  1. Here are 2 Australian companies that stretch Hummers.

I will most likely be accused of something for doing this, but let me make this statement first:

I have NOT worked for these firms, I do NOT work for them. I have nothing to do with them what-so-ever. I'm just trying to help a fellow member. So ease up on the negative comments. Even though i am new to SAU i have been in the automotive industry for decades repairing, purchasing and selling. I have many contacts both here and overseas so obtaining this info was easy.

Hope this helps. Hope it's allowed.

This company is in WA. They have a website you can go to, but I'm not putting it here it's not worth the trouble. They build a very unique stretch. High quality.

    thanks for the help,

much appreciated will look into these guys asap, will let u know how i go.

    again thank you

  2. Not sure what I'm allowed to say. But I cant tell you its cost more than 200k for one Hummer at where I work. This is a brand new one.

Hummerman what exactly are you trying to do? Just wondering. Are you planning to start your own hummer company in Sydney?

All the best with your intentions if you do, as we'll probably meet sometime in the future :P

Am looking at HOPEFULLY starting my own limo company..... a long way off for now, just doing the research before i committ.... it isnt a small sum of money to part with.

  3. jst curious but are hummerman and bobw the same person? both low joined on same day n have same posts. One asks about hummer imports, the other gives a reference to an importer, a website etc.....advertising

    Nahh champ not same person.....

im just trying to find some1 who can help me, i dont care where the help comes from ill take it. To be honest the best person so far has been a guy from Tasmania, but i would prefer Syd.... Cant believe its so hard to find someone

  4. I hope you dont mean 30-40k per stretch hummer limo. add another zero in there mate. :D lol

Afaik you have to get them 'stretched' here. There's a company that specialises in this field.

30-40k just for the conversion.... nothing more, i am expecting it to cost approx 200k complete and registered

  5. Funnily enough I work for a major stretch hummer limousine companys in Sydney. One of the few. Not sure what you mean Kujotk by chapters?...lol

All I can tell you is its not cheap.

If you're gonna get one, get a pink one. We need someone to own one in our industry. Don't ask me why we get pink requests, it just seems to be a colour choice of the moment.

    Mate,

since u work with these guys, maybe u can tell me how they got their hummers in and what they cost?

  6. also from experience a container would be between $1500-$3500 australian$ from the states + insurance because allot of containers do fall of the ships. im half sure that you won't have to convert the car to right hand drive, i know they changed the laws about that.

But as i said before check around first...

    good luck

how do i find out if it can be left RHD or not?

    btw thanks for the info

  7. Hi Hummerman

If you check out the following sites you will find that you are allowed to import a stretch Hummer(built by Krystal).

First site is the approved vehicles.

    http://rvcs-prodweb.dot.gov.au/sevs/sevsindex.htm

Second site gives you the firms that are approved to comply them. If you wish to import an approved vehicle, you have to get the (RAW) to do the Gov. paper work and the complying. You MUST check with them first to see if they will do the job. I have had experience with some who are approved but did NOT want to comply other peoples vehicles, they wanted to only do their own imports. But with the down turn in the market now I do not think that happens anymore.

    http://raws.dotars.gov.au/rawswebpublic/RA...rch.asp#results

All of this can be very daunting if you do not know what you are have to do. Maybe better to purchase your stretches here. I have brought in over 40 vehicles from Japan, so I kinda know what is involved.

As for importing from the States, if the vehicle can fit in a container(20ft or 40ft long) it is better than deck cargo(set charge for a container no matter how much you put in it) just phone a shipping company to get a quote. You can put 2 vehicles in the one container(one on the bottom then the other one sits on a frame on top, if the 2 vehicles are to high they are put in an open top container then the top has a cover put over it(these are then Top Loaded on the ship). Also it is protected way better. Dock workers DO NOT treat vehicles very well. They will steal parts, damage when moving around etc. (speaking from experience) but when it's locked away in a container they find it a lot harder to get at. Also, when purchasing from overseas beware of the exchange rate. Add that to the shipping/customs fee/10% GST/15% duty/quarantine fee/towing /compliance/changing from left to righthand/ etc. and the cost sure adds up quickly. Vehicles may seem cheap to purchase in the States, but are they worth it in the long run???? Also, Are you going to go to the States purchase the cars, do all the paper work re customs/markings etc. arrange the shipping, put them in the container, tie them down, arrange for them to be taken to the wharf and so on? There is a lot involved. You can get a broker over there to do all of this for you AT COST. All something to think about.

    Hope this helps you

    bobw

What kind of cost would a broker take for such a service?
