  1. Hi, I've had my 1993 r33 NA for 2 years now but during that time I am yet to find a reliable and trustworthy mechanic that I would be happy to bring my beloved 'other half' to for a regular service. In the past I have generally done some research online to find the best possible import mechanic possible but it has always ended up being a 2 star experience for a variety of reasons that I wont get into. This has happened with about 4 mechanics now. Please keep in mind that my skyline is my everyday driver, I'm not looking for a performance specialist, just a mechanic that will keep my car happy and running smoothly. (I thought i'd also mention that I have been to 'general' mechanics who don't specialise in imports, but these mechanics refuse to even look at the car because they are 'unfamiliar' with it)

I'm wondering if anyone has any recommendations of a good skyline mechanic anywhere in the city of Melbourne. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

    Thanks

    Justin

  3. Factory airbox + good panel filter.

Best performance money can buy - infact it's cheaper than a pod setup 9 times outta 10

Yea, makes sense. Any recommendations on a good performance panel filter brand?

  4. yes there is...its the snorkel off the front of the box.

even the very best cold air setup would be worth what 3-4hp?

    its hardly worth it.

Yea the snorkel. It doesn't look like much cold air could get in between the narrow gap between the bonnet, thats why i thought an intake would be better. Thought it was there just to look good.

Filter. I'm thinking of putting in an apexi power flow, ive heard its a great filter. Any other reccommendations?

  5. Hi

Just bought a 1993 R33 with rb25 engine, non turbo

car needs filter and full piping to fuel injection manifold. rather than pay for stock parts i want a performance filtration system

any ideas about what to put on it??

Any good performance shops in melb that will do it for reasonable price??

  6. Thanks Mad082

Well i've encountered some specific problems with the car that a regular mechanic would not be able to deal with, like the air conditioning.

I'm wondering if anyone can give me the details of a specialized workshop that they know and trust in Melbourne.

    Any help would be appreciated

  7. Hi, recently bought an r33 and looking for a good and reliable mechanic in Melbourne to service her. Preferably someone who specializes in Nissan.

Performance tuning doesn't really interest me, just general car maintenece.

    Does anybody know anyone good?

    Thanks

    Justin

  8. Hi recently bought a 1993 r33 gts (without an owners manual) and i noticed that the indicators dont turn themselves off after you turn. Just wondering is this normal for this car because self cancelling indicators have been the norm in cars long before the r33 was released.

    Anyone know?

    Thanks Justin

  9. Hi, recently bought a N/A r33. Didn't come with an owners manual.

Just wondering if its ok to run the car with standard unleaded (91 Octane) or will this damage the car?

Filled it with premium (98 Octane) the first few fills and it drank a tank in less than 3 days, and i don't drive like a maniac at high revs either.

Its drinking the standard unleaded much more slowly which is good for the everyday driving i do and cheaper, but i just wanna know if this is ok for the car?

    Thanks Justin

  10. Hi recently bought a 1993 R33 and the battery went dead. Going to put in an aftermarket soundsystem in the car soon as well. The car didn't have an owners manual. Just wondering if anyone knows what size/type battery I should put in the car, considering the sound system will require extra power.

    Thanks Justin

  11. Hey, just bought myself a 1993 Nissan Skyline R33 GTS. It has a remote central locking system with alarm. I recently tried unlocking the car with remote as usual, the drivers side door opens like normal but the passenger side door seems to be locked shut. It makes a clicking noise like its trying to open but remains locked. Tried opening with remote, with keys and while holding the door handle open. Does anyone know what the problem is and how to fix it?

    Thanks Justin
