  2. So drove down the southern highlands from sydney today. On the way home near heathcote, car suddenly feels like its losing power and I get a TCM error.

Pull over and restarted the car cool down and tried restarting but still had the error. Had my Cobb on me but for some strange reason, after plugging in, it just loads the AccessPort screen.

Anyways, realised the car only had 1,3 and 5 gear and was in limp mode (I think) as it feels the car limited my speed to under 40 km/h.

Will be taking it to the workshop on Monday (out of warranty and cobbed so doubt Nissan will like that) but from reading, I suspect it could be a solenoid or sensor. Though it obviously could be something more serious =(

If you have had the issue before, could you shoot me a PM please =)

    Thanks

Most probably pressure sensor fail...same problem I had.

Dont bother will Nissan...if your car is modded they will diagnose then charge you to say they cant help.

If you want to transport your car to Willal in Adelaide by someone who cares about your car let me know

  3. Hey guys I'm planning on getting my car tuned after I get my mines mid pipe put on and wondering what places you's recommend and have experience with. Also if Cobb tune or Ecutek which is better and if anyone knows whether the tune actually voids the cars warranty??

farting in your car will void the warranty let alone tuning it ;-)

What area do you live in?...we may be able to recommend a tuner somewhere close to you.

    BTW....The R35 is not a Skyline :-)

  4. Guys, be weary of this 1. If you are paid for the service you are Technically operating as a Limo without the appropriate Limo License and 2. Your insurance company will claim you are operating the GTR Commercially, rather than the private policy I am sure you're GTR is covered. I have heard this from another Car Club i was with that had been asked to do the same and we were warned about potential consequences. I assume if you are not being "Paid" for this and invited as a Guest of the wedding it may not be a problem..

If there was any payment it would be cash and render the above moot...you are simply a wedding guest.

    Too many 'dudley-do-rights' these days.

I got paid in beer + I had a very good perve for my efforts below :-)

  5. I am booked in to come over for the Aprill 11th track day, bringing my R33.

Do you guys know bext place to buy E85 fuel near Eastern Creek?

closest United with E85 is Minto which is about 35 minutes from Eastern Creek

where can I find out more about this track day?

  6. Track day at Wakefield yesterday

I haven’t been back to the track since the larger turbos were fitted. I have 64kw more but I went with pretty much shagged slicks.

Pic show preparations form Saturday . Traveled to Goulburn on Sat night

Full tank + 100 litres of E85 gets me to the track, 5 sessions then home.

    wakefield2.jpg

New Gopro 3..love this thing so far 

    wakefield1.jpg

Arrived at the track early.....slicks on ready to go.

    wakefield5.jpg

Best lap of the day was on my 3rd lap with a 1.03.0 (0.1 off my PB and 0.8 off the cars PB) after that the grip just went away…(slicks were finished) I was struggling with a very tail happy car so decided to call it a day at about 1pm.

    wakefield6.jpg.png

    Tyres and brakes were spent....

    brake dust!!!

    wakefield7.jpg

    wakefield8.jpg

In car video from fastest lap yesterday...A bit messy here and there :-(

A bit later I was on a flyer and the Race Chrono told me I was -0.41 coming down the back straight but then got held up on the last corner....a mid 1.02 was coming.

The Race Chrono is an awesome bit of gear. A quick glance at it will tell you if you are under/over your best lap for the day...reading goes green if you are under and red if over.

    Porsche hunting :-)

  7. so Kev i take it the trans install went smooth and you're back on the road now?

let us know after you've driven the car if/how the driveability has changed and if there are any additional noises

yes car is on the road again. At Sydney airport awaiting my flight to Adelaide.

  8. Turns out fault was actually one of the pressure sensors...nothing wrong with the transmission itself...just a failure of a $200 inaccessible part that stops the show.

All 3 (correct me if I'm wrong Martin) pressure sensors will be replaced with quality aftermarket items and will be remotely mounted so access is only an hour away instead of 12.

  9. Stock wheels back on for Willal trip no. 2

    trans5.jpg

Ready to go. (car has now been delivered to Willal)

If you need to transport your car from Wollongong/Sydney area interstate by someone that actually cares Mick is the man. Some of you may be familiar with his 7.4sec Torana MV454

  10. hope you can make it to Heathcote Kev

seeing what you can run with mod'd turbos vs my full bolt on stock turbo same day same track will be a great comparison for everyone (including myself) who is on the fence whether to take that next step

great opportunity to upgrade the trans - im still on the fence whether to do this as preventative or wait till something goes wrong

Ill be there...try and round up as many R35s as you can.

  11. Speedah did you try the Warranty path with Nissan???

Also another thing, what did the 2011 front end conversion set you back??? I'm considering doing this myself with my 2010

Yes, I talked to someone at Macarther Nissan who was very helpful...told him the full story. He explained the proceedure they have to go through to gain approval (from Japan I assume). Short story is the car would be there for a week or two while they diagnose/wait for a decision then I would be charged $600/$700 to then to say they can't help me.

Im not too worried...I would rather put parts in it that dont fail. I was very fortunate that it happned inside my workshop. A week ago I was driving in the Sydney City centre during peak hour...I dont know WTF I would have done if it decided to pack it in there.

  12. Hi ho Hi ho....its off to Willal I go...

Jumped in my car yesterday after having driven it 1/2 an hour earlier with no hint of what was to come.

Started it, shift to reverse, dash lights up like a Christmas tree with faults and throttle input does nothing...car wont move.

AWD system fault light is on (see top right below) along with check engine light.

    trans1.jpg

Plugged in my Access Port and found code P0847

    trans2.jpg

Had a look at the GTR service manual...code is the following...

    trans3.png

    Shit....doesn't sound good

Called Martin at Willall....common problem, factory pressure sensors shit themselves. There are 3 in the transmission and are not accessible.

Needs trans/diff removal and transmission disassembly to repair. I have my suspicions that the sensor is actually OK and the pressure is in fact low from a blown seal.

What pisses me off is that this failure has nothing to do with any mods to the car...it happens to bone stock R35s. If my car was stock I could take it to Nissan and they would replace the complete transmission under warranty.

So, car is being shipped to Willal on Friday...while the trans is out will do some bullet proofing mods.

All going well Im hoping to travel from Adelaide to Melbourne Saturday 2nd Feb, stay the night and have some runs at Heathcote drags on the Sunday (there are a few R35s going for runs). Heathcote allows sub 11 sec passes with no cage...will be good to have a play with different levels of the launch control and better my single pass 10.62 at WSID

This is the first and only fault I have had with the car in 2.5 years and I have absolutely flogged the arse out of this thing....cant complain

  13. Not quite, you're half way there, and yes it is a form of bio-fuel (as is all nature based fuels including bio-diesels), and depending on the season we use Butane and other stimulators to boost the ethanol rating to ensure E85 is maintained. FYi, both BP and Caltex do the same for 98 PULP.

I'm not familiar with what United is supplying, but its certainly fully imported - and therefore you take a major risk as to the quality controls put in place by the importers prior to distribution to ensure you have a good product. Alarm bells are ringing for me straight away as when you consider it takes 6-8 weeks for an e85 shipment to arrive from India/Singapore/Vietnam - or even longer if further abroad, and the fact its probably about e60 when it hits our shores, there could be a number of issues with it aside from it losing density and a number of other key characteristics - which mind you, then United's suppliers then blend it with god knows what to boost it back to +/- e85 before you fill up....

    IMO nothing beats home grown.

Im on my 8th 44 gallon drum of E85 from United (Rozelle Sydney) since switching from Sucrogen. The lowest ethonal percentage I have seen is 93 (I test every drum)

The car gets raped hard in all different forms of motorsport and it hasn't missed a beat with United.

The Caltex brew is consistantly all over the shop.

  14. Hi,

I've just picked up a low K's 2010 GTR and am wondering what would be the best way to mount an extinguisher for CAMS events.

I'm sure there'd be a few on here that have mounted extinguishers somewhere on the passenger's side that could give some advice.

    Thanks,

    Phil.

Here is how I did mine....still allows for seat movement
