past 200-225rwkw in a GTS-T you may as well just buy a GTR/EVO and be done with it.

    THIS !

You will be amazed by how much quicker you car is if its actually accelerating as opposed to frying your tyres every time u smash 1st and 2nd even in the dry..

  9. S13 silvia !

    - Cheapo boost tee

    - Chop springs

    - Drop off exhaust at front pipe, leave remaining exhaust piping for "stealth look"

    - Weld diff

    - Hack saw shifter and reglue gear stick with "shoe glue" for that short shifter feel

    - Wack on a bunch of JDM stickers

    win????????

  10. My existing driveway is on a very steep incline and shallows down horizontally so its not very ideal for a lowered car as it droops to the shallower end and scrapes the shit out of the car.

Ive got a 34R so with the front lip its impossible to even get the f*cker up and ive got it sitting at a mates garage until i fix it.

Atm its concrete. I would like it extended by about a meter in width and smoothed out so that i can get my bloody car up it lol!
