  1. the ecu would run it, but not very well. for starters the mapping is for a 2.0L engine with lowercompression and a turbo bolted to it and you are putting it on a higher compression, larger displacement engine. if you are planning on putting a nistune in it then yes it should be fine once it's tuned.

Are the looms for the RB20DET and the RB25DE Non VCT the same?

  2. I am chasing an R32 to be a potential home for my RB26/30 once I have finished it. However, rather than waiting until the end of the build and have my engine sitting around for months, I would like to purchase an R32 now so I can work on the Body/Chassis while building my engine.

So, I have up for sale my current car (you can see it via this link http://www.skylinesaustralia.com/forums/topic/362895-1994-ford-fairlane-nc/page__p__5791628__fromsearch__1#entry5791628) and if anyone is interested in swaps I am keen to have a look at what you have to offer. if not, just let me know if you are selling anyway because I may also get the money from the sale of my car.

    Cheers,

    Aaron

  3. Dude, put the 26/30 into your Fairlane! Can anyone say "LOLSLEEPER!!!"

That would be very cool :)

Oh, and Pre-empting the "big fat heavy" people, the 6 banger NC weighed almost smack on 1600kgs from the factory which is about the same as a 34 sedan so it's really not that heavy. In fact you may even lose some weight switching from teh 4L to the 26/30, altho with the extra turbo gear it may work out to be pretty similar.

If not, GL with the sale :P

Hahaha touche, However, I have my eyes set on a 32 for the time being but who know's the engine may have several homes in the future :)

    Cheers

Throwing up the old girl for interest, don't need to sell her just thought I would throw her up.

I am chasing an R32 to be a potential home for my RB26/30 once I have finished it, however at the moment I have a 1994 ford fairlane that is in perfect running condition with a full exhaust, pedders sports ryder suspension, ROH wheels, good condition paint and body (besides to panels which I can fix), I have changed the lighting in the dash to red and white to match the car a little better, I have put an LTD bonnet on it, I have also put a shift kit in it, AUTO by the way, CFC Free air-con, Leather Steering wheel (LTD), I have made a custom 12" subwoofer box for it I am finishing soon and I have decked out the car with $400 worth of wiring for a massive stereo with a second battery in the back.

Couple of more things. I am the third owner, the first were an old couple and the second, a young Chinese lad, so it hasn't been thrashed. It is quite reliable and has all the things that usually fault over the years (fuel pump, throttle cable, intake manifold gasket, coil, battery) replaced. It is comfy and is a good car to go from A to B that can be a bit noisy if you are in the mood. I also have the NA fairlane factory manual (RARE) that has everything the NC has to be honest just a couple of tasteful differences that the NC has over the NA. I have a revs check with it, and ever since the day I have bought it, it has run on V-Power. Finally, I have just done a service on it roughly 2,500 km ago. I also have a chiptorque chip waiting in bubble wrap.

I will be doing some more modifications to the car soon if I have no interest in the near future.

Shoot me a text or PM if you are interested or you have an R32 you would like to swap.

    Cheers,

    Aaron

  5. im liking this, but build pages need pics, pics and more pics! :)

Thanks mate :) and on that note, I have purchased the RB26DETT Head for the build,

    febrb26hd3.jpg

    febrb26hd4.jpg

I cannot wait for it to arrive, I am going to get it sent for crack testing ASAP so I can start thinking about saving for the headwork.

  6. oh yeah , i was just pointing out that 50k isnt really an exaggeration at all, as you said on the first page when comparing it to a V8 drag car, also backing it up with my experience in gathering parts over time as cheaply as possible - no labour.

    but thats enough about that!

all in all goodluck with the build! Be sure the guys you use really do know what works and whats not needed.

    BoostdR is onto something

    TO4Z should net you a responsive 600hp on a 3 or 3.2l

No worries :) we will see when it is completed haha.

Cheers for that jangles, and don't worry I have plenty of confidence in the guys I am entrusting with my build. This week I think I may have a chat with Clay to sort out and finalise the turbo selection and dimensions of my plumbing.

  7. 8 sec could quite possibly be achieved with a stripped out, auto, blown v8 in a old cheaper car...

once you start messing with skylines,RB's and Turbos its where the money adds up.

i purchased everything for my build to do it right the first time as cheap as possible and it was uncompleted at ~30k not including the car or driveline!

GT35 on a 26/30 in a GTR is quite ballsy

That much I do know as I have been brought up in the drag pits since I was 6 years of age and I have seen my fair share of wicked Blown V8's and Methanol guzzlers. Thing is I don't want a V8 in an old cheap car, I want a skyline with an RB26/30 because I love the combination of torque, power, comfort and style of the R33 Skyline with an RB26/30. Different applications call for different budgets. Connections and simple know how can bring down the price while keeping the build legit. I know I won't build it for under $15,000 but I am not phased by it at all. By all means thank you, but I just want to say once again I am not building it for a cheap/legit/quick car because it isn't really possible, but I am building it because I want to. It is like saying you can buy an orange because it is cheaper than an apple because they are both fruit but thing is, I want an apple.

I have thought about other shells such as 350z's (pipe dreams) but it is all to much stuffing around to get it to fit.

  8. UPDATE

Fair enough in regards the the comments about the twins, I will look into it but I have partnered up with CCC engine building in Yatala, run by a man by the name Clay. He builds rotaries but has a vast history with rb26/30's. I am getting my intercooler, plumbing, custom exhaust manifold by him (with close ties with PWR). I am also going to discuss turbo choices with him and I am fairly confident he will bring up twin's or single and which would be better for what I am looking to achieve. Also, I have placed a deposit on an RB26DETT Crack tested and Guaranteed head from down south and I am placing the balancing payment in next week so I will be getting my head soon, very excited.

    That is all for now,

    Aaron

  9. If its not a dragster wouldn't you be better off running twins?

Nah mate, I would rather just get a single as I can achieve what I want with the single. Perhaps in the future on another build but I have seen some pretty stupid quick skylines with singles take JUN and ENVY for example. stupid power and acceleration.

  10. I wish I had only spent 50k. lol

Mine has had so many changes over the years with things I have been unhappy with.

When I got it, it had a RB25 with TD06-20g making 245rwkw. Added haltech and made 300. Got sick of that and had a twin turbo setup and made 399.

Killed the engine. Built a 25/30 with the twins. Changed twins to Garrett T51r, then changed the head to a 26.

Add in the broken gearboxes, fuel system upgrades, dyno tunes and the list goes on and on.

Finally ended up with a 26/30, T51r, nos, C4 auto, should have it up and running again soon so will be nice to get it on the street.

And still have more to do.... lol

That is quite a story you have there mate :) I am gunning straight for the RB26/30 with the necessary bottom end to withstand the 600rwhp I will be pumping into it with my head that will be configured (ported, polished, camshafts, valve springs, valves etc.) to that power figure with a turbo that will do the job nicely. Along with the necessary driveline modifications to withstand my insane torque value I am aiming for.

    Aaron

  11. It will cost you twice the price of that car to build up something. Thats after all the breakages and hidden expenses. I wish I had my time over as for what ive spent on my 33 I could have bought a very modded 34 GTR. lol

$50,000 to build a streeter? slight exageration, I know of 8 second super sedan's that are built for less than that or there abouts. I know it will be expensive however, patience is a virtue and the added passion for projects such as this makes me more keen to get started. Also it is a learning experience, I am sure you learnt a lot building you r33.

Just want to let everyone know I am aware of what I am getting myself into. :)

    Thanks,

    Aaron

  12. All I am doing different is running a stroker so I can push more torque out and I will probably end up running standard valves. I don't want a huge turbo because it is going to be a streeter so I willbe getting a turbo that will spool up quickly and is rated up to around 600hp, hence I have chosen the Garrett GT35R. Different applications call for different modifications, thank you for the feedback.

    Aaron

  13. i run a std head and valves, ported and polished by me, spool rods, cp pistons, tomei oil pump. 800bhp and 660 lbs of torque @ 1.5 bar boost, why waste so much money on parts not needed. i would spend the money on a gearbox and clutch, christ you will need one, a very good one..bernie

Holy Shit! That is a little hard to believe. How big is your turbo? and what Camshafts are you running?

  14. The nitto stroker would be great if you want 10,000rpm and to be rated to 1600hp.

As for the 3.4 there is no substitute for capacity and still good for 8000rpm.

Yes, good call. As I said, I do want a torque monster so bigger capacity producing a bigger throw = more torque with a lower angular velocity is the I was going however, the Nitto setup from what I have read, has more research and knowledge placed into it when it was engineered because Nitto has been around longer and I would imaginge have a bigger budget to work with and so that is why I was taking a step back. However, I am not taking anything away from SPOOL I think he has done a great job and only time will tell with more statistics and research whether or not I want to go for the RB34 or RB32. For now I am focusing on the head so perhaps in 6 months time I will have made my decision.

Thanks for all the feedback, I would love to see more followers :D
